I read the original Warriors series when I was in 3rd grade. I guess it's been about 16 years of Warriors, so the Erins feel they can write to an older audience. But I'm sure they still promote the Warriors books in Elementary School.
That being said, can you imagine reading The Broken Code as an elementary schooler?

Yeah, pretty easily. It's not particularly complex or anything, though it is very spooky.

I would be interested to see how my reaction to any of the Warriors books would've been as an elementary schooler, because I have always loved to read and I would've loved them back then. I didn't find the series until I was grown though, so I'll never know the difference.

im pretty sure it'd be fine? i mean, I read the scene where scourge gutted tigerstar when I was like 9 so im pretty sure a kid that age could stand the broken code

I think it would be easier to keep them confused, all of us already figured out who the voice is so they would probably think its more mysterious.
