Nettletooth / Duskfang's Hunting Patrol
Her small paws flexing their claws into the ground beneath them, the young warrior nodded in agreement with Duskfang. She had stayed quiet for most of the patrol, fearing sticking out amongst the much more experienced warrior. The older tom was right, but she worried that with splitting up she had less of a chance of catching anything, and more of a chance at showing her inadequacy at hunting. Glancing within the patrol, she still stayed next to Stagwatcher. He was an excellent hunter, maybe she could tag along with him.

Paleriver / Whiteember's Border Patrol
Waiting upon Stonefall's estimation, the white tom felt Hazelpaw press against his side. He felt his heart suddenly tense, and emotions flooded into the reserved warrior's mind. His apprentice had lost so much lately, and he wanted nothing more than to protect her, like the kit he had never, and maybe would never, have. He could not let her fear affect her. Paleriver stepped forward with one confident fluffed paw. "If the scent needs tracking, Hazelpaw and I can investigate." The senior warrior waited eagerly upon Stonefall's response on the scent, and Whiteember's next decision. Maybe if Hazelpaw saw how to effectively deal with that which frightened her like a warrior, she would replace her worry with confidence in her duty.

•●Stonefall●• calliope "I only caught the scent of a male", Stonefall quickly meowed. There was no time to waste. The fox needed to be dealt with before anyone was hurt. "It was still slightly fresh, probably from before sunrise. And it was coming from the direction of Moss Hollow." His head then turned to safe the direction the scent he caught came from. With their current patrol strength, he felt confident that they would have this fox running out of Creekclan territory tail tucked between its legs. Whiteember's Border Patrol "I think that's a great idea, Paleriver," the white-furred leader spoke. "Moonshadow, you go along with them. Stonefall, Littlepaw, and I will be along shortly after." As the wind began to blow a little stronger, the she-cat felt a new wave of confidence bless her entire being. It's just like leading a patrol. Only... more complex. And instead of a few cats, you are in charge of the whole clan. Though she still had her doubts, Whiteember realized this was no time to play into them. Clan must come first! "Stonefall," she called to the senior warrior. "I want to ask your opinion on what we should do next." All the young warrior wanted was to be a fair but just leader, much like the prior leader. She knew it was important to take in consideration what other warriors, especially the seniors that had more experience, had to say.

•♡Hazelpaw♡• Stealthfire Hazelpaw was surprised when Paleriver stepped forth volunteering them to scout ahead of the patrol. Her breath quickened, unsure if she had the courage to head out to track a fox down. Green eyes wide she looked to her mentor, unsure of his choice. Ears laid back, she waited to catch his eye searching for reassurance from the one cat she trusted most. The young shecat lately had felt so defeated in the sense that she had no control over the loss of her close loved ones. Maybe having a win of some sort would bring back her courageous mindset.

•●Stonefall●• calliope Stealthfire jayfeather Whiteember seemed to command to patrol easily and Stonefall knew that her confidence was key when it came to the way the others felt about facing a dangerous opponent. After the order was issued and she turned to him, the marbled grey tom stepped close to his leader. "Foxes are smart and in all my moons of having dealt with them, you must never underestimate them. I think we should stay close behind the scouts. Fox are notorious for ambushing larger prey so the scout patrols small numbers might draw the fox out to attack, when they do we must be ready to leap into battle." His amber eyes drifted over to Paleriver, hoping that his friend had heard his words. The last thing he wanted was for his friend to walk straight into an ambush and not know it was coming.

"You will know this forest as well as I do by the end of your training", he meowed encouragingly. "Duskfang, or Marshflower did one of you want to join me and Fluffpaw. I would like to show him the different styles of hunting."

"Even a slow turtle makes to their destination when they can." Snakefang purred glancing around the camp rising a 'brow'. "I am sure we can sneak you out the camp someway." Snakefang got to his paws gesturing to the entrance before looking back at the dapple she cat. "Come on, Silverscale I know you must be feeling restless being coped up here all day. We'll go as far as you can manage and if anything happens, I'll be right beside you." Hesitant at first Silverscale looked to Snakefang and then to those around her. She caught sight of Spidereye tending to Mosswhisker and knew that if she was ever going to get out of camp without him noticing she would need to do it while he was busy. Determined blue eyes gazed back to the silver tom and Silverscale pushed herself into a standing position. Limping over to his side she smiled, "Okay lets do this", she whispered.

Paleriver / Border Patrol
Paleriver's eyes narrowed at Moonshadow's questioning. He was fiercely protective of his apprentice, and disliked that she conflicted with his decision. Nodding to Whiteember's plan, he overheard Stonefall's reminder, and said in an agreeable tone, "Absolutely. We'll do nothing but track the scent as fresh as it can go, and if you're all close behind an ambush will be thoroughly allotted for." Turning his attention back to Moonshadow who had already begun, he let her lead since she had been so concerned with Hazelpaw's belonging in front. With careful steps in the direction of the scent, he quietly meowed close to Hazelpaw's ears, "We have nothing to fear. Any sign of a fight and our patrol will have the better of it. I'm right next to you." His massive frame shielding his apprentice, the tom did the only thing he was confident in, facing threats with careful and planned investigation. He scented the air, making sure the trail stayed steady in front of them and didn't veer to any side.

StealthfireMoonshadow walks along with her nose scenting every few seconds as she stops, and then she’ll keep on going. She keeps on sending a protective look back at Hazelpaw to make sure she was okay and hadn’t wandered off or something a young cat might do. “Do you smell anything, Hazelpaw?” Moonshadow quietly asks, slowing down to let Hazelpaw catch up with her.

Duskfang's Hunting Patrol The brown tom hadn't said much for the entire patrol up to this point. He reveled in the silence, if only to enjoy the finest orchestra that was the forest around him. As his namesake might represent, Stagwatcher hardly did all the talking. He was much more of listener since he was born. Even during apprenticeship, the tom took his criticisms and worked on them diligently, all while saying very little. Green orbs blinked before casting their gaze over to the she-cat next to him. She stood close to him, and all the tom could do was smile. Young warriors... As he heard Duskfang call to split up as they neared their hunting spot for the day, Stagwatcher spoke quietly. "If you would like to join me, you certainly may. Small groups won't make as much noise as larger ones do. Giving us a chance to catch more prey." Though he had never had an apprentice, he was always one for wise words. "I'm going down by the eastern edge of the valley, close to the river. It's excellent for hunting both fish and voles who come to drink from the stream." With his last words being uttered, the large tom parted from the patrol and began making his way east.

Stealthfire calliope Falconwing Hawkeyes258Moonshadow brushed her stomach against the ground, her tail silently brushing the air. She stopped short again, lifting her nose in the air and catching a faint scent. She gestured for the patrol to follow her as the path wound around a bit, and her heart was thumping fast. She let out a scared breath when she saw a fox tail slipping into the bush and stopped. Oh, it was just a twig. Embarrassed, Moonshadow continued to lead the patrol to where the fox was, always glancing at Hazelpaw and Littlepaw, ready to attack anything after the apprentices.

•♡Hazelpaw♡• Stealthfire jayfeather Her mentors words, no matter how few they were, brought Hazelpaw comfort and gave her a boost of courage. Seeing his protective nature towards her and the pale brown apprentice knew that he would always have her back. Seeing this inspired the young molly. Though fear still lingered within she too wished to do whatever it took to keep her loved ones safe, the few she had left. Taking a deep breath and gathering her courage to face whatever may be before them Hazelpaw advanced along the trail sticking close to Palerivers flank. After they had taken off ahead of the others Hazelpaws semi-trained nose finally caught the lingering stench of what she assumed was the scent of fox. "I smell and stout musky scent, does that mean its a male fox?" She mewed quietly responding to Moomshadow and looking up to Paleriver curiously.

Whiteember's Border Patrol “I will give them around 3 fox-lengths then. So that we may be close enough, yet still far enough in case there is an ambush,” the leader spoke. Her amber eyes never left the spot where her scouts disappeared within the shaded forest as she sat down, her tail closing in around her paws. It was a nervous tick if you will. Whiteember cast a quick glance down towards her apprentice. If I could feel the tension from Hazelpaw, maybe you, too, are worried? The white and gray tabby smirked at the thought. No… Not my Littlepaw. She’s probably ready to sink her teeth into what a real battle is. They had both been training extra every day prior to their prior leader’s death. At Littlepaw’s request, of course. However, today would not be like any ordinary training exercise, if they actually happen to run into the fox. “Littlepaw,” Whiteember meowed, turning her gaze back to the forest. The tone in her voice was stern but remained gentle. “I need you to understand a couple things. First, fighting a fox is nothing like our training practices. Foxes. They are tricky and cruel. Second, I do not care what happens. If I tell you to run, you grab Hazelpaw and you run. You run back to camp and gather anyone who can help and once that is done. You stay in camp. Do not get arrogant. Remember the things I have taught you.” The she-cat paused to take a couple breaths, letting the information she said sink in. She turned her amber gaze to her apprentice’s green ones. “Littlepaw, I may not have all of my nine lives yet, but I will lay down mine to save yours. To save my clan and those I cherish.” The leader stood to her feet and began following after her scouts at a decent pace. She only uttered two words. “Let’s go.”

Duskfang's Hunting Patrol
Duskfang scents the air and slowly starts heading in the direction of some prey near by. He crouches down as he hears a few mice squeaking about. Duskfang spots a large looking one and watches him carefully. Duskfang lunges forward and uses his teeth to bite at the mouse's neck killing it.

Moonshadow, a panicked cat, stayed as near the apprentices as she could. I can’t keep this up, she thought. The apprentices will have to learn to fight for themselves. Worry still flooded through her though. She tried to take herself away from Hazelpaw and Littlepaw, but a mothering feeling twisted in her stomach, keeping her near them.

Littlepaw listened to her mentor's words and takes a moment to let them sink in. She heard stories about foxes and how cunning they could be. This could be an easy fight or a bloody one. Honestly, she was ready for either. The thought of losing Whiteember though made her heart ache. How would she function without her? Ugh what am I saying? Everything will be fine! I'm going to teach this fox a lesson! Littlepaw takes a moment to take a breathe and exhales before nodding her head to Whiteember and proudly follows right behind her.

Moonshadow noticed a hint of pride in Hazelpaw’s eyes, but she wasn’t sure if she was trying to show off, or actually was. “Do you remember your training of how to encounter a fox?” Moonshadow whispered, nearing Hazelpaw. If they did meet the fox, she didn’t want the apprentice leaping out with no plan.

The silver she cat was determine to sneak out the camp while no one was looking. "Alright, we'll walk at a brisk pace and you slip out the moment you can." The silver tom meowed padding toward the entrance. Positioning herself with her less wounded side closest to Snakefang, Silverscale did her best to keep a swift and silent pace. Grimacing as her paws swiftly carried her forward through the entrance and out of camp. Once past the barrier and on the path that led them away from the clan, Silverscale kept moving until the camp was just out of sight. Finally she allowed her wounded body, that had been screaming at her in pain, to take a rest. Tears had swelled in her eyes and she could feel the tiny trickle of blood coming from her largest gash. Carefully the warrior licked it away, hopeful it would stop soon. The last thing they needed was to return to camp and need Spidereyes assistance. Silverscale then turned her watery eyes to her surroundings, taking in the forest around them. She stopped panting and took in a deep breath, the scents around them came flooding into nose. Oddly it felt extreamly therapeutic and calmed her stormy mind. "Gosh, I know its only been a couple days but miss being out in the forest" she breathed allowing her big blue orbs to finally look at Snakefang.
