For many generations, BirchClan and PineClan lived in peace. They held peaceful borders, and the plentiful prey in their territories kept them calm. As time went on, prey began leaving - and so the trouble began, with skirmishes at the border turning into full out war. It was a quick change that left many startled, but neither Clan were willing to back down. When a great fire destroys their home, depleted the last of their food source, and kills a majority of their Clans, the remaining cats of the two Clans must band together and travel to find a new home, finding strength within each-other. This is a one x one multiple character roleplay, and I’d really like it to be long-term! I don’t mind how much you write as long as there’s enough to respond to. My only Real rule is to like...not control my ocs or use ooc information in-rp.
My characters:
Staghop (Deputy of BirchClan) 28 moons old a slender light brown tom with white flecks and dark amber eyes. fairly young for a deputy; he was only just appointed.

Rosepaw (Apprentice of BirchClan) 7 moons old a small deep ginger molly with black marble tabby markings and dark green eyes.

Everything was gone.
Staghop could not make his way back through the forest, for the ground was still hot to the touch, and embers still burned. Even as he watched, a tree crumbled and sparked, threatening to reignite the fire. But the light drizzle seemed to keep the flames at bay. It didn’t matter. Everything was gone. The world was silent. All he could smell was smoke, and every time he blinked, he could see Cinderstar’s final life.
An eerily fitting end. Trapped in her den with nowhere to go, the leader had issues the order to evacuate when the fire had erupted. Now, everything was gone. No cat could’ve survived that had they not run. His mind flicked to the kit, to the queen, and then again to his leader. Who was left? He slowly turned to gaze at the cats whom had survived.
Ternstripe and Rosepaw. Sootwillow, Ravenpelt, and Shimmersong. A mismatched band, for sure. Had that really been it? A pang of guilt hit his chest as he took note of the absence of his own apprentice. Salmonpaw had barely started his training, and now he sat with StarClan.
There were PineClan cats here too, he realised, as he recognised the Medicine Cat. Maplesong, he thought. Staghop’s horror only grew as he took this in, but he has to remain composed. He cleared his throat, sore from the smoke.
“Cats of BirchClan,” he paused, glances to PineClan. “And PineClan. We do not know if the fire will continue. I suggest we try to cross the river,” his tail flicked to the thick river. This early into new-leaf, it ran slowly. It would probably be safe. “And then we will have to account for our losses.”
He saw Ternstripe’s whiskers twitch, and Rosepaw’s eyes widen. Were they afraid, he wondered? He was, too. What was he going to do without Cinderstar’s guidance? He began to pad towards the river, pausing to look towards the cats of PineClan. Questions swirled in his head, but he could see that the fire has not been merciful. Their forest was destroyed, and nothing would bring it back.

Robinwind stepped forward, towards Staghop before turning to address the remaining cats of PineClan.”I hope at this point we can all put any differences we might have had besides us.” she said to them. “Let’s not waste any time. Dwelling here will only make the pain worse.” Her usually cheery and loud manner of speaking was replaced by a softer, more grave tone. She looked to Staghop then, remaining silent as she followed him.
Otterpaw gravitated towards Maplepool. His mentor had perished in the blaze and she was one of the only faces left that he felt close to. Sure they were in separate clans, but at this point? It didn’t matter. He remained quiet, thinking now would be a bad time to break the silence with unnecessary chatter.
Ravenpelt, Sootwillow, and Shimmersong followed behind Staghop. They remained close to each other. Shimmersong looked around the shaken group, her own Clan and Pineclan as well. She saw Maplepool, the only cat she recognized from a gathering. The other two, she wasn’t quite familiar with. But she probably would be soon, she thought. No point staying enemies any longer. Any divisions between the two clans at this point would only make things worse.
Lowcloud remained behind the rest of the cats. He had no intention of staying, but… He wanted to make sure there was absolutely no one left to come out of the forest. As the group of cats wandered away towards the river he strained to hear anything besides the sound of crackling embers and snapping wood. Nothing. His tail hung sadly as he gave up, following the rest of the group.

It was with some surprise that Staghop realised the PineClan cats were following, but he exhaled with relief. They would be stronger together, and they could formulate a plan. His ears twitched as he paused, ignoring a scrawny mouse as it ran past. Of course. Prey would be running from this area, too. Even if the forest recovered from the fire in a timely manner, it would still be empty of food.
Maplepool had travelled with BirchClan cats before. A friendly truce between medicine cats and their guides - it had been pleasant then. The circumstances now, however, were greatly changed. With no leader and no deputy, PineClan were in some trouble. Who would take over the role? She hoped that StarClan would send a message.
She could hear uneven walking. A limp, perhaps. She glanced back and saw a little apprentice - Rosepaw, she realised. An apprentice of BirchClan, she’d been to the last gathering.
“Otterpaw,” she mewed gently, slowing her pace so that she would no longer be in front of the cats. “Keep an eye on the cats and tell me what you see.”
For Maplesong, she saw tired, soot-covered cats. She did not miss Staghop’s heavy paws, even as he tried to hide it. Medicine cats were observant, after all. She didn’t know why she hadn’t had any warnings of the fire. Had it truly been so unpredictable that her ancestors couldn’t warn them of the danger? A medicine cat of old had come to her during her apprenticeship when the floods came for PineClan, but the silence before the fire felt strange.
Maybe she was overthinking.
Vixenpaw trotted along nimbly, listening to Silverdapple mutter quietly to himself. She had never been to a gathering - that had always been her brother’s thing, as he’d always be on his best behaviour. Now...there wasn’t really a need for a gathering, she supposed.
Perhaps she wasn’t as bothered by this as she should’ve been, but she wouldn’t feel guilty for it. She slid into the water and swam across, using her claws to clamber up the bank on the other side.

Otterpaw watched as the Pineclan and Birchclan cats walked together, looking at them carefully as Maplepool had suggested. Everyone looked so tired. The smell of smoke lingered in all of their fur. All he saw was pain. It was hard to differentiate it all. “There’s so much.” he said, softly. Would he and Maplepool be able to heal all these broken cats?
After crossing the river, Lowcloud trotted to catch up and mix into the group. He ended up falling into pace next to Silverdapple. He stayed quiet for a moment, listening to the tom mumbling something to himself. "You alright?" he said, softly. He could only imagine what the younger tom was feeling. There was so much loss on this day. Lowcloud wanted to help, even if all he could do was listen.
Robinwind caught up with Staghop, keeping pace with him. “So.” she started. She wasn’t sure where to go from there. There was no telling where they should go. “You’re the de facto leader, huh?” Robinwind settled on. Staghop held the most power after all, an actual deputy. She wished her leader were here. Or at least her deputy. She felt the duty to lead the remainder of her clan fell to her, as the eldest and most experienced of the remaining cats. “What happens when we get to the edge of the territory?”

Maplesong felt a twinge of pity for Otterpaw. This situation was far more dire than anything any medicine cat would’ve experienced before, and even she felt a little out of her element.
“Once we find a safe place, we’ll check every cat over individually. We’ll be looking for wheezing, burns, scrapes and raw pads.”
She hoped that the smoke wouldn’t weaken the other cats’ immune systems. None of them would survive an outbreak of greencough, and the Clans would truly become extinct.
The sound of another cat next to him caused Silverdapple to start, and he fell silent as he looked at Lowcloud. His ears half-flattened as he looked away.
“I couldn’t find Rabbitleap,” he mewed quietly. His mentor and adoptive mother, Rabbitleap had been lost behind a curtain of flame. Her and her only biological kit, Mosspaw. He knew it was likely that they had perished. He could only hope they were happy in StarClan.
Staghop twitched an ear to acknowledge Robinwind, keeping his gaze focused forward. It wouldn’t be long until they crossed the boundary line. Beyond that was...uncharted territory. As an apprentice, and and his littermates had tried to venture out further than this - they had gotten to the steep path that led through the mountain before their mentors had caught up with them.
“I just want to get my Clan somewhere safe, and no cat is left behind,” he said firmly, “we are stronger in numbers. I apologise for immediately taking charge of your Clan, but I appreciate you going along with it.”
What would Cinderstar say? He hated that he didn’t know much. Pure instinct drove him.
“The forest will be scarred and empty. We cannot wait for it to regrow.” he paused and swallowed. “It is likely in our best interests to find a new home, and it would be an honour to travel with PineClan on this journey.”

Lowcloud’s ears fell in acknowledgement to Silverdapple’s words. “Ah, I should have expected.” he said. Every cat lost someone in this fire. Did anyone have any family remaining? “Sorry for your loss.” He wouldn’t try to make his condolences mean more by drawing comparisons to others. Lowcloud doubted anyone would benefit from talking like that.
“And we will gladly accompany you.” Robinwind said. “We might as well be one clan at this point.” She drifted off in thought shortly. She herself had never been to the edge of the territory. She never was the adventurous type. But now was a better time than any to break out of that shell, she supposed. Robinwind brought herself back to reality as they neared the edge of the territory. A steep, rocky path leading into the mountains. She looked at the cats behind her. Would all of them be up for this climb?
//hey so what direction do you think this story would take? Do you think they’d run into any other clans? Rogue gangs? Ya kno, something like that?
