 Listening meekly to the medicine cat's attempts to persuade her that this was the wrong thing to do, she elicited a low growl at the insinuation that she was abandoning the newborns. That wasn't the truth, or at least that's not what she felt. She was trying to do what was best for them, she had known them for a very little amount of time but still she felt more love for the mewling critters than she had truthfully thought possible, the word abandon seemed cruel for what her intentions were. They were only good intentions, and it broke her heart to do it.
"Don't be mousebrainned in thinking I want to do this," she growled weakly. If she hadn't been a coward, if she had refused the dark forest when they had first come to her, told the clan that they were trying to train her none of this would be happening. But she had been foolish, and immature, and selfish, and now her kittens were paying for it.
"Ok," she said quietly, unconvinced and with forced nonchalance. "I will care for them for now, until a better option arises." Once they were weaned she would seperate herself, Nightecho didn't deserve the status of mother, she didn't deserve the love of ones so innocent. |

Turning on his paws, Moonspots let out a soft sigh and heading towards quiet area to rest and groom his fur. Most of the patrols were already assigned and the warriors knew they could go on hunting patrols if they desired. Just because there was new leadership, didn't mean that anything on that aspect had changed. The silver Bengal still had his doubts about the entire situation, but Ashclan would survive through this even if Wolfstar and Dovepool weren't the head anymore.

A soft yawn escaped from Ashwind's maw. The light grey feline drifted away from the warrior den with soft and slow steps. The gray feline was never the biggest fan of mornings or waking up but here she was. Walking across camp, with the sunlight starting to peek in. She twitched her whiskers, it seemed like she awoke with the sun.
Steering her paws towards the fresh-kill pile, Ashwind cast friendly smiles towards the clanmates that were gathered on her way there. She leaned down to gently nudge the pieces of prey before deciding on a small mouse. It would be enough to satisfy her. Ashwind grabbed the mouse and scrambled back towards a quiet corner to nibble on the mouse

Picking up his pace slightly, Sunhawk was relieved when camp started to come into view. His neck was aching fiercely from carrying the heavy piece of prey. It normally didn't bother him but he also didn't normally manage to catch a pheasant. His amber gaze traced Ryestorm as the feline bounded ahead of him. Lucky, he thought with twitch of his whiskers.
"Surth," he mumbled around the feathers, but nevertheless answering her question about eating together. He did enjoy Ryestorm's company, the dark ginger tom always had admired Ryestorm's fierceness. It also amusing to watch her in action, bickering with their clanmates about various topics and concerns.
Slipping into camp, Sunhawk allowed his paws to lead towards the fresh-kill pile where he dropped his prey on the pile in an unceremoniously manner. "Thank Starclan," he meowed with a light sigh as he titled his head back, trying to relieve the stiff pain that was emitting from his neck and shoulders. He closed his eyes before blinking them back open and looking to Ryestorm, "Remind me not to do that again," Sunhawk meowed with a soft laugh and twinkle in his amber eyes.

 Ryestorm
A soft laugh escaped her at his comment, tail sweeping low to the ground. "I'll try to, but honestly that prey looks pretty appetizing so I'm not sure I'll remember." She gave him a sly smile and dropped her own prey off. She glanced to the prey that was already there, it wouldn't be as good as the prey they already caught but it would be better to get that then the fresh pieces. She bent down and picked up a decent sized squirrel, noting it must have been left over from a hunt earlier in the day or the day before. It still seemed tasty to her though that might be the hunger talking.
"We can go over there if you want?" She nodded to a side of camp that was partially shaded. It seemed secluded from the wandering eyes of her clanmates. She knew some of them gossiped like they were already in the elder's den and she didn't want to have any prying ears.

Her words were far from comforting but he would have to take the compromise for now. He would need to work on wearing her down at a later day, at the moment he had more pressing matters. He dipped his head to Nightecho in a small attempt at saying goodbye. "I'll be back soon with help, I hope" The last part was certainly muttered under his breath, hoping she wouldn't hear it. He still wasn't sure if the leader or deputy would be able to give him answers. Starclan didn't even seem able to help him in this time, their mention of the Dark Forest lacking. He made his way out of the day and searched the clearing for the cats he would be needing, noting the leader was nowhere to be found. He spotted Moonspots soon enough though, the tom was grooming his fur by himself. Perfect for him to bombard him with questions about things the tom would most likely not even know. Perhaps I should ask where Scorchstar is first.

Her eyes seem to settle on Moonspots, a curious glint settled in her gaze and she found herself staring at the deputy for a moment as he settled by himself. The fluffy molly wondered what was on his mind, noting that he looked deep in thought. While it wasn't very like her to approach others, Duskstream couldn't help but find her paws taking her right towards the silvered deputy.
"May I join you?" Duskstream asked timidly, trying not to let her nerves get the best of her. While the two perhaps have spoken very little to one another, she has admired Moonspots from afar for a while now. |

Settling down, Moonspots sank onto his haunches with a certain amount of grace. The tom licked his paw idly as his blue gaze flickered around camp. He could hear some commotion from the nursery, he briefly wondered how Nightecho's kits were doing. His gaze drifted around the rest of camp, an stifled expression fluttering across his face. His first few days of deputy have uneventful yet it was wearing on Moonspot's mental state.
Shifting his attention away from camp, Moonspots decided to focus his attention on grooming his plush fur. It was a more safe and healthy thing to focus on. This fur wasn't going to snap at him due to high tensions. He started gently rasped his tongue over his coat.
Twitching his ears, Moonspots glanced up. His blue eyes blinking at the cream feline before giving her a small yet friendly smile. "Hello Duskstream," he greeted her and inclined his head towards the spot next to him, flickering his tail. Beckoning her to join him, he wouldn't mind some company. Duskstream was rather a relaxed clanmate, probably someone who wasn't going to pester him about Wolfstar's decision about Scorchfoot, now Scorchstar.

The trainee's ears twitched to his now drastic change in tone. She stared hard at the powerful feline with narrowed eyes that are filled with slight fear. This mysterious cat's demeanor had seemed to decrease from curiosity and into a sadder state. Was it something she said? Sunflowerpaw only said that her mother had taught her the two words. Technically, Softpebble never taught her it, but rather, it rolled off of her mother's tongue and stuck to her ever since. Sunflowerpaw remembered the day clearly: it was during the morning. Sunflowerpaw was a kit by this time, and she had been attempting to play with her mother since she was awake. In fact, her numerous attempts annoyed Softpebble so much that she broke from her somewhat dazed state just to yell at the small juvenile to "buzz off". Ever since that day, Sunflowerpaw had seemed to take on the words. However saying them around her dam was not the greatest idea.
Her tufted ears twitched once more and watched as the Birman's once grayed attitude brightened up once more. In fact, Sunflowerpaw's tight face, from her own effort to try to be brave, had too, changed. The manner on how wasn't entirely as positive as this warrior though.
Narrowed sapphire eyes widened almost immediately when he spoke. Never had she imagined getting into the Dark Forest on her own. She began to wonder if she died... but she was good! How could StarClan not realize that she had been a good girl? Sure she had sometimes had... darker thoughts, but she never acted upon them. The molly looked around nervously, but jumped to the now, Dark Forest warrior's new words. She raised what would be her brow, and turned her small cranium back to him. "You mean they're... like regular cats? I thought people were evil around here..." Sunflowerpaw paused, trying to wrap her head around everything. "Wait—so am I dead? Loudpaw said he would take me somewhere but is this really the place? How did I even get here? I thought the only way to arrive here was to die..." The volume of her voice faded and confusion was evident in her tone. The molly was clearly bothered to a degree. Loudpaw kept this a secret from her? Or was this some sort of sick joke? She broke from her thoughts as the mercenary moved. Her body grew tense and the hair on her back slowly began to rise. Was this man going to kill her?
Her thoughts were answered.
"My mother would never send me here... She doesn't even want me to know who my father is... But at least you can help me find him." As tense as she was, Sunflowerpaw still decided to try to open up to the evil warrior. Despite it going against StarClan, it couldn't hurt to tell what was going on down here.
"In fact, she's never told me his name! Could you believe that? I mean, what could have been so wrong with my father that would cause my mother to hate him? It wouldn't kill me to know what happened! You know—" She cut herself off. Ranting to this unknown male was the least of her intentions, but he knew her mother. Wait...
Sunflowerpaw had turned around to face this anonymous feline. During her rant she had began to pace back and forth in frustration. "Y-You! You're... you're my dad?" Her eyes had widened and she stared at the now resting block of muscle. She let out a little squeal, which sounded, quite childish from an apprentice her age—despite being eight moons— and tried to restrain herself from overwhelming the older male. However, with tingling paws that were seeming to gently trot in place in excitement, Sunflowerpaw couldn't withstand containing the happiness. Just like a balloon with too much air, Sunflowerpaw's happiness had exploded, and she leaped forward to hug her father. She wrapped her paws around his wider neck and rubbed her face against his prominent neck fur, a loud purr emitting from her throat. "I can't believe I found you!" She exclaimed, voice sounding much more excited than any of the other times she had spoken to the male.
She pulled her small cranium back to make eye contact with him. "I've been looking for as long as I could remember! Nobody would give me any information on you... No name. No age. No description. Nothing." She paused and gasped, realization harshly kicking her brain as her face emitted a cheeky smile, her pearly fangs exposed even in the dark. "Oh! I'm Sunflowerpaw."

Seeing his smile aimed at her caused Duskstream to relax slightly, offering a hint of a smile herself before she sat beside Moonspots. She ran her tongue over her paw to swipe it over her ear, realizing she might do good by grooming as well. Quiet seemed to settle between them, but Duskstream didn't feel uncomfortable about it and felt rather relaxed as she rasps her tongue through her fur, getting out any tangles within her long pelt. After a moment she opened her mouth and finally spoke. "Busy day so far?" She asked.
Her gaze briefly falls on Driftfall as the medicine cat emerged from the nursery, noticing that a commotion had started not too long ago. She knew Nightecho had just had her kits, she hoped nothing bad had happened. A warmth started to spread within her chest at the idea of new kits, the clan needed some good news after the fiasco that happened right before Wolfstar's passing. Though, Driftfall seemed to be searching for someone, so maybe not everything was well.
Shaking her head, Duskstream turned her attention back to Moonspots and flicked one of her ears. The small smile returned and she kept her eyes on him right before tilting her head down to groom the fluffy fur on her chest.
