So, I've been lurking on the forum for awhile and it's got some pretty fun and unique stuff! I love all of the ideas I've run into thus far and all the Clans are super unique. But, I haven't seen any sci-fi ideas? Is it unpopular in this fandom?
If other people are interested I would gladly make a Clan, or at least attempt to. I imagine it would be filled with maybe genetically modified cats or perhaps some cybernetic ones? Maybe both? Could be near a collapsed nuclear reactor perhaps? There are plenty of ideas, I'm sure, but I don't want to shoehorn anything into the forums if no one is interested.  |

As someone that has run several sci-fi RPs in the past, I'd say it sort of is unpopular. You get some people that are really into it and want to stick with it long term. But you also have other people that think it's a bit complicated or weird. It all depends on what information you present to them and how much of a word wall you have.
I've run a GMO cat species (based on current scientific research and experimentation) and three off-world alien cat species (while still sticking close to the current cat species here). Each were different and unique and had a group of people that joined all of them. The problem ends up boiling down to activity. If you notice with some of the newer RPs in fan clans, most are struggling for members. They need more characters in order to either get a plot rolling or just be able to create interactions. It's a bit difficult when people join, stick around for a bit, then disappear from the RP leaving characters stuck or mini-plots (such as love drama) unfinished and empty. I think for a good sci-fi RP to take place, it's a balance of having enough active members with enough characters a piece with enough interest in the plot.
