Buuut it's not even as long as the iBooks sample. Hopefully the HC one comes out soon, but who even knows if it'll be longer than the iBooks one. We're 20 days away!

I can't stop laughing. "Bramblestar" calling Dewnose Dewtail wasn't just a typo. He actually did it. Lol!

Um, if something happens to Squirrelflight, would Bristlefrost become deputy? She doesn't have an apprentice yet, and just became a warrior regardless, but "Bramblestar" wants her to organize daily patrols.

Bristlefrost reminded me a lot of Hollyleaf in the preview, chewing out her denmates for questioning the leader/deputy and being eager to take on new responsibilities. She's not as explicitly ambitious as Hollyleaf, but I can definitely see shades of her in Bristlefrost. Let's hope Brashfur doesn't see the resemblance and turn on her.

Ah, I feel like this is just going to prove she's either deputy material, or she's not. Bristlefrost seems to be put in interesting situations, ones that are too earlier for her character. And she hasn't developed for yet. Like for example, her love interest in Stemleaf, it was way too quick, and she was thinking too far ahead, and I had the feeling he'd turn her down, and that's what happened. And with this, it might be even more foreshadowing. She has a strong loyalty to Squirrelflight and Bramblestar, understandable, they are kin after all, and she's very empathetic of their situation. So she wants to help in any way possible, but at the same time, she might be doing this to distract her from her rejection from Stemleaf. She seems like she's getting over him since she made fund of them innocently with her sister, and then got angry when they were criticizing her. But it does make me wonder...what direction this is going. Will this give her experience as to why she'll be the next deputy when she eventually gets an apprentice? Or will it show that she can't handle the circumstances and just doesn't think she's ready yet?
I also wonder how much longer Squirrelflight has to live at this point...if the cat is indeed Ashfur...I don't think she or possibly Bramblestar will get a happy ending out of this. Squirrelflight also already had some major deathflags in SFH, so at this point, she's kinda on the chopping block.

Okay, so Bristlefrost seems to be distracting herself in order to not think about Stemleaf and Spotfur and now "Bramblestar" has given her a job usually reserved for deputies, probably to make sure she'll stay loyal to him, this making it easier for him to take advantage of her. Yeah, this can only go so well.
Although, I honestly do wonder if she's meant to parallel Firestar in a way since I've noticed some similarities between them, although this may just be intentional.

I honestly hope she fails, because if she did, it would open opportunities for character development. Maybe she could learn to live in the present and not take things too fast? I also think Squirrelflight will die by the end of the arc. And it kinda sucks that I see no way how she could have a happy ending from all this.

I remember when Kate was asked which living TC cat she thinks would make a good leader and she responded with Bristlefrost. Considering she wrote this book, yeah.

Um, if something happens to Squirrelflight, would Bristlefrost become deputy? She doesn't have an apprentice yet, and just became a warrior regardless, but "Bramblestar" wants her to organize daily patrols. That would be interesting, because even though this isn't actually him doing this, Bramblestar became deputy without training an apprentice first, which they did address in the book. Just like how cats protested when Firestar named Bramblestar deputy, we have Thornclaw protesting to "Bramblestar" assigning Bristlefrost as...co-deputy with Squirrelflight? Sorta. The parallels to that would be unique. I feel that "Bramblestar" is grooming Bristlefrost somehow...whether it's Ashfur or not, I can't figure out why she caught his eye, though, unless he noticed she could make a good, loyal pawn. Maybe if it's Ashfur, emulating how Hawkfrost used him, Ashfur, to plot against Firestar, so he's using Bristlefrost similarly? If it's another evil cat, they could be copying how past dictators got stuff done, which was by having a good, loyal enforcer who was supposedly all about the warrior code (i.e. ignoring literally every part of it except the whole "your leader's word is law" thing lmao), like Blackstar with Tigerstar and Brokenstar. If that's the case, "Bramblestar" might also use her as his ears, since he tends to hole himself up in his den. By giving her deputy-like jobs, he's building her trust in him, to make her more inclined to follow his lead later. If she's so loyal, he might want her to report dissent amongst the Clan once he cracks down on the code-breakers. Perhaps he wants to use her to listen in on the "common rabble" so that he can nip any rebels in the bud. So she's unknowingly (or knowingly, and feels guilty?) betraying her Clanmates, while still thinking she's the good guy and following her leader and the warrior code. It'd be awful if she is so loyal to him that she rats out cats like her own littermates, if they start kicking up a fuss. I wonder if the rule about how a Clan leader's law is word will be amended or taken out during this arc...because in the end, she goes against him to do the right thing, which means she's breaking the code and defying her leader. God, I'm excited for this book lol!

Looking at the longer chapter I think that Bristlefrost arc will be follow fake Bramblestar orders doesn't matter what until she does something that she will heavily regret.

This longer chapter really fuels my desire for having an anti-hero POV in this arc. I'm really hoping for Shadowpaw or Bristlefrost to be more morally grey in terms of their actions during this arc, hopefully that happens this time around.
