- Trainees - Kits become trainees between the ages of 4 and 6 moons, depending on when they are ready. The earlier start times are because the Tribe has a different method of training. The first moon of their training they learn all about camp care; tending to the wise ones/mothers/sick cats, replacing bedding, simple camp repairs, they work with their mentors and the leader. Their second moon they learn the basics of healing and herbs, they work with both their mentor and the healer. The third moon of their training is all about hunting techniques, they work with their mentors and other warriors. The fourth moon they learn how to fight, working with their mentors and other warriors. The last 2 to 4 moons of their training is up to the trainee, they get to decide what topics they want to work on. Dedicated trainees can become young warriors as early as 10 moons.
- Leader/Healer Trainee - These cats will be the successor to the leader/healer after the leader/healer passes. So the cat could be a trainee for their whole life, but they are treated with the respect they deserve from their Tribe mates. If the leader/healer falls sick, dies, or is otherwise unable to perform their tasks the trainee must take over to support the clan. A cat can become a leader/healer trainee only after they have finished their regular training. So, they can be as young as 10 moons but that is very unlikely
- Full Moons - During full moons the Tribe gathers together to feast on fresh-kill and listen to stories from the wise ones. This is usually a time big announcements are made: new mates, expecting kits, rank advancements. Weather permitting the Tribe usually does this in the meadow near camp so they can see their ancestors in the stars up above.
- New Moons - This is a time for solitary reflection for the Tribe. Cats often go off into the woods alone or into open areas to see their ancestors in the stars. It is a time for reflection and connecting with those you've lost or those you deeply love. It is common for young suitors to go off together at this time to be alone together.
- Daily Life - The Tribe cats are a very close group, they enjoy eating together, sharing tongues, and talking through disagreements. The only time you see these wild cats act feral is when they are defending one another. Every cat is ready to lay down their life for their Tribe mate, young or old. Any cat lacking this loyalty is quick to find their way out of Tribe lands. The kits, mothers, and wise ones always eat first and get the best nesting materials. The leader and healer are the ones that often speak to their ancestors in the stars though everyone is encouraged to do so. Tribe boundaries are not set since other cats are so uncommon. They mark out their territory instead by where they hunt, patrols are pretty large to keep an eye out for bigger predators. Leaders do get nine lives but are expected to be at the front of the line in battle and the last to eat/receive treatment.
• Territory and Camp •
- Territory - The Tribe lives in an old growth forest deeply untouched by humans. There's all types of trees, deciduous and evergreen, ferns, moss, shrubs, herbs, mushrooms. There's also all kinds of forest wildlife, but what's uncommon is twolegs and their domesticated animals. Most cats don't know what they, or dogs and such, look like. Several creeks run throughout the territory and there is a meadow near camp used for celebrations.
- Camp - The camp is in a small clearing where the trees open up overhead so the cats can see their ancestors. The leaders den is up in a hole in a large redwood. It is wide enough for them to pace inside and stand up in comfortably. They address the Tribe from a large boulder a short jump down from their den. It is in this boulder that the healer stores their supplies in the crack in the back of it. They make their nest under a large bush the borders the boulder, with enough space for three extra nests. There is a fallen redwood tree nearby that has been hollowed out over time with ferns that now grow over it. It is large enough for many comfortable nests and where the wise ones sleep. Also close to the healers den is a giant juniper bush reinforced with brambles where the nursery is. The inside is free of prickles and is always soft and warm. On the other side of camp is where the giant ferns grow, where the warriors and trainees sleep. Shallow depression have been dug under the fronds, and the advising warriors have also taken over some nearby bushes to make more protected nests.
