A tabby face lifted to the ether, taking in the scents of the ever free forest. It was a gaze of pale green that met the sky - alongside an open mouth as to taste the playful air. Birds sung songs of morning dew, squirrels chattered as they made their minuscule journeys from branch to her branch, and the tom's ears pricked at the calming melody. They were taunting.
Prey hadn't been plentiful in the past moons, despite the blessing of new-leaf. And why? It seemed to be the question plaguing every cats' mind. Why? The calamitous nature of the forest, of course. Prone to fires, droughts - a hot-spot for two-legs to come have "fun" with their kits - and yet, despite it all, LeafClan's home. The sudden snap of a branch was what brought Timberpaw's attention back to his surroundings. He hadn't snuck out of camp this early for nothing - no, the tom was determined to be the one to bring back a squirrel or two for the first time in moons. HIs eyes narrowed, turning from innocent to predatory within a span of a millisecond. This hunt was about skill.

Leaves rustled loudly underneath the small she-cats paws as she ran through the forest, blue eyes wide with fear and her fluffy tabby fur tangled with dirt and twigs. A bell jingled with every bouncing step she took, the collar around her neck certainly scaring off any critter within radius. She was so out of place and had no knowledge of how she should be moving through the wilderness.
"Ouch!" She yelped as she tripped over a tree root, stopping to shake the pain off of her paw. Lily looked around with a pout and abruptly sat down. "Why me..." she hissed to herself. She was obviously a kittypet, and the young cat was lost. Her family had been traveling through a campsite and she snuck out to explore while they were sleeping. When she got back, they had packed up and left. She'd been frantically searching for them since. "How am I supposed to survive on my own? Im barely 8 moons old!" She spoke her thoughts out loud just as her stomach growled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten for a while.

The apprentice dropped to his paws quickly - making sure to keep his weight centered in his haunches. His body dipped low to the ground, the tom was ready for this - his mind focused on nothing but his slender form. His hind legs were ready to leap, while his front paws closely followed suit, concentrated heavily with a readiness to pounce. Though his body was certainly still growing, from an outside eye his form would certainly be threatening - small muscles were beginning to protrude from beneath his fur and rightfully so - the tom had been training hard. Keeping still that predatory gaze, Timberpaw approached his prize quietly. A single breath could cost him this catch. Finally, when he was seemingly merely a tail-length away, the tom brought the entirety of his weight to his hind legs in preparation for the killing leap. This will be a hunt to remember. A bell. With the noise, the squirrel ran off. The clearing that the furry creature had once been eating an acorn in ignorant bliss was not deserted - and now, in its absense, was merely an apprentice. Timberpaw's mouth opened quickly - not to scent the air this time, but rather - in obvious disbelief. Ragged breaths escaped the ever growing tom, his voice croaking as he began muttering to himself. "W-what just... happened?"
Regaining his thoughts, the tabby's eyes began scanning the surrounding terrain quickly - a hazy blurry of leaf-green traveling from point to point. Finally, a sound gave this "other figure" away. Oh, will that be a mistake. His eyes landed on another tabby much like himself, though this was certainly not one he recognized. Seemingly a molly, this other cat seemed to be in pain. "Why, hello there," he mewled softly, approaching the she-cat. He'd have to evaluate the situation. Perhaps she was more dangerous than she looked - though, judging by the collar that so adorned her neck, the assumption was far from likely.

Of course, the kittypet wasn't seriously hurt. She only tripped over a knotted root. But she still sat holding up her paw gingerly, pouting and just being over dramatic about it. She just wanted to go home, but she was starting to lose hope of ever finding her two-leg family. Since she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings she hadn't heard nor scented the apprentice approaching until he spoke. She flinched and put her full weight back onto her paw, fur bristling in fear as she looked towards the stranger. He was scary. He didn't look very old, but he was definitely bigger and stronger than all the young toms she knew. She could see his muscles, for stars sake. All the toms on her street were fat and weak. She crouched lower to the ground, eyes widening once she looked him over. She figured he must be one of those fierce wild cats that everyone told stories about.
First, she was very scared. Then, after mentally preparing herself and shoving her fear away, she sat up as straight as she could with a defiant huff. "Hello." She hissed, blue eyes narrowed as she met the tom's gaze. She did her best to sound brave, but her voice shook a little. "Go away. I'm a tough wild cat too, and you'll be sorry if you try to hurt me." She quickly gave her fluffy pelt a shake, hoping to dislodge some of the debris stuck inside and make herself look more presentable.

Feather padded around in the forest with an old Tom, her feathery tail guiding the old cat. She looked forwards, Moon, the old Tom, was worried about their neighbor, he’d heard the young She cat got left by her family and wanted to make sure she was okay. Feather couldn’t just let the old, half blind and fragile Tom wander around in the forest alone. Her silver blue calico fur brushed lightly against the leaves and her pale blue eyes focused on the path ahead. “Watch your step moon.” She said and stepped over a root.
Moon, an old scraggly gray Tom padded around in the forest beside his friend. He once lived here, with his clan, he knew every inch of this forest, after all, he had lived here for more than half his life, he just got taken away by two legs and decided to stay, he was sick with green cough and they healed him, got rid of his fleas and ticks and gave him a warm home, in return he’d protect his new home for the rest of his days, he’d already served the clan, and with him being an elder before he left, it was for the better. “I’m fine feather.” He sighed.

Despite his best efforts, the tom couldn't stifle his laugh. "Pardon my laughter, but you? A 'tough wild cat'? Somehow, miss, I find that quite hard to believe." Timberpaw's claws were beginning to flex now - sheathing and unsheathing numerous times per every time his heart beat; to be frank, it was beating rapidly. The apprentice had never engaged in a fight with an outsider before - never mind a prissy kitty-pet. "You reek of two-legs, you know. And, not just that - but I bet you weren't aware that that thing dangling around your neck scares off the prey in this forest for miles. But I suppose that you don't have to worry about any of that, do you?" He approached the molly, getting as close as possible without the possibility of provoking a fight over personal space. "Do you, kitty-pet?" The tom's word came out laced with disgust, his heart seemingly pounding out of his chest. Though his behavior could've seemed indignant, in the moment, Timberpaw simply didn't care. Cats are starving, the tom thought. And it's supposed to be new-leaf. Green eyes turning back to the molly - so poised and sure of herself - the tom decided the current root of the problem. It's all her fault.

Feather watched as moon got tired she stopped. “Wait here I’ll go ahead.” She meowed and started to leave, she wasn’t going give the stubborn Tom a choice. After a while of walking around, she scented the young She cat, and another Tom? The other Tom smelled strange. She had a dark purple collar on, but it had no bell because her two legs knew she liked going into the forest. She watched, being experienced in stalking she stood downwind and looked at the scene. As she saw the unknown Tom step forwards she slightly growled at him, though she was a kittypet, under her fluffy fur the lithe She cat’s muscle’s were rippling, but it was just a young cat too.
Moon after he knew death had left completely he had wandered deeper into the forest, knowing this forest by every inch, he aimlessly padded farther into the clan territory, his half blind eyes squinting as he tried to see ahead.

Lily glared at the cat as he laughed at her, huffing in disapproval. "I really am tough." She defended herself, hissing for added emphasis. In reality, she had no way to defend herself, but she didn't want strangrs like him to think they could walk all over her. Her pride was way too fragile to run away, even if she was scared out of her fur. "Really? What about you? You smell like dirt and rotten trash." She spit back, the tabby fur bristling along her spine. Once she heard what else he had to say she scoffed at him, her whiskers quivering with amusement. "You think my ringer is scary?" She asked, shaking her head quickly to let the bell go off some more. Look who's weak now. "It's only a noise. I need it to keep going so my owners will come find me. So you can go away, they'll be here soon, I'm sure." She raised her head high, showing off the black collar fastened around her throat.
(( I'm at work, when i get home I'll add a clan cat character to run into Moon. ))

(Ok.)
Feather growled and leapt forwards. “Excuse me.” She meowed and stood tall glaring at both the cats. “I’m not sure you’re aware, you seem to be frightening the prey away. The both of you.” She said, clearly being more of an adult figure. “Now, let’s let kits be kits, and get on with our lives.” She meowed and watched the strange smelling cat.

Palenose padded lightly through the forest, his long whiskers twitching and his face low to the ground as his amber eyes scanned the forest floor. He caught the scent of a mouse nearby, but rather than stopping to hunt he ignored it and went onward, deeper into the forest. Prey wasn't what he was after. The cream colored tom was looking for herbs, since his stock had run low on a couple things. "Chamomile, chamomile, chamomile..." The tom murmured to himself, finally spotting a bunch of the daisy-like flowers under a tree. "Aha!" The tom purred, pleased at himself as he hurried over to the plants and begin picking them, making sure to be gentle and work with care so he wouldn't damage them.

Timberpaw found himself stifling a chuckle yet again. Aw, how sweet. She thinks she's found a weak spot. How can one she-cat be so hilarious? "Trust me, that thing around your neck is the least of my fears. And you think your two-legs are going to find you out here? You made a huge mistake, kitty-pet; this is LeafClan's territory." He stepped back; his heart seemed to have slowed its rapid pacing, and his breaths came deeply now. "My actual fears would have you running for miles. You haven't seen what I've seen. Suffered what I've suff-" The tabby's head turned at the sound of yet another voice - though turning was certainly a mistake when confronting another cat, despite how weak the opponent seemed.
The tom let out a hiss at the new molly's words. He opened his mouth in an attempt to get an idea of who she was - a rogue, or another Clan cat, perhaps? And yet, he was met with a now familiar stench that caused his mouth to close in bitter distaste. "You smell of two-legs as well. And it's not as if you would know of losing prey either, because-" The apprentice shut his mouth quickly. In a one on one situation, he could take on this new she-cat - there was not a glimmer of doubt in his mind - however, here, when the two kitty-pets had the potential to team up on him, the scenario just didn't seem to be tilting in his favor. He took a step back - brown paws moving with rapidity, though his breaths were able to slow much more. "I...", despite the trail his voice began to fall into and follow, his eyes landed back on the molly that had flared his anger by alerting his prey of a predatorial presence. "I do suppose I overreacted a bit, kitty-pet."

Lily's fur fluffed out and she narrowed her blue eyes at the tom. "My owners will come get me." She hissed, hurt welling inside her chest. They wouldn't leave without her. Her housemate, Silver, was an old cat she-cat who'd been with the family for years, and she said they did it just about every year - moved to a new den. No way they would forget to bring her along with them. She opened her jaws to interrupt the stranger and yell at him for saying things he knew nothing about, when another voice interrupted the both of them. She spun her head around to see a familiar face and a purr escaped her body. "Feather!" She meoweed, eyeing her curiously. Lily would often see the other young she-cat wandering into the woods to explore or do whatever she did in here, so she probably wasn't lost. "What are you doing? Never mind, I don't care." Whatever it was, she was just glad to see someone she knew in a place like this. Looking back at the tom Lily turned her nose up at him, feeling more at ease now that Feather was by her side. He was a strong forest take, but he wouldn't attack both of them, would he? "Hm. Are you going to apologize to me, then?" She asked expectantly, whiskers twitching. "And don't call me kitty-pet. My name is Lily."

Skystar looks up at the clouds and lets out a soft sigh. She wondered if Starclan would eventually send her a sign. These last few moons haven't been easy. They lost quite a few cats to sickness, predators and the cold in general. She was still reeling from losing one of her kits to green cough. A part of her wondered if they ought to leave and find a new home. It's something that had been on her mind for a while now.

Moon padded forwards and stopped as he heard a cat rumble around in the bushes. The cat smelled of the clan, his old clan. He dived into his memory’s. “Palekit?” He meowed and padded forwards, realizing the young kit he once knew grew up. “It’s me, moonrush. I go by moon now though.” He meowed, his blind gaze looking right at palenose. He sat down, looking better than his scruffy self he was when he was in the clan.
Feather smiled, though she was still older than the two cats, she would’ve been a young adult. “All clan cats are hostile when it comes to us ‘Kittypets’.” She meowed and sighed. “For your information, I probably know more about your history and this forest than you do.” She meowed and sat down, her feathery tail sweeping the ground before resting on her paws. “A bit?” She chuckled. “What is your name?” She asked the tom, her head tilted.

Timberpaw's claws unsheathed subconsciously, though he planted them firmly in the ground. This was no time for a physical quarrel. "No, actually, Lily, I will not be issuing an apology. You overstepped your boundaries." The apprentice's eyes narrowed at the two cats before him. "In fact, you're both in my territory. If I called for reinforcements then you two wouldn't have a chance - not just that, but how rude would it be to make attempts to hurt me? On my land? I'm being very hospitable at the moment, if I do say so myself." When the new-comer began speaking, the tom bit his tongue. He was rambling. He'd never talk this much back in camp - that he knew for a fact. But here, he felt empowered. Like he was finally in charge.
With the molly's - Feather was her name, that he knew from Lily's initial cry of relief - words, Timberpaw considered, cocking his head. "You can know all you'd like about our history. But it's much different from living it, I can assure you, kitty-p- er... Feather." And finally, the last question. It had to be acknowledged, he knew; besides, he was familiar now with the other two cats' names, and it was only right for them to be able to make his acquaintance as well. "I'm... Timberpaw." His voice fell quiet with the name. They knew who he was now - a measly apprentice. He let out a sigh of demeaning - green eyes traveling swiftly towards the ground.

Palenose flinched, spinning around and dropping the herbs he held. Someone said his name. No, not his name, but his old name from when he was in the nursery. Who would call him Palekit? He stared at the cat, not recognizing him. He was a stranger, and the medicine cat would normally feel afraid in a situation where he confronted a non-clan cat, but he felt at ease since this cat was obviously an elder. After a moment, the older tom's scent washed over him and he was struck with realization, as he recognized the scent and the tom also reminded him of who he was. "Moonrush?!" He meowed, shocked. He hesitated before padding closer to the former warrior and touching noses with him. "What happened to you?" He noticed that under Moon's familiar scent also lay the scent of twolegs.
Lily humphed, still thinking that she deserved an apology from this strange forest cat who confronted her for no obvious reason. She was just minding her business! But she said nothing, facing him as she sat down on the forest floor. His territory, sure. Last time she checked, the forest was home to lots of creatures! She saw squirrels, birds, mice, and - apparently - other cats. So he shouldn't be able to tell her she shouldn't be there. Her ears perked forward when she noticed the slight change in his demeanor, curious. "Timber...paw?" She meowed, glancing between him and Feather. "Well, that name doesn't make much sense. What's it mean?" She mused.

Moon smiled and, as fast as the old Tom could, went to nuzzle the other tom. After they welcomed eachother he stepped away and sat down. “Well...” he started and sighed softly. “After I got taken, the house fo- two legs, took me to this strange place. They cured me from my greencough, took my ticks and fleas away, and, well... Let’s just say I can’t have kits anymore.” He said and chuckled softly, his blind gaze looking towards the ground as he smiled and remembered his life in the clan. “They had a small kitten named feather there, I couldn’t leave her.” He sighed, remembering his oath to the clan.
Feather sighed. “Well timberpaw, shouldn’t you take us as prisoners?” She said sarcastically, and hypothetically. She stood by lily and nudged her playfully. “Your two-legs...” She started softly. “They aren’t coming back for a bit.” She said and softly sat down in comfort. “Sorry, that just had to come out.” She signed and looked at timberpaw. “What exactly are you? Like, I know you’re a cat, but why do you have ‘Paw’ at the end of your name.”

(( waiting for Rose's response with timber xd ))
Palenose stared at the old tom in disbelief. "You can come back now!" He meowed excitedly, whiskers twitching. Some would say that he betrayed the clan, but he didn't think like that. All he thought about was Moon being here now, and he needed to be welcomed home. "The whole clan misses you! We all thought you... thought you joined StarClan." He stepped closer and nuzzled the elder some more, purring quite loudly. "And I'm a medicine cat now. Palenose." He raised his head proudly. "So I promise I won't let you get sick again."

Timberpaw turned to Feather, a small smirk threatening to grow across his tabby face. "I thought you knew all about my Clan and its history; you should already be educated in this matter, shouldn't you?" It felt good - finally - to have the high ground again. Though the shift in mood was certainly odd - moments before his claws had been unsheathed and ready to submit to his impulse - but now, it seemed as if they were simply sharing tongues. But this is still my territory, the apprentice reminded himself, raising his shoulders. He couldn't let these other walk over him, especially not here. "That 'paw' simply means I'm an apprentice. I'm training to be a warrior." He shut his mouth with a wild rapidity once the words had made their descent into the world, gauging the others' reactions. "Keep in mind, though, I'm almost done."

Featherpelt looked at the tom. “Well Moon told me about your clan.” She meowed and held her chin up. “How old do you have to be to be a warrior? Because I’m 15 moons.” She meowed proudly, her eyes glinting with pride. She sighed and looked at her paws.
Moon purred and licked the younger Toms head. Once he had heard what the Tom said, it felt like a stone in his throat. “I’m happy to hear palenose.” He said, he was proud that he got his warrior name. “But, I can’t.” He meowed sternly, his heart aching for home, it felt like he was being torn, clan life, or life of a kittypet? “I know being a kittypet brings dishonour to clan names, but palenose, the two-legs saved my life. The clan won’t like a cat who is half blind and left his clan.” He sighed, his foggy eyes seeming to be filled with emotion. He was glad he was back, but it wasn’t forever. “I’m just glad to see you.” He meowed with a smile.

Lily glanced at Feather in shock when she said that her owners wouldn't be coming back. She huffed and chose not to answer, quickly disregarding it. Of course they wouldn't leave without her. They took the other cat, Silver, didn't they? She looked back at Timberpaw, her tail curling over her paws and her head tipping in curiosity. "That's interesting," She commented with a slight purr, "What's a warrior do?" She glanced between Feather and the apprentice, eyes widening. "Oh, me too! I'm 10 moons, could I do it?"
Palenose looked at Moon with a pained expression. He knew he couldn't force the old tom to come back, even if he really enjoyed seeing him. Palenose had always looked up to Moon when he was in the clan. "I understand, Moonru-" He stopped himself, remembering he had dropped his clan name. "Moon..." He paused, then purred loudly and licked his shoulder. "I won't tell anyone I saw you, if you want. They don't have to know where you went." He promised.

Moon sighed and felt the pain radiating off of the Tom. “Thank you Palenose.” He meowed with a loud purr. “If the clan needs anything, my two-legs grow cat mint in their garden, and if the clan is really starving I can give them some food.” He meowed with a smile. He stared towards where the clan was, he didn’t leave without regret, he left his family, and he felt ever so bad about it. He felt even more ashamed that he did want come back. Sure he wanted to see his family, but they’d be angry with him that he left his clan, it was better if he was assumed dead. Right? He was glad to see palenose. “If you need anything, even just to talk, I live right near the abandoned fox den at the edge of the territory.” He meowed with a smile. “So how’s being a medicine cat?” He meowed, suddenly remembering the Tom said he became one,

Palenose made a mental note on where the old cat said his den was. He would visit for sure. If Moon wasn't coming back to the clan, he would love to see him and chat once in a while. He perked up once asked about his role in the clan. "I think it suits me," He purred deeply. "I was training to be a warrior for a few moons but I just couldn't seem to do anything right... So I was invited to the medicine den and I absolutely loved it." He chuckled to himself, remembering his apprenticeship.
