Are things different in the UK? (I think that's where the books were originally set) when it comes to spaying and neutering your pets?
Here, everyone is like remember to spay and neuter your pets!
Anyway, my point is, that out of all the kittypets in the series, even the ones who were kidnapped, and held for awhile by twolegs, there has only bee like two or three of them that have been spayed/neutered.
1. Henry 2. Smudge 3. Possibly Shanty, Pinestar noted that he smelled different than the she-cats in his clan, which, could be because she's not a forest cat, but he never said that about Crystal, and she's a kittypet as well.

There are also theories about Graystripe having been neutered when he was captured by humans XD
But yeah that always surprised me, how many cats ended up having kits as kittypets and stuff, especially as a catowner now and seeing how many adoption centers just straight up neuter/spay the cats as soon as they get them. I mean it's possible that it is as much of a thing in the UK and the Erins were just ignoring it for the sake of plot, but then again there are plenty of people out there who don't spay/neuter. I mean I'm from America so idk what it's like there but yeah, I've had the same questions about this myself.

XD I can't see Graystripe being neutered, since he had kittens after he rejoined the clans, but some of the other cats maybe I mean, Sandynose kinda has the "spay sway" thing going on here XD I'm kidding, un-snipped cats have that too, I think it actually helps them to run and jump better, or something. It'd be kind of interesting to see what would happen if a clan got got spayed or neutered. I know it's said to kill their sense of adventure, but when my cat got neutered, he still loved going outside, and hanging out with the other cats, and stuff. Then again, he didn't have his operation until he was a year old, so that might have had something to do with it

Definitely did not kill his sense of adventure. He loved going outside until the very end. He gave us a lot of presents.

My cat never got into any fights, and he never brought back any food, but we did see him catch a squirrel once, so there's that

He died around what we think was age 17 but we're not sure. He was already neutered when we got him from the shelter. His previous owner died. Kanu would stand his ground a lot. He was incredibly skinny so he didn't necessarily always come out on top and he was often covered in some type of scratches but we weren't sure how much was fighting and how much was him say, getting cut from some sharp plants since he liked exploring. Here's a pic of him. I miss him so much. He was my best friend.

I’ve always thought that was weird also. I don't really have room to talk though, because my family only alters the males, but not the females, but they never go outside, so... Well, Ellie has been outside a couple of times, but she's always been on her harness.

The reason Ellie and Barry aren't is because, we were told Ellie had been spayed when we got her, but she wasn't. Barry doesn't anyone except me, and I don't think she'd do well at all at a vet's office, and I'm not going to put her through that stress.

Simple, the Erins were clearly ignoring that for convenience.
If a country with enormous swaths of forest (U.S.) has to aggressively promote promote spay and neuter due to overpopulation, then a tiny then a tiny island nation like Britain would certainly have similar issues. And the main reason why so many Americans don't fix their cats is due to some weird idea that it would "unjust" or "unnatural" to do something like that to their pet. It's kind of like a mutated "inalienable rights" type deal. Since Britain doesn't adhere to those ideas anywhere near as strong, they won't have so many nutters. Granted, I don't know for sure, but this is what I suspect.
About sixteen years ago now we had a serious stray issue in my neighborhood. We had a barn on our property, so we attracted so many strays. Since so many of the cats look alike, we suspected that they were related. In fact that's how we'd gotten three of our (now deceased) cats. Momma scouted us out, approved of us, and brought her four kittens to our barn.

Dancing_TotodileOh wow, hopefully he'll grow out of that. My sister's friend's kids are rough with their cat, and it's kind of irritating, because their mom does absolutely nothing about it, she just laughs it off.

That makes a lot of sense, the ignoring it for convenience part, and also promoting spay and neuter due to overpopulation. Aw that's cute that you got some of your cats that way The house next to ours had SO many stray cats, I'm not sure if they belonged to the people in the house, and they just let them run rampant, but they were feral as could be
