Don't tell people to grow up just because they're having fun while playing a game.
A lot of people, teens/young adults, grew up playing pokemon when it first came out, and to be able to walk around and "catch" pokemon was probably a huge dream many kids had, including myself.
Of course, the app needs a lot of work, but there are constant reminders to pay attention to your surroundings, don't drive while playing the app etc etc.
The craze for the game had died down considerably in the last week. (I've been barely playing it because the changing catch rates are annoying as heck lmao.) I meant "Grow Up" as stop walking into the street, staring at your phone, to catch a Pokemon. And the catch rates are stupid like something the company Social Point puts into their rip-offs to get money. They literally copied Dragonvale then booted up the prices a lot and made a change when ever Dragonvale made a change, they added their version of what DV added to their game. They also copied Mario and a lot of other games. Pokemon Go is like that in a way. Not an authentic Pokemon game that encourages you to walk and spend money. Although, even to me it's more enjoyable then the Social Point games (Dragon City\land) and at least openly says its a type of Pokemon game. At least it doesn't say "Catch little creatures in balls." Plus you can catch Pokemon still.

i personally love the game, but i respect your opinion. its gotten me to go outside, which is hard to do with social anxiety. my favorite part about the game is how sometimes we get an entire group of people on our team we met on facebook (we meaning my hunting partner and i) and just go walk around together, maybe 10 people or so, late at night. we would of never met these people but somehow, because we all chose the same team on a stupid little app, we're friends now

Erm... I'm quite grown up, but thanks for the suggestion. I personally enjoy the game- but if you don't, it's cool, to each their own. The game sticks to some people, and it doesn't to others. Just like any other game. Don't shoot me- I never understood the hype about Undertale- so I get it. But I'm totally fine with those who do- and that's their party, and I'm completely fine letting them party. I meant Grow Up as stop walking into the street staring at your phones to catch Pokemon. Not that everyone does that.

I mean, it's just a fun game. You interact with others who share your interest, and there's actually some strategy that comes into play. It's challenging and immersive, and it really gets people to show their competitive side. Furthermore, the kids from when Pokemon first came out get to live their childhood dream--catching and training Pokemon in reality. And though there are the stupid people (not paying attention to their surroundings, taking the game far too seriously, etc.), the actually good and fun players overshadow the moronic ones.
Ultimately, just like whatever you like and we'll do the same. Don't tell people to grow up just because they're enjoying themselves. I meant "Grow Up" as stop walking into the street on your phones to catch Pokemon. Not that everyone does that.

Also, at least DC let's me actually battle stuff. Also just because something is the same type of game doesn't mean it's a ripoff.

Read the games history. And I hate DC graphics. Before they really started to copy DV, it wasn't bad. But now they're money hungry and have changed to terrible graphics, plus their customer service sucks. Yeah the Customer Service does suck, but I do enjoy the game. I got turned down twice when my gems 'magically' probably a money scam, started to disappear. And once one of the events was going crazy and they literally said "sorry" and the events have been buggy sense then. Dragonvale on the other hand... the service is amazing and they are really polite. Granted, DC used to be fun until I realized a pattern with the updates often happening just long enough after Dragonvales to make something cheesy that was almost exactly the same as DVs update with the dragons. Then SP became money hogs. Once DV added a new legendary dragon, and a week and a half after they announced it, DC announced that you would have to win 'races' to get a great 'heroic' dragon. And that was almost the same as DV. You get pieces from actual races to get the legendary dragon. DC has also done other stuff like that one 'coincidence' that just doesn't lead up to be a 'coincidence' . But I respect your opinion. It's just the copying is annoying. And DV did recently update the quality of their graphics.

I mean the game's not going to be fun for everyone but
-in general, many Pokémon are cute, cool, or even just silly (pile of eggs), which adds to the appeal of wanting to catch them -collection aspect, especially since even, say, two Pikachus will be slightly different from each other -you play sort of against other people with the gyms which I think is pretty fun -the type match ups and stuff mean there is a little bit of strategy to it -it's a reason to get up and go somewhere, maybe with friends, maybe meet people -friendly rivalries (sometimes unfriendly but usually friendly) -the prior popularity of Pokémon (for somewhat similar reasons) contributes to the current popularity of Pokémon Go
like, what's the big deal with Bubble Shooter (unless this is specific to my school but I doubt it would be)? well, a lot of people just enjoy it
if it's not your thing it's not your thing, but your basic argument ("you [do one aspect of game] and then [do another aspect of game]") can apply to any game, and different people are going to have different ideas on whether or not it's fun for them

Eh, I've never been much of a fan of Pokemon, so I don't think it's really a big deal. You don't need it to actually go outside and exercise. It's just fun for them, but it's nothing special to me.

It's just fun for them, but it's nothing special to me. this is probably going to come across as argumentative but I'm not trying to debate you or anything I just want to kind of explain what I mean with a reason to go outside it is embarrassing for me to be in public…I do not leave home without an excuse, because I am afraid and because I don't have the…mental energy? to put myself through that… getting a little more personal, I guess
I have anxiety, depression, and autism and have been bullied for a long time--I cannot be seen in my city without a reason because someone will find me, someone will see me, and I can't run away (weak ankles, and they know it)
also, my family would make fun of me endlessly if I ever left the house to take a walk or something--kind of the same vein as when parents are like "oh look who finally came out of their room and joined the rest of the family!!!" and I'm tired of them I just get so angry and I hate being angry I'm sick of it I don't need them making fun of me too "oh look who's finally exercising" "are you feeling okay" "is this even our daughter" no I am not giving them the satisfaction if my friends would play Pokémon Go with me, I would go with them, and I would actually get to see them outside of school (there is one friend I see outside of school but only one) I would be able to show my face outside my house and actually have something to talk about and I might be able to make more friends on the way so again I'm worried that this kind of sounds like I'm saying that you're wrong but I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just kind of explaining why I said that

Pokémon GO is an awful representation of the franchise. Play a real Pokémon game if you want to get a true taste of it.
That said, it is highly implied in the games that the inside of a Pokéball is like a place of luxury for Pokémon to relax while they await their next battle. And you aren't forcing them to fight. They want to be apart of your team and compete. Battling is different from simply fighting. The Pokemon are not trying to hurt or kill each other. They are battling out of mutual friendly competition. Heck, it even says in the first episode of the anime that wild Pokémon are jealous of those trained by humans.

They are battling out of mutual friendly competition. Heck, it even says in the first episode of the anime that wild Pokémon are jealous of those trained by humans. adding onto this, the 5th-generation DS games' plot is essentially Pokémon PETA (Team Plasma) claims that they are separating Pokémon from people for the Pokémon's benefit; however, the Team Plasma member (N) who can talk to Pokémon finds each time he speaks to the player's Pokémon that they are happy and fulfilled being with the trainer. Pokémon are not upset about being captured; they take it as an opportunity to grow alongside people and develop a deep bond. Also, turns out the real leader of Pokémon PETA was lying and just wanted everyone else to give up their Pokémon so he could take over. now, that may not change your personal opinion of the games, which is fine! not everyone has to like Pokémon but ingame, the Pokémon are canonically happy, so that's how you get around the "you're making animals fight???" aspect

If they don't care, then ignore them.

I didn't say that it was easy. All I did was give a suggestion to help. Obviously there are other things that Hollyfrost14 of StoneClan could do, and what I suggested was one of them. Don't want to use it? Okay. That's fine. Just don't deal with that stuff from family forever, and don't let anything get in the way of going outside. Besides, my opinion from my first post on this thread wasn't a reply to Hollyfrost. I was only putting my 2 cents in, 'tis all. Now, that's enough. This conversation has ended. There's no need to make a big deal out of this. I will not reply the next time you bring this up. Have a nice night.
