Hi, I decide to write my own fanfiction. New cats, new clans. I was hoping to get advice or anything on it. Here's chapter 1 enjoy.
Chapter 1:
In the cover of darkness, Birch moved silently through the underbrush following the scent of a mouse. The brown smoke and white tom came to a pause as he saw the mouse at the base of a tree, steady on his haunches, he waited for the right moment before pouncing kicking up leaves as he landed squarely on the mouse killing it swiftly. With his prey in his jaws, Birch got to his paws before padding back over to the fence of the twoleg den leaping onto one of the posts before jumping down in the fence yard. “Back already.” Meowed a familiar voice from above. Birch looked up narrowing his eyes to see a large blue grey tom sitting on a window seal. “Yup.” Birch placed his mouse down licking his fur down and free of bits of leaves. “You should really be carefully out there Birch. There are dangerous cats out there.” The tom said. “I’m not scared of them Roy. In case you forgot I’m a wild also cat unlike you.” Birch said settling down biting into the mouse. “More like a wild kitten. Don’t say I didn’t warn you there are wild cats living in the forest and they'll eat you up but knowing you your meat would be tough..” Roy said earning a glare from Birchpaw before he stretching out jumping down and padded through a little door leading into the twoleg den. Once Birch finished his mouse, he curled up under a bush as he took a glance toward the forest tree before falling asleep. It was moon high and Birch slept soundly dreaming he was chasing a mouse through the forest as he landed on the mouse the forest around him had changed, everything was on fire. Birch got to his paws as the flames grow closer and he broke into a run, as he ran he saw a group of cats gather on a land of trees. “Run! The forest is on fire!” The cats only stirred at him in silences. Birch leaped onto the nearest tree where four cars were already sitting and followed their glaze as the fire stead from the forest to the basin, then the marshland and finally to the wetlands. Birch felt the fire grow even closer, the cats beside him and below were surrounded by fire and birch climbed higher as the fire engulfed the cats below him. “Help us!” “Save us!” The cats below cried and Birch watched with wide eyes as the flames destroy everything suddenly the branch underneath him jerk and he heard a snarl as a pair of amber eyes stare at him through the flames. “Who are you?! Go away!” Birch growled before the branch below him snapped dropping him into the flames below. “No!” Birch jumped awake panting as he looked around, he was still in the twoleg backyard under the brush but his pelt felt very hot. Birch sat up giving his fur a quick wash and padded from under the brush looking at the treetops shake as the wind blew by and the faint call of an owl could be heard. Birch padded over to the fence and leaped onto one of the posts scanning the tree line of the forest, not seeing anything moving the tom got ready to jump down until he heard another noise for from the forest. Narrowing his eyes Birch leaped down the fence slowly padding over to the forest, the was unfamiliar scent around the brushes another cat was nearby, Birch moved carefully sliding his claws out when suddenly he was rammed into from the side. Birch twisted trying to lock his claws into his attacker unable to see them in the night, stumbling to his paws Birch looked around for his attacker listening for them, a rustle came from a brush to his right and Birch got ready as he saw green eyes staring back at him. Hissing Birch lunged forward into the brush and begin wrestling the other cat, both cats yowled, and fur went flying until both cats broke apart trying to catch their breath. “who…are you? Why did you attack me?” Birch panted. “You’re a tough fighter Kittypet.” The other tom meowed. “I'm not Kittypet! I'm a rogue!” Birch hissed. “A rogue turned Kittypet?” The black and white tom slowly got to his paws sitting back on his haunches looking at Birch with a smile. “My name is Blackpaw. What’s yours Kittypet?” Birch huffed as he say up. “I told you I'm not a Kittypet. My name is Birch! What’s a kitten like you doing out here?” “I'm not a kit. I'm a warrior apprentice, training to be a warrior of Oakclan.” Birch tilted his head at Blackpaw confused by black and white tom. “Oakclan? Warrior apprentice? What are you talking about?” Blackpaw padded over to sit next to Birch. “Don’t you know about the four clans that live in the forest? There’s my clan, Oakclan then there's Basinclan, Floodclan and Marshclan. At 6 moons a kit becomes an apprentice and train to hunt and protect the clan. We fight any and all intruders if I was a fully warrior you would be crow food by now.” Blackpaw chuckled. “Yeah right you caught me off guard at first if we fought again, I would win. Trust me I fought worst then you before.” Birch and Blackpaw glared at each other before toms broke into chirpy laughter. “Not bad for a Kittypet. I mean a rogue. What are you doing in a twoleg nest anyway?” “The Kittypet living there is a friend so me and my sister are stay there before traveling again…” Before Birch could finish a snap came from behind making him and Blackpaw turn around. “Oh no. Other cats from my clan is coming. Quickly you must leave.” Blackpaw meowed. “Wait what?” Just then a black and white she cat and large blue grey tom came padding out the undergrowth. “Blackpaw! You shouldn’t be near the twoleg nest!” the tom growled. “Yes. Thistleleaf.” Blackpaw pinned his ears back looking down at his paws. Birch stared at the two cats not sure what he should do, slowly bent down to Blackpaw. “who are they?” “The tom is Thistleleaf also my mentor and Kestrelstar is our clan leader and also my mother.” He whispered. “Thank you for the introduction Blackpaw.” Kestrelstar meowed looking at both toms. “Sit up you two. You fought very well.” Birch and Blackpaw glance at each sitting up straight. “You watched us fight?” Birch asked. “Yes. I never seen a Kittypet fight so hard before.” “Birch isn’t a Kittypet. He’s a rogue just staying at a two legs nest.” “A rogue living with two legs?” Thistleleaf meowed. Kestrelstar circled around Birch examining the young dark brown tom. “Not a Kittypet are you sure?” Birch stood up glaring at Kestrelstar. “I'm a rogue! I'm a traveling with my sister and we needed a place to stay the night!” “I see. Is your sister as tough as you?” “Sage is a lot tougher than me even if she is carrying kits don’t let that fool you. She’ll tear any cat to shreds.” Kestrelstar flicked her tail in amusement. “How would you and your sister like to join Oakclan.” “Kestrelstar. Are you sure?” Thistleleaf asked. “Rogues becoming warriors don’t they need warrior blood?” Blackpaw meowed. “Ones background doesn’t decide ones future. Birch was it? If you are up for the challenge and willing to make sacrifices for Oakclan. Will you join?” “I guess. I would have to talk my sister. Her safe and her kits are what matters to me.” “That's very admirable of you and I understand. If you both decide to join then tomorrow morning, I will send two warriors for you here to escort you back, meet in the clearing just north of here. Deal?” Birch nodded to Kestrelstar. “Yeah.” “Farewell Birch.” Kestrelstar lead Blackpaw and Thistleleaf back deeper into the forest leaving Birch to return to Roy's yard
