<Raintalon> Credit for location goes to the people of TPH. (Because we needed to hijack the House so we wouldn't end up with this leeeeengthy 1x1 somewhere in the wings. Also, it just happened.)

“Mm...the reaction to Blue 6 was slightly more pronounced than expected, though there had been some research by Dr. Neil Warsinger that suggested such a thing...” Hange trailed off midsentence, realizing in a moment that they were no longer speaking to their colleague, and were now spouting their research to the open air...well, that and the House itself. They straightened up a little more, reaching up to tweak their glasses slightly as a broad smile appeared across their face. “Ah...well, hello again, House. Only twenty minutes since my last blink...growing attached, are we?”

"I never liked flights. I don't do flights. I'm completely not flights. At all. That's me." Myrnin voice was from the other side of the room, actually half out the doorway into the hall when he appeared. He seemed to be talking to a wall. The wall did not talk back. It could have, considering the location. "Hey!" he said to Hange, bouncing over on his heals with a large amount of excitement plastered on his face. "Whatcha up to? What were you doing? I can smell all sorts of chemicals on you?" His eyes were alight with an almost ... desperate interest.

(He seemed to be talking to a wall. The wall did not talk back. It could have, considering the location. mint that’s gold omg)
Hange turned, face lighting up with a grin as they spotted the vampire, now fully grown again unlike the last few blinks. They felt pleased...almost proud, as silly as it sounded - to see the curiosity alight in his eyes. They already had known he hadn’t lost it growing up, but still, it was nice to see. Briefly, they wondered if he remember seeing them as a child - how did time work for a warped person in the House? Did it erase his memories for continuity’s sake? They supposed they’d find out sooner or later. “Ah, yes!” they exclaimed, mirroring the vampire’s excitement instantly. “I suppose I would, although my human senses cannot detect them. I was testing whether or not Titan skin will hold dye injected into the epidermis - Titans have this habit of healing by steam, see, so I wasn’t certain if the ink would evaporate along with the damaged skin tissue. A fascinating experiment, and one I do not yet have the full results of, but preliminary findings suggest a Titan’s skin can not only hold dye, but tends to spread it like a stain. Which would suggest that anything underneath the hardened upper layer of skin is far more circulatory than what one could expect from a human.” They could go on all day, but even they needed oxygen, so they took a quick pause in the form of a deep breath.

(Why thank you! ) Myrnin had heard very, very little about Titans, which he knew came from Hange's world and apparently terrorized it. He perched on the back of the couch and listened like an attentive school child who was listening to a teacher explain the ropes. Excitedly, he said, as soon as Hange paused, "What are they like though? Okay, so that's how their skin reacts. What about things delivered by the mouth or the eyes? Does the eyes react the same way? I assume that means you could tranquilize one if you were able to get a large enough dose under the skin?" He rubbed at his chin. There was actually the smallest hint of stubble there. He hadn't shaved recently. The vampire seemed fascinated by something he had never even seen before. "I know vampires are resistant to most drugs - like sleeping drafts - however they are administered. Unless in very, very high dosages. So perhaps reactions would be the same, since human dosages are not meant for other beings. I am not sure." He seemed a bit miffed he couldn't find out either.

“Eyes react in much the same way ours would,” continued Hange, ecstatic that they’d found someone who didn’t mind them carrying on. “Titans have tear ducts, so their eyes try to flush any irritant just like mine or yours would. Oral administration has, however, so far been unsuccessful in producing any results, potentially due to the sheer size of most of the Titans I’ve been able to experiment on.” Myrnin’s last suggestion gave them considerable pause, and their eyes widened a little, their silence a reflection of how much they were processing all at once. “Tranquilizing a titan...what an extraordinary idea indeed. You might be the first to suggest such a thing. It’s thought that titans used to be human, as they share very similar physiology to us externally and internally, so there’s a possibility that if delivered in sufficient quantities, a sleeping agent could have an effect. The main difficulty would be a practical one - at this moment, it would be completely impossible to secure that much of the chemicals I would need - there are several ingredients that I suspect don’t even exist in such vast quantities. And even if they did...” here, they heaved a longsuffering sigh, “...I sincerely doubt that Captain Erwin would ever approve something of that nature.”

"Problematic," Myrnin said with a sigh, flopping backwards a bit so he was leaning over the couch, hair laying across the cushions. Still in this position, he pointed at the ceiling and then pointed at Hange's nose. "Invent something stronger then, Scientist Hange. It is not an impossible feat to concoct something potent enough if you wished to try." He lifted himself up high enough that he could look at them instead of whatever point he had been seeing on the ceiling. "How many times have you gotten a live specimen?" His eyebrow arched. It was both encouragement and a question. To add to this, he drawled, "Who is Captain Erwin? It sounds like someone from my world. Amelie or Oliver." His lips twitched. "Problematic," he repeated, then shrugged. "But you can figure ways around them."

“Captain Erwin is a good man, but one who lacks vision in the area of scientific research,” said Hange, glancing sideways at Myrnin and recognizing his expression with ease. “I will assume you have someone similar in your world. Difficult people, aren’t they?” They heaved a small sigh, reaching up to adjust their glasses. “Ah, but you’re quite right. Ways can be found to circumvent these things, Invent something stronger I will, given time.” Then, they turned their attention to his second question. “I have captured a total of four live specimens in my time as a researcher,” they said, holding up four of their fingers to illustrate. “It’s a fairly recent advancement to be able to capture them alive at all, and it’s a slow process - capturing them myself is a necessity, as few others are willing to risk bodily harm in the name of scientific advancement. Frankly, I consider myself lucky to have had access to as many as four.”

"Those are the worst," said Myrnin, humming a bit to himself in empathy. "No understanding of science. You have to explain things two. Using 'simple' words. And they still do not understand the relevance of what you are trying to convey." He snorted. He did, however, smile at Hange's assertiveness. He was glad that they agreed with him. It made him happy. The hum he'd had cane back, vocal cords buzzing at the back of his throat. It was interesting to hear about Hange's world. He didn't hear about it very often. Often being hardly at all. But he supposed he could understand. He didn't talk about his own unless it was the general sense or unless it was actually bleeding into the world of the House (like an old lover turning up at different times or one of your bosses). Suddenly a bright spark seemed to jump behind his eyes and he stopped flopping over the back of the chair and instead stood up straight. "Hey," he said. "You're here." As if he'd only just noticed. It was actually a pity that Loki wasn't. It would have been fun if they had been. But Hange ... "Wanna go try and break a door in the hallway and see if they splinter different than normal ones? Or see if the handles can melt?" He pulled out something from his pocket. A vial of some sort. "I think this is acid!" He sounded very excited at the prospect.

Hange lit up at Myrnin’s suggestion - they hadn’t forgotten that the two of them had blinked in together, exactly, so much as they had forgotten all that the state of affairs entailed. And what it entailed, if they knew the vampire at all, was an afternoon of excitement. They stood up so fast they almost tripped, scrambling forward to get a look at the vial. “Why leave it at an either/or? One can be optimistic that the House will provide us time to break a door and melt a handle. And is it really acid?” they added, tilting their head at the liquid inside the vial. “Glass must be strong, in that case. I see no damage to the vial.”

"It's acid when it makes contact with air," Myrnin explained brightly. "It should work just fine!" He moved away from the couch he'd been leaning against and stretched. He didn't seem worried that he was holding some type of acid in one hand and instead easily walked along with it, tossing the vial up into the air once. He glanced around and then nodded at the first door to the left. It would be easier to find it again, just on the off chance that this somehow did damage to the House. "Would you like to pour or should I?" he asked Hange, holding up the vial. "I only think I have the one, which is unfortunate." He used his free hand to pat at his pockets. "You don't think that if a door is opened we actually have to go in, do you? Like ... could I walk down the hall and open all these doors at once but never enter them? How many tests have you done without me here? Data might be useful."

“Ah, I see, I see. I hadn’t considered that - we have no such compound as of this moment in my world. How convenient!” They followed the vampire to the hallway, hands crossed behind their back as they waited to see what he would do. “Mmm...interesting questions, and excellent ideas for experiments,” they mumbled, nodding along with his reasoning. “As expected of a scientist of your caliber. Sadly, I have done no significant experiments in the living room - usually, the House seems very eager to shuttle me off to a room. To which I offer no complaints, but I am curious as to the living room’s unique properties. What I do know is that the House does at least partially regenerate - not all damage disappears, but the most significant parts always come back sooner or later.” When he offered them the vial, they held out their hands, fingers already moving to grab it though they tried to contain themself for politeness’s sake. “May I??”

(Heeeeeeello. I am back, I am back. ) "It's why I offered," said Myrnin brightly. He passed the vial to them and instead eyed the other doors near where they both were. He shuffled over to one. He wanted to test out whether you really could open multiple doors at once. He glanced first over at Hange, then gave them a little wave, before he opened one of the doors. He was so used to going through them that he nearly crossed the threshold before he remembered what he had wanted to do. Then he stepped over to another door and opened that one. Nothing seemed to happen. "Interesting!" he said. "I wonder if they lead to the same place or two a different one. We probably don't have enough people to test it." He stepped to the side, then stepped back again and gave the door a rough kick. There was a scream of hinges and the wooden door went flying through the opening of the door and away. "Now I'm curious if that made it to the other side. Questions, questions, so many questions. How goes the handle melting?" he asked, turning to Hange.

“Whatever type of acid this is, it is very potent,” said Hange as a way of answering the question. They were holding the vial upside down, wide eyes watching the last of it drip with a violent sizzle onto the mostly-decimated doorknob. A few drops had fallen to the floor as well, and were currently eating their way through the carpet and the wood underneath that. “It would seem it is the perfect catalyst to test whether or not damage to the House will repair itself. Tell me what happens, will you? If you happen to blink in next before me?”
As a few moments passed with the doorknob doing little but continuing to slowly dissolve away from the doorframe, Hange looked up, curious to see the results of the vampire’s other experiment. “Hm...leave the acid and find out where the door went, or stay and wait to see if anything miraculous happens to the doorknob? A difficult decision...”

"Of course, of course," promised Myrnin amicably. "I will tell you if I find out before you do." He wasn't actually sure if he would be blinking in any time soon. It seemed like, though he still felt like he was blinking in a lot, that was in his time. Every time he came here, it was like more time had passed and he had somehow lost another friend. It was odd. But he didn't mind the new people. To him, Hange and Loki still felt like new people, but they were cool. "Difficult indeed," he muttered. He leaned forward to look at the door handle, eyeing it for any unusual properties. It was unusual in and of itself that there didn't seem to be any. It was acting just like a regular door handle. "I can get more acid later," said Myrnin, whistling between his teeth. "Might be harder to convince anyone else that kicking in a door is a good idea. Might try and stop us. Anyway, could always try some tests inside a room." He inclined his head toward the hole in the wall that was where the door had been. "Want to try out a room and see if our luck is holding? After you."

sorry for the wait!! Migraines have been killing me the past couple days and I haven’t been doing much rp at all RIPPP)
“If I stopped doing something when someone tried to stop me, I’d probably never do anything worth doing,” remarked Hange philosophically, standing up and traipsing along with Myrnin as he moved to examine the doorless room. They stepped to the doorway and sort of leaned out of it, hands on the doorframe to stop themself from falling in. “Hmm...can’t see a thing. Just fog,” they reported, frowning. Then, they turned around to face Myrnin again, a manic grin on their face. “Let’s go, then!”
And with that, they let go of the doorframe and allowed themself to fall backwards, closing their eyes as they keeled over into the fog.
....Next thing they knew, their breath was driven out of them with a huff as they hit the ground, and they were so stunned by the impact that they just lay there for a moment, wheezing slightly. “Well...what did I expect, really...” they remarked weakly, eyes first traveling to the ceiling, and then all around the room, still from their position on the floor. They were in a messy study, the desk and floor littered with paper and writing utensils of all types, and the shelves lined with odd specimens one could only guess the origins of.
It was a rather nice study.
Wait...it was their study!

"I'm not sure," Myrnin said stepping after in the normal fashion (for him anyway). "I mean ... however you look at it - unless it was an anti-gravity room - you were going to hit the ground." His eyebrows rose as he looked around. He took in a shallow breath -his first which had not been employed to talk. "I like this room, whatever it is," he commented, unaware it was Hange's. "Lots of papers. Hope the House lets me read them." He walked over, glancing over the specimens with intense curiosity. Most of them he had never seen anything of the type before. "You going to come look?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder at Hange. "I don't see the doo - oh, you have an odd expression." He turned around, a small stack of papers in his hands. "What is it?" He glanced around, suddenly tense. Had they spotted something he hadn't? They seemed shocked. (Short. )

“Hmmmmmmm........”
Hange narrowed their eyes at the ceiling for another moment, and then sat bolt upright, raising a finger in the air before bringing it down to point directly at the vampire. “You’re correct! I do have an odd expression, and that is because this is my own study, and I did not expect it to be in the House! A strange twist has occurred!” They took a breath after that unnecessarily loud proclamation, and stood up, brushing themself off. “Well. You were asking questions about my world, so this is your chance. Explore away, my friend.”
They’d never been all that concerned about privacy, so it didn’t bother them in the least to think of Myrnin digging through their life’s work. Some of it was even equations he’d given to them, not that any of it made sense to them just yet. To get him started, they hoisted a massive book off the top of the nearest shelf and dropped it on their desk, sending papers flying in every direction. “This,” they announced, opening the book to a random page, “is all we know about titans.”

"Really?" Myrnin said, sounding as amazed as he felt. "Maybe the House is actually being nice for once." He shuffled through the pieces of the paper he'd picked up. Hange hadn't protested when he had picked through their stuff. He was pleased when he saw of his own things here. They'd kept the equations he'd given them. They didn't, as far as he could see, have the equipment to carry out a majority of what he'd said. He approached the book Hange had set out, eyes scanning the text and other information. "All you know?" he repeated. He turned a page, blinking. "Are you sure?" He didn't doubt Hange, but he didn't have further information. "No mentors or other scientists doing similar research? No past records?" He stood straight again and asked brightly, "And you? Are you training anyone or have any apprentices?"

“Well, there may be some outliers who have research I haven’t gotten a hold of yet,” admitted Hange, watching the vampire poke around their study with no small amount of satisfaction. Sure, it wasn’t their real study, but it seemed to be an exact duplicate, and they’d been wanting to show their friend this place for a while. “But if there are, they haven’t cared to share their research. I am, as far as I’m aware, the one and only scientist in all of the Walls, unless you count the religious fanatics in Wall Sina.” Their tone made it fairly clear that they didn’t count them, but they moved on quickly. “No apprentices, sadly,” they said, heaving a longsuffering sigh. “Most among the Survey Corps value the pursuit of knowledge, but few have the necessary level of interest to pursue a career like my own.”
They waved their hand, as if brushing aside the whole sentiment. “Ah, but no matter! One takes what one can get. And you? Do you have a protege?”

Religious fanatics. Myrnin had to snort a bit at that. He wasn't really surprised that Hange had had such an experience. He knew so little about their world, but flipping through the information, he felt a small twitch at the back of his mind. As if he had seen them before. But no ... he just knew to be afraid of them because the people of Hange's world so clearly were of these ... creatures. "You have a great amount of information, regardless," he said, setting down the book they had shown him and moving back to looking over the other items. "I would assist, if I had the same context as you to make any sort of assumptions." He chuckled a bit, then held up the pieces of paper which detailed the information he had shared with Hange from before. "I could assist with these, though from what I can see of your ... lab? ... study? ... insert name of this room here? ... you don't have the equipment for measuring most of it. Do you have a microscope?" Whether that was a question on whether they existed or whether it was a question of whether Hange had one here or not wasn't made clear. "And yes. I have an apprentice. She is amazingly bright. Unfortunately, though she is the only one to thus far show the same interest as me, I have trouble when it comes to the fact that she is already physically older and will likely die long before I could possibly teach her everything I know." He looked sad at the thought. "Humans are short lived." He glanced at Hange and his expression changed to one which was slightly amused. "No offense."

Hange laughed out loud at his observations on humans. “Oh, no offense taken. We are a short lived species, compared to you and the Titans. A mere blip in your multi-century existence. Shame about your apprentice, though. I don’t suppose she’s open to joining you in the category of the undead?” They watched him as he flipped through the book, scanning his face for any sign of recognition. Did he remember any of this from when he was small? It certainly didn’t seem like it. Perhaps the House had tampered with his memories somehow, or perhaps...there really just weren’t many there at all, from his childhood. They’d seen that kind of thing before in humans, no reason it couldn’t happen to vampires, too.
Myrnin’s talk about the notes pulled them back into the real world, though. “Ah yes, your notes! As you’ve seen, I’ve made little progress on them so far, although some of your equations did prove to be helpful in some of the finer points of maneuver gear design.” At his question about their equipment, they frowned, concentrating on the foreign word. “Micro-scope?” They sounded it out carefully, frowning. “I’m afraid I’ve never heard of such a thing. What is it for?”

There was a second where Myrnin was just looking at Hange, an eyebrow rose just a bit at every word. Then he looked back down at their papers. "Maybe once she was. She has a family now. A husband and child, another on the way if I'm not much mistaken." There wasn't any regret in his voice. Claire chose the life she wanted. But it would leave Morganville in a tumultuous state if both he and she were to die. Something he didn't see coming any time soon, but was risky enough that it would throw ripples through his town if something close to it were to occur. He shuffled the papers he was holding and shrugged. He knew he should look into having a vampire apprentice, but there were no new vampires who showed such an interest. There weren't many new ones at all, other than Sam and that distasteful boy Jason. Both of which had other callings. No human possibilities either, as of yet. While he was thinking about this, he was completely unaware that Hange was thinking about a past - for Myrnin - that he did not, and possibly could not, think about. "Did they really?" he asked, looking up at Hange and smiling. "That's nice." Ah, yes, so they didn't know what a microscope was. Myrnin patted down his pockets until he found a pen. He'd almost forgotten that this wasn't Hange's actual office. He was tempted just to build one now. But considering the fact that it would just stop existing when they left, he doubted that would work. Instead, he rummaged around in the stacks of paper until he could find a blank side. Then he started drawing on the paper. "It's for magnifying something in great detail. Done and past the very cells in your body. Do you have anything like this by a different name?" He held out the picture. He'd even labeled some pieces in his spidery handwriting. "It would possibly be quite helpful in your study of Titans. But I only thought of it in relation to my notes, since I found this." He flipped the page over to the notes taken on when he had been talking to Hange about his own blood. "It's easier to show than tell, you see."

As soon as Hange saw the drawing, their eyes lit up with recognition, and they peered closer, reading through all the labels with their usual sense of intense curiosity. “Ahh, a magnifying glass! Yes, we do have those, although they’re difficult to come by - I’ve been working on building my own, recently. But this...”
They read down the page Myrnin showed them next, the pieces they’d been trying to sort out finally shifting into place in their mind. They seemed completely blown away no that they understood what they were reading, which was perhaps understandable considering the level of technology in their world.
“This is about blood? The magnification must be astonishingly powerful to be able to observe something at this level...our magnification abilities taper out at around twenty percent....but all this, about cells and blood ‘types’ - this is groundbreaking information. If I told someone back in my world about this, they would laugh to my face.”

"You could say that," said Myrnin, though his tone of voice bemoaned the fact he was making the comparison. It was like saying a set of binoculars was the same as a high-powered telescope. It was very far removed from being the same thing. But Hange had no concept of what he was talking about, so he was stuck with working off the limited knowledge. "Yes, that's what this is about. You would be able to tell that from human blood - blood type and cells. Some of the information I gave you wouldn't apply, since some of it is about vampire's blood." He allowed a smile of pure humor and knowledge of knowing something that sadly Hange had no ability to. "Vampire's cells are not the same as humans and we don't have blood types. That's just for starters. But I would be unable to show you if something like this did not exist. And a room seems the only way such technology can exist. It's a pity this is not my lab." Then he laughed, passing the piece of paper to Hange. "Invent it in your world then! Simple! Then they might laugh, but it would be impossible for them to do so for long!" He waved around the room and then asked, "Well ... this is a facsimile of your study! What would you like to do?"

I thought I replied to this already but apparently I fabricated that reality entirely wHOOPS)
Hange listened to what Myrnin had to say, but he was right - they didn’t have the baseline knowledge to understand what they were being told. Their brain would chew on it, though, and just maybe, maybe one day, something would click, and their world would move forward a little. At his comment about inventing their own, they laughed, the bright sound echoing around their usually-quiet study. “I like your enthusiasm! You’re quite right - it would be foolish of me to give up just because it hasn’t been done. And from what you’ve told me...there’s an entire world that could be opened to us.”
They clasped their hands behind their back and twirled around once, just barely keeping their balance as their shoe skidded on the ragged wood floor. “Hmmm.....ah, shall we see if the House has been kind enough to replicate my specimens? At this point in time, back in my world, I have two Titans in captivity not far from here at all. I would be very curious to hear your observations!”

"Of course!" Myrnin said joyfully. He loved the opportunity. There were a lot of reasons to learn about Hange's world when they talked about it, but he enjoyed the first hand experience far more. He pointed to the door. "Just through here, I assume, yes?" He glanced back at Hange, reaching for the handle. He turned it and pulled the door open, entering the room beyond. Hange should have taken the lead, he knew, but he thought it would be much more entertaining to go first himself. Which might have been the case if he'd just entered an unfamiliar room. "I don't think this is right," he said, frowning. This was directed at the House more than Hange. "Frank!" he shouted. "Turn on the lights!" He only shouted because he didn't know if Frank was actually going to answer. To his surprise, there was several colorful curses from above him and then the lights flickered on. They weren't in Myrnin's lab. They were below it. Which was hilarious. That, according to some people, meant where he currently was was the sub-subbasement. At the surface was a shack of a house, below the house was Myrnin's lab (in the 'basement') and then even further down was the tunnels. That's where they were. The door had come out of a tunnel wall, where Myrnin knew no door had been before. There were electric lights along the ceiling, bare bulbs allowing harsh electric lights to illuminate the concrete tunnel he and Hange were in. "Apparently the House can't decide where it wants us," said Myrnin. "This is Morganville. Or it's under it anyway." He pointed down the tunnel. "Frank's that way." The name he had just shouted. He pointed up at the speakers which were almost impossible to see until he'd pointed out their location near the lights. "Well, he's sort of everywhere. His body is that way though." There was a low crackle of white noise, as if Frank found Myrnin's statement distasteful. But like he'd mostly ignored the curses, Myrnin ignored Frank as well. "At least I might be able to show you the main room. If the House decides to let me." He started walking, then tossed back, "Don't go down any side passages. At least not without me. It isn't human friendly down here." It was only a few steps to enter the room. There was a hulking computer in the center of the lit room. And by hulking, that description looked like someone had shoved every idea of 'steampunk' and 'scary' and 'impressive' into a single piece of technology. It looked like some many legged beast crouching, half in and half out of the darkness. It was very 'Myrnin' style. "Did you want to come out Frank?" asked Myrnin, looking at the computer like he might a human. The computer flickered to life, screen blazing to life, but just showing blue screens. "No," said a male voice from somewhere on the computer. In it. Probably from some speaker. (Looks a bit like this. Tunnel: Mint's attempt to draw the computer anyway: It's a lot bigger than that, but it just goes deeper into the back of the room, past where the lights can reach it.)

ooooh pretty :ooo)
“Yes, right through here,” confirmed Hange, and stepped through after him, fully expecting to find themself in the outer hall, near where the scout recruits normally practiced. Instead, though, they were plunged into darkness, and the scientist had to stop short to stop themself from stumbling further into the blackness. “No, this isn’t right at all - “ they began, but they were interrupted by Myrnin’s shout to some person named ‘Frank’. Ah...now they understood. The House had switched them to Myrnin’s world.
Even with this knowledge, they jumped when the lights came on, and blinked rapidly, momentarily blinded by the dramatic change. When their eyes cleared, they drew in a short breath, staring up at the light bulbs as if they were something much more wondrous than they were. “Ah...the electronic lights from the glass house...” As Myrnin indicated Frank, they followed his gaze, a bit of confusion evident in their gaze that only grew as Myrnin began to explain. He’d lost them completely with all the talk of someone being ‘everywhere’, with their body somewhere else, and they were itching to ask questions, but held their tongue for the moment in anticipation of what they were about to be shown.
As the computer came into view, they stepped forward, hands reaching out to touch the interface but pulling back at the last moment as they hesitated. “This is...” A box? With buttons? And a glass panel? Lots of wires. And this was someone’s body? “This is...” they tried again, but again, found themself a bit lost for words. “What is this?” they settled on at last, giving up on finding a definition for the strange contraption.

Myrnin couldn't help couldn't help chuckling. The reaction from Hange was, if not priceless, than very expensive. "This is Frank," he said, coming to stand beside them. They had almost run their hands over the metal and plastic of the machine and Myrnin was glad they had waited. He looked down at the keyboard. It was far larger than any regular one and keys all along it seemed to hold odd symbols as well as English ones. Myrnin wondered if the House would translate it all or leave it mysterious. It wouldn't matter either way. It was just a keyboard. He gently took their hand and pulled it a bit so they could touch the keyboard. "He doesn't bite. Well, he can. Just don't poke any wires or spikes." He also nodded toward a nondescript panel. "Or that. Though some of your blood would allow me to show you something." He didn't worry about whether Hange would or not. "This is the computer that runs Morganville. Frank, this is Hange. Hange, this is Frank." There was a sniff from one of the speakers. It sounded offended. "This is … what? The fourth unregistered being in Morganville in the past two years?" It wasn't a question so much as an exclamation. "I will not be responsible for it, leech." Myrnin rolled his eyes. "Give it up," he muttered. He looked over the array of readouts along a panel and dash. House generated version of his world or not, his actions were the same. While he moved around, he narrated to Hange, "Frank has more abilities than your average computer, but I doubt you even know what a computer is. Think of it as a gateway to all of human knowledge in one place … with a bunch of complete myth thrown in to keep you on your toes. Then there is my own knowledge thrown in - which is two thousand years worth of intelligence if I do say so myself. And finally whatever meager use Frank brought to the whole matter when I hooked him up to this thing." Myrnin scowled. He placed his own hand on the nondescript pad which he'd pointed out to Hange. Several needle-like spikes sprang from it. Myrnin neither flinched nor had much of a reaction at all. He'd clearly done this many times. He adjusted one of the read-out panels so he could watch it creep from yellow to green. "That," he said, using a free hand to point to a place behind Hange. "Is a keyboard. You type commands and information into it. Or I could say it and it would work just the same … if Frank actually cared to interpret what I say correctly. Computer don't usually have a mind of their own but -" "But," Frank cut in drily. "The bloodsucker decided to install one of his own." "That too," Myrnin said with a slight sigh. "Well, not my own. I tried that. It didn't work out." There was a harsh, muttered growl from Frank. "Are you quite done?" asked Myrnin. The needles at his hand retracted. He took his hand away and the thin red dots of blood along his hands almost at once healed. Instead, Myrnin turned to Hange. "He'll keep arguing until the lightbulbs burn out if he can. Just ignore him." In truth, it was an even split of blame for who was keeping it going. "Was there something you wanted to seen or explained?" Not like he could just explain everything without direction. He hoped Hange had some ideas.

“Pleased to meet you, Frank,” said Hange, eyes so wide they were quite reminiscent of an owl’s. They watched in stunned silence as Myrnin first explained safety(which they ignored completely, truth be told), then moved to explaining what the contraption actually did. All in all, Myrnin was lucky that it was Hange who had stumbled into here and not someone else from their world - they were probably the sole individual from there who could even begin to grasp what was being explained to them.
“You type...” they said, following Myrnin’s gesture as he first impaled his own hand like it was nothing, then pointed to a space behind them. “Keyboard, keyboard...oh! I see! It’s a typewriter!” Excitement coursed through them as they found the first piece of equipment they even remotely recognized. It gave them some hope that they could retain some of this, which they wanted to, because it was fascinating. “So you use this to print words, and then the ko....” They frowned, stumbling a little over the pronunciation of the unfamiliar word. “Compuuuter...reads them and acts accordingly. How interesting!”
As Myrnin asked if there was anything they wanted explained, they reacted by spinning around and slamming their hand down on the panel Myrnin had used earlier. They winced, biting their tongue as the needles shot through their hand, but it didn’t seem to deter them in the slightest, and they turned back to the vampire, hand still stuck on the panel. “What was it you said you could show me with this? That’s question #1.”
