Welcoming
Greetings, traveler. It seems you have wandered over our border if I am not mistaken. I am Dovestar, the leader of MeadowClan. MeadowClan lives beyond the flowerfields, hidden from the world by the grassy banks in a hollow where the ground once gave away underpaw. We live and hunt peacefully in our territory and have no qualms with travelers; you might see our borders from where we stand - the forest on one side, and the river on the other. From an early age our kits are taught to run as fast as the wind may carry them, and we pride ourselves on our StarClan-given speed. You may notice that our Clan is far more diverse than one might assume at first glance; we often take in strangers who are willing to adjust to our way of life, and many of my warriors are not the children of earlier ones. I myself was once a kittypet, as were many of my Clanmates. Here, we do not discriminate based on birth. We are willing to accept all who wish to join us, if they, in turn, are willing to accept us.
Welcome, friend, to MeadowClan.
Welcome, friend, to MeadowClan.
History
The history of MeadowClan begins, quite unusually, with a kittypet named Dandelion who strayed too far from home. It was among the rolling hills and the ocean of red, purple, yellow and white that he found himself one day, and he was mesmerised by the beauty of nature in its true, untouched glory. It was not long before he discovered a small group of cats already living there, thriving against all odds; it did not take much convincing for him to abandon his former life and choose to start anew with these cats, as he found himself quite infatuated with a member of their group named Meadow. There they lived for many, many moons, and Dandelion's family grew and grew.
Until one day. The weather had not been kind to them, and the flowerfields had been assaulted relentlessly by tumultuous storms for days on end. Dandelion wished to retreat to the woodlands, where they might be less exposed to the elements, but the others refused to leave the flowerfields they had called their home for so long.
During the night, the ground beneath their paws collapsed. Dandelion and his children managed to escape the landslide relatively unharmed along with a few of their group, but Meadow was not so lucky. Dandelion searched day after day for his beloved, but as time passed the potential truth became graver. Eventually, he found her: washed up on the shore of the river, lifeless and cold. He swore that he would continue on in her name, and build a home that she would have loved.
That night, Meadow visited Dandelion in his dreams, accompanied by starry cats that he did not recognise. On StarClan's instruction Dandelion took the name Dandelionstar, and became the first leader of a Clan he devoted to his beloved. Together with his children he built MeadowClan's camp and established their territory, and offered refuge to wanderers who crossed their borders. He established the Clan's Code, and found new wisdom iCn StarClan that resonates strongly within the Clan to this day.

Territory
CAMP: The MeadowClan camp is located beneath a grassy bank, in a hollow in the ground that was not always there. Seasons ago, during an incredibly rainy season, the ground collapsed to leave the hollow that would become MeadowClan's home. There is a well-trodden grassy incline leading down into the camp from the territory, but the MeadowClan cats see no need for a barrier of thorns or brambles, as the drop from the moors above is quite a steep one.
THE FLOWERFIELDS: The flowerfields make up the vast majority of MeadowClan's territory. A wide stretch of gentle slopes and flat ground, from atop the hills surrounding the MeadowClan camp the flowerfields are an ocean of colour (except in leafbare, of course). Rabbits run wild here as MeadowClan's main source of prey, and mice and other small creatures are plentiful. It is not uncommon for one to catch any one of many types of small birds who are drawn by the brightly-coloured flowers.
THE HILLS: The Clan's easternmost hunting grounds are largely occupied by a group of steep hills. In order to reach the Starhill, one must cross the hills from the MeadowClan camp, which is located to the west of this area. Birds are more common here, as the majority of ground prey prefers the cover offered by the tall grass of the flowerfields. Apprentices are brought here during the early days of their training to practice endurance exercises and improve their strength.
THE FOREST: The forest forms MeadowClan's easternmost border. MeadowClan warriors rarely venture into the woods, as they do not train or hunt among the trees and prefer the open spaces of the flowerfields and the hills. Occasionally squirrels and forest birds can be found on the very edge of the territory, providing the Clan with extra food. During one particularly harsh leafbare many seasons ago, MeadowClan temporarily expanded its territory into the woods. It is not known by any living MeadowClan cat what lies beyond the treeline, although there are many rumours floating around the camp.
THE RIVER: The river borders MeadowClan territory to the west, and provides the Clan with drinking water and the occasional fish, if one is that way inclined when it comes to their food. A fallen log wedged between two smooth rocks provides a crossing point for any cat who desires to leave MeadowClan territory. Apprentices are warned to stay away from the river during bouts of bad weather, as the current can become very strong.
SUNSTONES: The Sunstones lie along the east bank of the river that borders MeadowClan territory, and are popular among the Clan's queens and elders due to the warmth of the stones in the summer. Prey here is rather scarce due to how strong the MeadowClan scents are, so it is a poor hunting area even in greenleaf.
STARHILL: MeadowClan's most sacred place, the Starhill is the tallest hill on the moor, and is therefore the closest to Silverpelt. The medicine cats of MeadowClan come here every half-moon to converse and share dreams with their warrior ancestors, and it is to here that leaders journey to receive their nine lives. Atop the hill stands a solitary tree known as the Moontree, bleached white by the sun and leafless. At its highest point, the moon appears as though it is sitting in the tree's branches, hence its name.
TRAINING FIELD: The training field is the only stretch of flat land in MeadowClan territory that has less flowers than grass, and so it has become the most popular place for mentors and apprentices to practice battle moves and hunting techniques. It is located beyond the flowerfields and the river can be seen clearly from here.
TWOLEGPLACE: The twolegplace can be found beyond the flowerfields on the southernmost border of MeadowClan territory. It is not uncommon for twolegs and their dogs to venture into MeadowClan territory and walk through the flowerfields or along the treeline, but MeadowClan cats are taught from an early age to stay well away from them. Unusually, the edge of the twolegplace is frequented by MeadowClan cats, as many MeadowClan warriors find mates in the kittypets who live there. As their first leader and founder was a kittypet, MeadowClan not only tolerates but welcomes the presence of kittypets and their children in their Clan. Many of the kittypets in the twolegplace are purebred pedigrees, and while the MeadowClan cats do not tend to understand the concept of pedigrees or why they are important, the reason is due to a high-profile cat show that takes place annually nearby.

Camp
LEADER'S DEN: The leaders' den is located opposite the entrance of the camp, between the elders' den and the medicine den. A shallow dug-out space in the steep dirt wall surrounding the camp provides minimal shelter. The den is big enough for
MEDICINE DEN: One of the only two dens in the camp that is entirely protected from the elements, the medicine den is situated in the walls of the camp itself. The cave entrance is wide, but partially screened by a barrier of tall grass. It isn't necessarily large, and can only house a couple of patients at a time as well as the medicine cats.
WARRIORS' DEN: The warriors' den is the largest den in the camp. Originally it was smaller, but as the Clan grew expansions had to be made. The den is dug slightly into the ground, and is a long, wide shallow scoop that curves with the wall of the camp. The warriors are allowed to decorate their nests as they please with moss, feathers and anything else they find comfortable.
APPRENTICES' DEN: The apprentices' den is similar to the warriors' den, only smaller. It is located on the opposite side of camp and is partially dug into the ground. New apprentices tend to find comfort in sleeping next to their littermates or friends, so the nests here are quite close together. Like the warriors' den it is open entirely to the elements.
NURSERY: Much like the medicine den, the nursery is completely protected from the weather as it is located in a cave inside the camp wall with a wide mouth. The den is open to the camp, which means that the kits can play outside with their mothers easily being able to keep an eye on them. It is located between the elders' den and the warriors' den.
ELDERS' DEN: The elders' den can be found between the leaders' den and the nursery, and is dug partially into the dirt wall surrounding the camp. MeadowClan's elders are toughened by their seasons of service, and so the majority do not mind sleeping out in the open as it is what they are used to; the oldest MeadowClan cats, however, are welcome to build their nests beneath the shelter offered to them by the back half of their den if they so wish, although they tend not to mind either way.

Traditions
MeadowClan cats believe strongly in StarClan, and have an easy-going, peaceful relationship with their ancestors, who are just as tolerant as the surviving MeadowClanners when it comes to outsiders. While there are no set-in-stone rules about belief when it comes to StarClan and the things that one would associate with them, it is common belief that each star in Silverpelt represents a singular ancestor. Some might say that Silverpelt is a representation of Meadow, Dandelionstar's mate and lifelong love, and that the moon is her eye.
Flowers hold a great significance to MeadowClan. Beauty is greatly valued in MeadowClan, and the flowers of the flowerfields are considered to be among the most beautiful things of all. When a MeadowClan kit turns 6 moons old and is named an apprentice, they must journey out into the territory with their mentor to find a flower, plant or herb that they 'connect' with. Some cats choose to wear these at all times, and frequently go out to gather new ones, but the majority of MeadowClanners only wear them to attend ceremonies.
For two cats to become mates is an important event in life in MeadowClan, and so it is treated as such: there is a courting ritual that must be followed in order for the coupling to be approved in the eyes of the Clan. When a cat wishes to confess their feelings to another, they must present a flower or plant identical to their own to the subject of their affections. If it is accepted, then the other cat will return the gesture. Flowers and feathers should be gathered by one or both parties and placed in the other's nest.
MeadowClanners pride themselves on their great speed, agility and endurance. Young apprentices are taken by their mentors to the hills, where they will be tested on these three things. Apprentices will run up to the very top of a hill and then back down in order to improve their strength and endurance, and it is the responsibility of mentors to have their apprentices challenge their denmates to races across the training field. During an apprentice's warrior assessment, their mentor will challenge them to a race from the training field to the top of the Starhill.
When a warrior ceremony takes place, the newly named warrior must accompany the leader and their former mentor to the Starhill in order to be presented to StarClan as a warrior of MeadowClan. Upon their return they will sit vigil until dawn.
