Leon closed her eyes, preparing her nagic should she need it, but then she slowed and was rose back up.
It was weird to be floating, but strangely cool and she would be lying if she said she wasn't tempted to do it again.
His question caused her to smirk, "Your curse just saved my life," she smugly remarked. "Case in point." She said, glancing at the drop bellow her.
(Someone's confidence goes low and their like.
"I can't do this"
Leon: "wanna get?" And risks her life to make them do it.
What a confidence boost XD.)

Zacharias couldn't hold back the smile that was soon enveloping his expression. "You're crazy, you know that?" He said with a laugh. And that much was extremely true. His gaze softened at her words, but he didn't take them to heart much. How could he? In a world where possessing such 'gifts' meant persecution, it seemed pretty hard to accept them.
You have no idea... he wanted to say. He wanted to tell her of his curse. The curse which had burdened his heart for the past twelve years of his life.
The true curse.

She laughed slightly, "Yes," she responded, happy to see his mood lifted some.
"So why are you here acting like some staff member?" She asked, eyebrow raised, remaining exactly where she was, "and how did you pull it off?" She questioned, before glancing behind her again.
The dungeons bellow.

Leon's words pulled him away from his train of thought, which he was ultimately thankful for. He grinned slightly, then launched into the story. "Oh, you know... knocked a few heads, donned a few outfits." He looked down at the white button-up shirt he was wearing. It was stolen from a server who - hopefully - was sleeping rather soundly inside of a small pantry.
"And then - as you probably noticed - I took one of the drink trays into the main event. At which point I may or may not have told a lady that it was red wine."
Not red wine, he thought again, smiling at the recent memory.

Christopher blinked a few times feeling something odd going on in his stomach and spreading to his chest. He tried to ignore it thinking it was just the wine not kicking in yet. However, he started feeling dizzy and he suddenly felt hot and cold at the same time. He takes a small step back and lets out a few sudden coughs. His cup drops to the floor and suddenly he started swaying back and forth. "W-What is going on?" He mumbled looking over at his wife for a brief second before falling to his knees.

Leon smirked at his explanation. Yet her eyes went wide when he mentioned the wine, "Was it not actually red wine?" She asked through a laugh.
"Yeah, mister Grump over here wanted trout," she started, "and I, being the sweet girl I am," not "I came up with this idea, went to steal the dress, hooded, of course, but that red haired menace was there." She said with a sigh.
"So Zelos runs off, and I had to run into her." She noted with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
She abruptly stopped as a chorus a screams could be heard from inside the castle. Her eyes went wide, glancing at the two boys, before climbing back over the railing to run back into the castle.

Eldred was about to reply to Drusilla when the king began his speech, which of course the man watched politely. Despite the fact that in his long years working in the palace he had heard almost every speech a king could give, and so this one was nothing wildly new.
It was at that moment though, that the king collapsed to the ground. Something was definitely wrong.
The advisor rose to from his seat, hurrying towards the king and beckoning Drusilla to come as well. They might need the help of a healer if the king could be saved. Which may not be possible.
“Your Majesty?” Eldred said as he looked over the king. He didn’t look good.
Then he turned his gaze to the cup of wine. The king had chugged most of it, but not all. Eldred thought he could see traces of a powdery substance on the inside of the cup. Poison. And it would have to be a fast working one, one that the king wouldn’t taste in the wine.
“As I suspected,” Eldred said to Drusilla “he’s been poisoned, I originally thought it was Deadly Nightshade. It’s the only plant I could think of that might have these effects. But it’s some sort of powder, so it can’t be that and now I’m really not certain. I don’t know if the king can be saved, but you're welcome to try.”
Eldred had his magic, but it would be useless here. There were some things magic just could not do. They didn’t even know what the poison was. Perhaps one of Eldred’s books could have the answer.
He turned his gaze to the queen now.
“Your Majesty, have you drunk any of the wine?” Eldred asked her.

Zach gave a laugh as she asked her question, to which he tried in vain to answer 'no'. She then began to explain her side of the night, and he listened, intrigued as she mentioned that Drusilla had been with her when she stole the dress.
So that's why you were acting so strangely around her, Zach thought, listening further to her explaining the story.
And then suddenly a mumble of loud voices shifted to screams, echoing throughout the hallways of the castle. Leon reacted first, to which Zacharias was slightly surprised.
"Leon!" he called out, heavily annoyed that she was racing back into the castle. He hesitated, selfishly thinking that the commotion could mean that he would be able to make an easy escape.
But then a wave of guilt washed over him, and he raced after his crazy friend.

The second the king began to choke and fell to the ground, Drusilla was already on her feet. She rushed after Eldred, pushing through the crowd with no semblance of politeness. "Move, move, get out of my way!" Halfway go the king, she kicked off her stupid shoes, able to run much faster without them slowing her down.
At the king's side, she knelt down and examined his face. His eyes were rolled back into his head, his skin pale and clammy. Eldred's words lead her to picking up the goblet. A thin, powdery substance caked the inside of the cup, swirling about in the remnants of the wine."This is no deadly nightshade," she muttered in agreement.
To the shock of those around her, she did little for the king other than move him to make him more comfortable. "There's very little I can do, your highness. Without knowing what the poison is, it's impossible for me to find or make an antidote."
With that being said, Dru would die herself before she gave up and stopped trying. She couldn't give the king tonics knowing so little and, as it stood, she didn't have her usual supply with her. Giving up on a person dying before her eyes was not an option.
Anger bubbled in her chest at the outrage of it all. What incompetent guard allowed someone to slip something into the king's own drink?
"I need a guard!" Dru shouted into the screaming of the crowd. When no one responded, she raised her voice and viciously snapped, "Your king is dying and your jobs are on the line. I suggest you stop standing there with your mouths hanging open and move it."
At long last, two guards hustled their way over. Dru directed them to pick up the king--gently, she ushered them--and move him. Not only was it distracting to work in a crowd of sobbing and screaming guests, the king needed a proper bed, and Drusilla needed access to the palace's medicinal room.
"Your majesty," Drusilla said to the queen, meeting the woman's gaze and bunching up her dress so that it wouldn't drag across the ground. "I would like to request that you come with me. The king may...wish for your presence by his side."
The king may die.
Those words hung heavily in the air, though Dru did not say them out loud.

Zahavi stood frozen nearby, unable to move a muscle. He watched his father fall to the ground, watched him convulse from the effects of whatever he had consumed. The screams and murmuring of the crowd echoed in his ears:
He's been poisoned. The king is going to die. Our king is dead.
The king, poisoned? His father, strong and beloved, dying?
It was an impossible thought to wrap his mind around, so much so that he could do more than stare. He felt warm tears trailing down his cheeks, but was too stunned to brush them away. He didn't move a muscle until the guards, following Drusilla's orders, began to move his father away.
Zahavi reached for his father, stopped by a guard who kept him at bay. Quiet, with his voice shaking, he murmured, "Papa?"
The great prince was reduced to nothing more than a crying, shaking child. Weak and, without the whininess that typically accompanied his words, he appeared much younger than he truly was. All appearances were gone, thrown out at the sight of his father's limp body. No more high and proper prince, goodbye to the prince that stood firmly at his family's side.
Zahavi wailed, the way only someone in real distress could.

Zander felt his heart race as the king falls to the ground. He resists the urge to smile knowing that would surely give him away. "Whoever served the king should be locked up!" He called out above all the noise. He pointed to some servants who looked equally horrified. "Someone should seize them and throw them into the dungeon for questioning!" A few guards raced towards the two servants and started dragging them away. Zander looked back at the king to see that he was being dragged away. Sorry your highness but the Valderas send their regards!

”I will come with you,” Eldred said to Drusilla, “I will gather any books I possess that may help us determine the origin of this poison and then I will meet you in the infirmary. In the meantime, try absolutely anything that you think has a chance of working.”
He surely must have something that could be of some use, and if he didn’t then he would go through the library. No stone could be left unturned when it came to the king’s life, and Eldred was not about to neglect his duties to the king.
And when Drusilla spoke to the queen, asking that she come with her, Eldred addressed the queen as well.
“And if you have taken some of the wine, we need to get you to the infirmary too, Your Majesty. The poison may simply be working more slowly in you or you may not have taken as much as the king. But either way we don’t know the lethality of this poison and it’s our priority to get you somewhere you can be treated.”
But Zander’s words then caught the elderly man’s attention, and he whipped his gaze over to the gentleman
“My apologies, my lord,” Eldred shouted over the commotion to Zander “but I must have missed the big crown on your head to say you’re in charge now. I appreciate your loyalty to the King, but I’d like to remind you that all power currently lies with the Queen or, should she fall ill too, Prince Zahavi. You do not have authority here. I agree the servants should be investigated, but if they are to be questioned it shall certainly not be arranged by you. It will occur through official channels.”
He did not believe Zander had any malicious intent, he had always been a trustworthy person in the past and right now there was no reason to believe anything different, but the royal advisor wanted to make it perfectly clear to Zander and everybody else in the palace that the chaos was not an excuse for anarchy. Power still lay with Zahavi and the Queen, along with those they trusted most.
And it was Zahavi that Eldred addressed next, moving to the boy.
“Your Highness,” he said, “we’re going to try to figure all this out, don’t worry. You may come with us to the infirmary if you wish as long as you don’t impede the work being done there. We are going to try to fix this. But in the meantime you have to be strong, do you understand?”
And with all that established, Eldred left the room. Now he had to go and attempt to find any texts he may have that could be helpful to their situation.

"Mother," Zahavi gasped as the queen collapsed, long before she ever reached his father. He grabbed her gently beneath the arms, vision blurred through tears as he tried to help her stand. "I'm alright, mother, let's...let's get you to the infirmary. I didn't drink any of the wine."
I was too busy being bored to celebrate a toast with my parents.
Zahavi was relieved that he had been too preoccupied to take a drink with his family, and yet, the guilt of being relieved in such a situation was quick to settle onto his shoulders.
Eldred's words about being strong rang sharply in his ears, as did the strange man--Zander's--command to send the servants to the dungeon for questioning. His mind was whirling, chaotic thoughts filtering too fast to focus on any single one. He did, however, manage to at last find his voice.
"No servants are to be taken to the dungeons," the prince breathed, eyes wild, and shot the guards a burning look. The accused servants were crying, begging, and Zahavi could not ignore their desperate pleas for mercy. Zahavi wiped at his eyes, tried to hide the shaking in his voice with outrage. "Until there is solid evidence that a culprit has been found, I do not want a single citizen to be wrongly arrested of any crime that they have not committed. In the meantime, this matter will be left to the castle's Commander and his most trusted soldiers. Guests will be escorted back to their carriages."
For the very first time in his life, Zahavi was taking a little initiative and being responsible. His heart was pounding so fast, his chest ached, and he could scarcely breathe from the pressure. But his mother was weak and ill in his arms, his father being carried away by guards.
His parents could die. In a single night, he could lose everything.
"This gala is over," was the last thing Zahavi said before he left, helping his mother along with him.
In the infirmary, Drusilla was rushing to look through glass jars filled with various dried plants, powders and liquids. She pushed jar after jar away, mumbling to herself, oddly calm despite the situation. "Wormroot, burdock, thyme… Here," she said, grabbing a bottle of a thin murky liquid off the bottom shelf. As Zahavi settled his mother into a bed, next to the king, Dru uncorked the bottle. She poured it into a glass, added a red powder Zahavi didn't recognize, and poured half the resulting liquid into a second cup.
"I doubt this will cure it," Drusilla admitted. "But it may help steady their breathing and reduce any pain. It's the best I can do without knowing what I'm dealing with here. Eldred, help the queen drink hers. She may not be well enough to do it on her own."

Zander seemed annoyed for a few minutes before bowing his his head to Eldred then to Zahavi. "Forgive me for being so quick." He answered taking a step back. Everyone just had to be so logical and compassionate around here. For now, he turned his body and decided to help the guests out. I need to remember that the old man might need to go in the future. "Come along everyone no pushing!"

Leon was justified in being confused, really. But when she spotted Drusilla and Eldred running towards two forms that fell, she didn't know what to think. A sick part of her suggested taking out the boy, taking over rule herself, but she shook it off.
Glancing towards the boy, Zahavi, she saw a piece of herself reflected there. She pushed closer, past Zander. Call it her daily act of kindness, she didn't care about the royals, but no one needed to die.
She picked up the cup, glancing at it, and in curiosity she raised her other hand above it, raising the liquid into it, though hidden still as she turned away from the commotion. Her eyes widened, stepping back and dropping the glass cup, which shattered, and the liquid.
"Nemean's Curse," she said, eyes wide.
(Better names open for suggestion. Currently the name come from the lore of Nemea, Greece-killed by the Nemean Lion before it was killed by Hercules(?).)

Zacharias had to sprint to keep up pace with Leon, and he traveled in her wake as she shoved her way through the crowd. He wasn't sure, but in his peripheral Zach had noticed two raised figures collapsing to the floor. He arrived at the scene just behind Leon, and was thrust into a state of shock.
The king and queen. Both had collapsed and were now being carried away by Drusilla, Eldred, and others he didn't know. At Leon's mention of the curse, Zach simply shook his head. He had no idea what it was, but surely it resembled nothing pleasant.
"What do we do for it?" He asked urgently, hoping beyond hope that if she knew what the curse was so readily then she would be able to pinpoint the cure.
