Is that they don't have her still pining after Cloudtail and jealous of Brightheart after all this time, and that Spiderleg was her attempt at trying to get over it or something and that's part of the reason why she leaves.
There's nothing necessarily wrong with this kind of plot, but it's already been done before (granted, not that that's stopped the Erins and editors from repeating plotlines anyway) and it'd really just make her look pathetic if she kept on hoping for something to happen years after she'd joined ThunderClan and had even assured Brightheart that Cloudtail did indeed love her.

ouch, that would suck for her. i don't think daisy needs romantic love anyways. part of me does hope to see her interact with spiderleg though. hopefully they are good friends and nothing else. i don't want them to actually be mates again

I wish Daisy hadnt been done so dirty and was actually given a loving mate. I would have been 100% ok with Rainwhisker becoming her mate and actually being a loving partner and good father.
That being said, I definitely hope her novella isn't just about her failed love life. I genuinely grew to love Daisy and she has/had so much potential to be a good character. The fact that strayed from traditional warrior life and instead did what she did best and help Queens was wonderful. At this point she's raised 90% of the Clan and should be well loved and honored. I honestly can't picture any reason she would leave ThunderClan now that she's been through so much with them. I hope the novella focuses instead on her unique position in ThunderClan and her relationship with those related to her by blood or by bond.

However, they did seem to be on decent terms and Kate also said that he really did love Daisy, so who knows? I do hope we'll get to see exactly how she felt about Spiderleg, though.

Okay, this is seriously the opportunity to give Mousewhisker, Berrynose and Rosepetal some serious spotlight too. Hell, even flashbacks of Hazeltail and Toadstep. Daisy’s kits are all very interesting to me. Also, I loved how they did Spiderleg and Daisy, and I want to see how Daisy felt about his death and ect.
Because seriously, you can split up but still love eachother as friends and the second parent to your kits. SpiderDaisy is so so similar to my own family and seeing how mature their split up was, and how Spiderleg did try his best to be a father to the best of his abilities and Daisy being mature about it too, it resonates deeply with me.

Also I will defend Spiderleg and Daisy and their break up with my life. It was a great thing to add to the books imo.

Sometimes I feel sorry that Daisy didn't really have that much of a loving mate. And I would be annoyed if she was still pining for Cloudtail.

I think of Daisy and Spiderleg's relationship as very off putting. When I found out about them having kits I was like wtf, since when did he care this much about her?I don't remember him being very attracted to her.But I guess he pulled a Ross.Got wasted or something and accidently slept with her. That's the best reason I can come up with and he does say the relationship was a mistake

OH, MAN. PROBABLY INCOHERENT RAMBLES AHEAD, CAUSE LET ME THROW OUT A HELL YEAH FOR THIS UPCOMING NOVELLA.
Y'all know how much I adore Daisy and Ferncloud, so I am pumped for her novella! But also anxious as hell that they'll write it as you mentioned, Moth. I've been defending Daisy for years against people insulting her for being "lazy" and "useless" to the Clan. If they make her out to be a jealous and harpy-like over Cloudtail being with Brightheart, I'll be pissed -- especially with her amazing character development from TNP onward, and her awesome screentime in Bramblestar's Storm, which was one of its few saving graces for me (seriously, Daisy, ilu). If it's based on the past, I can kinda understand it, but I don't want them to overdo it and make her totally unbearable. I want to read about her leaving the barn bravely because she was desperate to protect her kits, and then joining the Clan, even though the wildcats completely terrified her, and she was basically scared of everything. I don't want to have to read every 3-4 pages about how she's jealous of Brightheart, or whining about how hard life in ThunderClan is. This book could potentially show us "behind the scenes" (since we see her in the POV characters' chapters, but not in depth) of her just complaining and doing nothing, yet expecting to be pampered, and I'd hate if that happened. I mostly want this book to focus on her, as well as her kits and growing to love ThunderClan as her family, and her having scenes with her Clanmates that show her bonds with them. I'm warily hopeful on this front, since Redtail's Debt did a good job with showing us how close the cays was to one another, and Redtail's relationship with his friends and family.
Everyone, cross your fingers that Harper Collins won't make the Erins write Daisy in a horrible light and regress character-wise. If they do, I'll have to finally take one for the team and burn down their headquarters in New York, never mind that I'm on the whole other side of the country. Don't test me, Harper Collins (I'm kidding...kinda...sorta...yes, I am).
And as a sidenote, another pressing thought I have is that this might end in her death or implies she might die sometime in TBC. They've had so many cats still alive and kicking from literally the first couple books in TPB, and with her being younger than those characters, she should never die, either. And yes, I'm hypocritical because I'm always calling for a purge in the Clans (well, notably ThunderClan, but the others, too). However, consider this: I love Daisy, so she needs to live forever. Give me this one thing, Harper, as someone who's been reading Warriors since Rising Storm was published and followed every book ever since. Oh, and I'm a nice friggin' person, so I deserve this!!! ;p (again, I'm joking, y'all lol)
I'm too lazy to grab the meme and edit it, but...
me: no fear possibility: we read daisy dying in her novella and/or it's hinted she passes away in this arc me: one (1) fear

Mayflower, it's not based on the past and it'll actually take place between Veil of Shadows and whatever the fourth book will be called. According to the official website: That said, this doesn't make me any less anxious that they'll still have her be jealous as like a sort of secondary reason for why she leaves or something. I'm glad she's getting the praise she deserves, but there's still that nagging feeling in the back of my mind that they'll just ruin her character somehow. Basically I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic here.

I totally agree with everything that's been said so far in this thread. I really love Daisy and I think she's an amazing character. I'd be interested in Daisy's Kin being about her life before she came to the Clans, tbh, but I'll be happy with anything as long as I feel like it does her and her development as a character justice.
