okay! im not completely sure what direction you'd want to take, but i assume this would most likely end up as a clan, not a tribe or other thing. but i had this really different idea for 'aligned' cats. cats who are aligned towards either the sun, moon, or void (think of it as mind/body/spirit). not in different clans, just different beliefs. i like to think that perhaps, very strongly aligned cats (this is rare and we'd moderate it, of course) have very subtle abilities. such as the moon aligned cats may have strong intuition or slight psychic abilities. sun-aligned cats may have bursts of physical strength and a great sense of direction, and void-aligned cats can sense souls or auras around them. i have more notes but this is just a lil teaser to see if you like the idea :'o
im not sure how to correctly compare this, but maybe jedis and sith? the cats are all part of the same clan, but have different beliefs and such.

ooh! i really like that idea. “Clan wise” they could have different ranks, and different sub factions inside the clan. Say, the Moon faction was called just that, and had a deputy, warriors, apprentices aligned to said faction, comparable to all three factions. It could also be cool to see the breeding types, say a sunaligned Queen gives birth to a void aligned toms kits, gets one sun aligned, one void aligned, and a special sun/void mix? those would be rare and we could have it where that only happens once in a great while, which could be a part of a plot (:

i don't really think alignments would mix, it's more like a personal choice kinda thing. like religion? i think i can have it make more sense if i show you all my notes, sorry for being confusing xD i actually heavily based in on hogwarts houses mixed with religion stuff. i can't see a cat being like 'oh, i'm both!', it's more like they're pressured to choose one when they become apprentices. sorry if im coming off as pushy or anything like that, just trying to clarify what i mean ;o;

Moon aligned cats: cats who are moon-aligned are very drawn to spiritual elements, and the dark. Many moon-aligned cats are drawn to medicine or leadership. They hold knowledge above all else, and are known for being cunning, and very resourceful. The greatest belief held by this alignment is to think before you act. Some strong moon-aligned cats are capable of subtle psychic abilities, such as lucid dream-walking, intuition, and clairvoyance to an extent. Some moon-aligned cats are known for being a bit self-serving, idealistic and ambitious.
Sun-Aligned cats: cats who are sun-aligned are very drawn to the physical world and the light. They believe everything in nature is connected, and many Sun-Aligned cats make great and loyal warriors. They hold clarity, truth and courage above all else. They are known for being practical, and very loyal. Some strong sun-aligned cats are capable of extraordinary physical feats, such as bursts of powerful strength or endurance, and good sense of direction. Some sun-aligned cats are simple, straightforward and very blunt.
Void-Aligned cats: cats who are void-aligned do not feel drawn to the light or dark, and rather are somewhere in-between. Not pulled in any extreme way, void-aligned cats are more neutral. They believe in balance, not just external, but internal. Void aligned cats hold freedom of thinking and individualism above all. They do not typically feel obligated to strictly follow rules or traditions. Many void-aligned believe following your heart is most important. It is said very strongly void-aligned cats can read souls or auras around them, and some abuse this ability to blend in or manipulate. Not a lot is known about void-aligned cats, as they are not very common, and most void-aligned cats feel a calling to travel and never return. It is a stigma that void-aligned cats are not loyal, and are not worthy to be part of a clan.
Cats can become corrupted by a toxic, negative mental state, and it can temporarily or rarely permanently damage their alignment abilities. Moon-aligned cats may begin to experience illusions or hallucinations, or be haunted by vivid nightmares. Sun-aligned cats may instead experience backfiring bursts of weakness, collapsing and sometimes eventually falling into a horrible, draining sickness until their mental state changes. Void-aligned cats may begin experiencing glitching with their abilities, or a complete shutdown of any abilities they may have. Note: This usually only affects cats who have been stuck in a negative headspace for a while, just being sad or angry does not affect it, but long-term emotions do. Usually the effects are affected by the type of emotion that is festering within the mind.
Basically I could see an exchange going like this, let's say some warriors have to repair a den.
Moon-Aligned Cat: These flowers would look so gorgeous, it will brighten the mood of all the queens!
Sun-Aligned Cat: Don't be ridiculous, that'll take much longer than we need it to! Get that out of here!
Void-Aligned Cat: Why don't we use the flower vines to help reinforce the den wall?

ohhhhh okay!! So it’s more of a mood based aspect, not exactly how i was thinking. that’s a really cool concept and i think we could make it work into the clan. how do you want to carry it out though? does every cat have one ability? do some not have the ability? if not, who is chosen to have that?

oh! probably shoulda been more clear with that. 'strong aligned' cats are cats who have resonated with their alignment, or have a very strong connection to it, and have been granted slight abilities. they're not common at all, maybe like 3 for each alignment at most at a time. i suppose we could play it out how a cat is somewhat born with the potential to have an ability, or resonate with their chosen alignment. i really don't want the abilities to be over-powered, as i assume you don't either! so we'd have to moderate it pretty closely to make sure people aren't going insane. i'd see a cat only having one of the possible abilities, such as a moon-aligned cat may have a very strong intuition, have prophetic visions, OR the ability to lucid dream-walk, never all three, or more than one. maybe in the sun-aligned case, some cats can learn to hone and control their bursts of strength, allowing them to deliver a powerful swipe or bite. but that would take a lot of meditation and practice.
building off your idea, what if there are types of captains or commanders of the aligned groups that are sort of spiritual leaders? like a cat who acts as an guide or alignment leader for those of their same alignment? or maybe thats too convoluted...
challenge mode: take a shot every time we say the word alignment xDD

oH ! okay! im getting it now. so we have the moon-aligned cats, three at a time. do we want one of those to be like the “shaman” of the moon aligned? or do we want the shaman to be an extra, say three moon aligned and one shaman for them. the same would work for the other alignments as well. the spiritual leader could also be there to sort of help them figure out everything and help them through if they happen to reach toxicity, which is rare.
if a kit is born with any of the alignments, how soon do “symptoms” (not really symptoms but i couldn’t think of the word) begin to show? say a cat is born with sun aligned. do they learn when they’re three moons old, when they’re old enough to being playing and learning? or does it just appear when they become apprentices?

aaaaa i suck at explaining. im so sorry. that's not exactly what i meant, either... i mean out of the existing population of aligned cats, only a few would be able to have abilities. so let's say the clan is split into moon-aligned, sun aligned and a smaller population, maybe not any, void aligned. maybe for every 10 cats, one is strongly aligned and has the potential to have an ability. so the average would be like 2-3 ability cats per alignment group. does this make any more sense? im bad at this ;o;
and like i said, they aren't born into an alignment either, it's more like they choose one as an apprentice, but are born with the potential to be strongly-aligned and gain abilities after choosing and resonating with that alignment.
maybe this is just too complicated of an idea nwn'

no it’s a great idea, I just suck at comprehending. i apologize, profusely.
i think im starting to get it. cat is born with the potential to become one of the aligned, say there are thirty cats in the clan, only three, roughly, would have any potential for a stronger ability. are we still going to have the overal “commanders/spiritual leaders” that a permanent?
once again, i am REALLY sorry i can’t comprehend this,, idk what is HAPPENING

we're getting there! it's not your fault, i think i'm to blame as well xD
Alignments are more of a choice, so when a cat is born they're basically a blank slate. As they grow, they see how the alignments work and what they believe, and are pressured to choose one when they become apprentices. That alignment is usually what they stick with for the rest of their life, that set of beliefs and way of thinking. Normal aligned cats are just that, normal. No powers, just beliefs.
Strongly Aligned Cats are cats of an alignment that have an ability. It's very rare for a cat to be born with the potential of having an ability (maybe we could have it where they can only come from strong alignment lineage), but it does happen.
I think that's it? And I think having a shaman or a spiritual leader of an alignment could make sense, as they could be a guide for others of their same alignment. Although we'd still need to figure out the hierarchy of ranks with that.
