mintedstar/fur - dang, the old forums were... different, huh? (I remember back in the day when I would look through the comics in the comics-and-manga section and seriously think about joining - that was 4 years ago, I think?)

Oh yes, it was. There was a week long 'no cat killing' rule, and Iiiiiiiii was the one who had there stuff deleted for it first. It was wild.

What is a ‘no cat killing rule’?

It was a mixup. There was a rule about no kit killing. So you couldn't kill a kit, particularly within a GN. But a mod took my stuff down and emailed me that it was for 'cat killing'. Well, I searched the FAQ section to see if I'd somehow missed a rule or not, but nothing turned up. So I posted a topic asking about what it entailed - assuming that maybe I'd just missed some ghost rule (they had those too. HarperCollins officially ran the site, so the mods couldn't change the rules. So 'ghost rules' turned up where you'd get banned for something (ex. LGBTQ matters) but it wasn't actually in the official rules). Well, a bunch of users commented and it all got very confusing. Because, you see, I hadn't killed a kit in my story. You've read PtS. No kits died. Same was true in the original version. The only thing that had happened at that point was Will had faked her own death and the screen cut before you saw anything. So I was confused and so was everyone else. But apparently it actually became a thing and for a week other things were taken down for killing cats. Everyone was terrified. It's Warriors. It took the mods emailing the head moderator to get clarification that they shouldn't be deleting all this stuff. It was crazy.
Aaaaaaaaaand the rule got revoked, I was scared my comic would get deleted again, so I put a notice up at the top of the page that basically said 'No cats were killed in the making of this comic' ... And I was banned for yelling at the mods. Not a warning, not a friendly note to maybe rephrase. Apparently banning me was better. Yes. I'm still salty.

So to sum up, there was a rule against killing cats in stories in the OG forums?

Yep! But only for about 7 days before the moderators all compared notes and realized the rule was stupid since this WAS a forum about cats that regularly face death.

Indeed they are!
So for more questions, what do you most enjoy doing in art? Anything you particularly like to draw?

I love designing, mostly - I love playing around with colors. All of the designs of GoldenClan are mine except one (which I adopted), and I can tell you while that thing took three days, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Specifically, I like drawing Valleyfrost and Cloverwillow - two appropriately complicated cats with designs I'm very satisfied with. Other than that... I suppose I enjoy drawing rocks XD

You enjoy rocks? XD I think I struggle with rocks the most! You got any tips?

Well, my advice would be use many layers! I usually have rocks drawn in one color and add on top of that with watercolor brush mode - darker if it’s in shadows and lighter if it’s more exposed to light. While some rocks (say riverbed pebbles) are smooth and have relatively less cracks and/or grooves because of water, cliffs and the like (such as GoldenClan camp) have more grooves and ridges. It’s a good idea to mark out those when sketching before coloring them in.

I always tend to make them look too smooth ... But thanks! I think I need to think about light and shadow more when drawing them. Maybe I should start working on how light reacts to rock more.

That’s a good idea - and seeing where the light comes from is good as well! I tend to put an arrow on the top of panels where I think the light is coming from. Slight ‘line shadows’ are a good indicator too if you’re going to do some dramatic lighting.

Yeah. I've been meaning to practice more with lighting and how it works with most things. But rocks have been the biggest thing. I've been using a poise maker for humans that have a light setting which has been helping with that. Sometimes light reacts a bit strange to items though, because they can include pores and faults that human shapes don't tend to.

Like, dips and furrows within things. XD Porous rocks or leaves and the like.
Fiiiinally I started working on the text of my comic, so maybe I can update Poisoning the Sea now. @.@

Of course not. Triumvirate is essentially Honeypaw arguing with everyone in the clan compiled.

Prologue - Honeypaw argues with his dad and his mentor Chapter 1: Honeystep argues with his sister Chapter?: Honeystep argues with his brother On a side note, I’m considering making Triumvirate its own art dump, what do you think?
