Also if you consider all things, you maaayyy find that he resembles a cat who has already appeared once.

That's okay! If you'd like, would you mind if I asked questions about/discussed the comic? No spoiler requests. Just some friendly chit-chat.

Which of 'these idiots' is hardest to draw so far? :3 Easiest? Easiest is Stormcrest, hands down. Smooth lines and a simple, two-color design - I just draw lines and fill them in. Hardest... well, I have two; both are torties. First is Jayflower. Her patches are a pain in the rear to get right. And the other is... someone on page 3. And this isn’t one that you asked but since you asked about designs, I recalled a question from a ‘comic meme’ I found a couple of years back: which character is the most fun to draw? That’s Valleyfrost and Thicketfur. I like designs with three~four colors and some fun twists and turns of stripes.

Nice!
What's your thoughts about drawing things day vs night? I always liked drawing things at nice in my comics, but always find it a lot more ... tricky.

I like sunrise or sunset, really - lots of dramatic lighting, and while I like night (dark shading tones are my jam), the orange and reddish tones of early morning or late afternoon kind of keep me grounded for some reason XD

Oh cool! I've never heard that one before!
I got to ask this one because I was talking about it yesterday, but do you associate colors to your characters?
(Example being the character in my avatar has a green color scheme and I draw green on him a lot.)

(Example being the character in my avatar has a green color scheme and I draw green on him a lot.) Hmm, that’s one I’VE never heard of before XD I don’t have anything really in mind most of the time, but red and gold are colors I associate with the villain, and purple and yellow I associate with characters who have or have had high ranks, like Fernstar, Hollyshade, and Owlclaw. The one exception here is Sunmask whose color scheme is yellow for... obvious reasons.

Very obvious reasons, ha ha.
Yeah, I'm not sure why I do that. I just like associating my characters with colors.
Ha ha. For all those who are into that sort of thing ... are your cats genetically correct? Mine never are. I don't put that much effort in.

mintedstar/fur - I can confirm that I rolled Sunmask, Honeystep, and Jayflower in a cat coat calculator just to be sure - I think they’re safe on the genetics side. On the other hand, I doubt any of Valleyfrost’s family will ever be genetically accurate. On another note, Mint, how do you plan stories? Currently I have bullet pointed plot points on a google doc (besides a load of sketches on school notebooks), but how did you plan Poisoning the Sea and your other works?

Oh! They have those? That's cool! Yeah. Genetics are fun, but tricky.
Ah. Ha ha. Plans. Those things. In the case of Poisoning the Sea, I wrote most of it out as a fan fiction. This was because at the time it was the only way it would work. The mods were weird on the old forums. The comic was deleted and the fan fiction was deleted thanks to a glitch. The current comic incarnation has been plotted in my head for a long time. I also had a bullet point list for it. I tend to plot things out in my head, heh heh? I sometimes bullet point list the major events, but as I'm writing I sometimes end up thinking of the story going in a different direction and I just ... let it. For my longer, personal work, I've had a fully detailed list of how it goes in my head for over 5 years. It's scary that I know the exact details I want in it. For my personal works, I free write the first draft, then in later drafts I work out pesky things like plot holes. For fics, I tend to just do those for fun with a loose bullet point list. Sometimes, if I want to be really fancy, I'll have a timeline.
