- - - - - Holly AlandriaHolly grinned at his return compliment. He was an easy person to with an easy personality fall in love with, in a platonically sense. He was very charismatic, she had to give him that. Usually, she couldn’t stand people at all, but he was different, he was, in some ways, like her. Shared her humor, and he gave her something to tether her to reality. She needed a friend, for a very long time, and it seems she had found one.
She shrugged, the sour emotions of the past had mostly left her, and her tears had drained long ago. “It’s not so bad, anymore.” She clarified, smiling, “Never feel bad for asking questions.” She added, green eyes bright and alight with humor.
She noticed, very slightly, that maybe she shouldn’t have asked such a personal question, but she smiled regardless, “They sound lovely,” she returned, his comment made her giggle slightly. “You should try very hard to return home, the chances might be low, but you can do it, I’m sure of it.”
She internally added to a list of things to do in the arena. She had to help him in some way, ally or another, she wanted to make sure that someone who could change the world would have the chance, and with his charisma, and with his goals, he could. It wasn’t like she was going to return anyways. If she won the games, her words she planned to say would have her tortured or killed very quickly, but torture she could bear. She knew a life of heartache and pain from hard work, or bruises from trying her best, she doubted that it could be worse than the fear of being forgotten.
His next question caused a ghost of a smile, she wanted to be honest, but not spur concern. So she joked, or acted like she was, “Oh I have absolutely no chance,” she laughed dryly, before giving off a gentle look, “But I’m a little spitfire, I don’t plan on going down that easy.”
She turned the question on him instead, “And you, I bet you could charm your way out of any fight!” She teased.

Ari smiled with a bread roll still in his mouth in response to her statement. This much was true, and because of it Ari would probably eat like a pig throughout this next week. He listened quietly as she spoke, wanting to gain information about her through... anything. And yet he couldn't. Amadrya remained this mystery girl who ended up pitying Aspen and therefore volunteering. But why? Why sacrifice yourself for this girl when you were never obliged to do so? People would never blame any individual person for not volunteering. The more he kept thinking about it, however, the more he realized that Amadrya's type of mentality was what the District's needed. They needed to back each other up and protect one another... Unite against a common enemy. Ari looked around, almost paranoid that Capitol technology could pick up even the slightest of rebellious thoughts. Finally, Ari caved after she stopped talking. He couldn't understand and evaluate this person if he didn't interact with them. "Why did you do it?" He blurted out, clearly referencing Amadrya giving herself the death sentence earlier.

- - - - - Robin ÉttienneRobin was standing beside her mother, looking at her older sister with worry. Her family always let Zinnia take tesserae, but they never let Robin. Zinnia was now 18 years old, but with the tesserae, Robin feared her name would be drawn. Even if it was drawn, her family strictly forbid Robin from volunteering. Robin was scared to argue, so she nodded to the agreement.
Her eyes fell to the wall, where a picture of the family was placed, and she looked at her dress, a simple yellow plaid one, and black leggings under, with a talisman necklace hanging down. Her hair was in a braided bun. Her sister was dressed in a blouse and pants, and was leading Robin to the square.
They stopped at the square, both getting their blood taken. Robin was led out, away from her sibling towards those of her age. Her eyes followed the women to the stage, skeptical but calm. She was nervous still, but her mother assured her that Zinnia would most likely be fine.
The women men approached the girls bowl after the introduction, and Robin bit her lip in anxiety. Her heart fast in fear of hearing her sister’s name as the women scooped out a slip of paper. Opening to, and raising her head towards the microphone.
“Robin Éttienne!”
Robin blinked, and blinked again. People stared at her, breaking apart from one another. She heard the cry of her sister, but shook her head in disbelief. She walked towards the stage, people making way for her, and stood tall, head held high in subconscious manner.
She watched the women go towards the boys bowl next, but stared at the crowd, at her crying sister. She...
Why didn’t Zinnia volunteer for her, but seem so upset? Robin wasn’t complaining, The was rather preferable, she may be young, but she wasn’t as young as others were, and she wasn’t an idiot. She had talent with most long range weapons, and she was sure that would help her in the games. ————— She sat in the room waiting for her visitors, her gaze flying up to meet her sister and parents, all were crying fiercely.
Zinnia charged up to her, scooping her in a hug. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” She whispered into her hair, “I couldn’t go in your place, I’m sorry.”
Robin backed up, doe-eyed, staring at her sister. “Why? Why couldn’t you take my place?”
It was silent for a long time, before Zinnia nodded to her parents. Obviously, whatever it was, her parents knew already.
“I’m going to have a child, Robin,” Zinnia explained, wiping at her tears. “We didn’t know until after we filed for tesserae, but Zephyr and I will be parents. I couldn’t risk my baby’s life in the arena...” Zinnia broke into tears again, “But I just can’t...”
Robin smiled regardless, laughing softly, “I’m very excited for you!” She chirped, crying some as well, pulling her sister into a hug. “I can’t blame you either, you turn 19 very soon, and it wouldn’t be just your life on the line. I’m not mad.” She murmured.
“You better come back alive,” Zinnia whispered.
“...If I don’t?” Robin asked.
“Just please try. Try to make it back to me.”
“I’ll try.”

Maybe she could go in D9? She looks adorable though, as a side note)

Amadrya Darrow The fire-eyed maid of smoky war
Amadrya had sort of known that she would be asked that question, but still when she was asked she looked down for a moment. When her gaze went back to Ari, she shrugged her shoulders.
“Well, I know the kid’s family, and I could see how devastated her brother was and how powerless he was to do anything. But I knew I could do something he couldn’t. And I didn’t think it was fair to let a little girl go to her certain death, I couldn’t bear the way everyone was pretending they didn’t know she had no chance. I know how it feels to lose family and I didn’t want her family to go through that. I don’t know, I guess it was a lot of things. I just knew I couldn’t let her go, that I had a better chance and that if one of us was going to die it’d be better if it was me anyway.”
She would be asked this again at interview, she knew. She had to be prepared for that.

Ari nodded in silent respect of her decision. Would I ever do something like that? He wondered, thinking of the possible people that he would do it for. None came to mind. At her last words, Ari scowled slightly. If Amadrya looked like anything to him, it was a victor. "I wouldn't be thinking about death just yet if I were you," He said, silently trying to take note of what her chances would be like in the Games. She was strong - that was a definite plus - and she knew how to wield an axe. Moreover the simple fact that she volunteered would spark an interest in the Capitol. She wouldn't be forgotten very easily - it was more than likely that possible sponsors could be evaluating her and others at this moment. Ari took the silence between them to watch the landscape morph around them. Right now the region they were in began to look... dead. The land itself was sullen and void of life. Not many seconds passed before the windows of the train dimmed and became reflective - rendering him to just be staring back at himself. "Weird," he said, looking back at Amadrya. Guess the Capitol doesn't want our wandering eyes in this region...
[ okay so I totally took some creative liberty there but I supposed that there would he some areas along their journey that the Capitol didnt want them to see. Also, it seemed pretty cool xD]

Amadrya Darrow The fire-eyed maid of smoky war
She shrugged again when he said she didn’t need to be thinking about death just yet.
“I don’t know,” she responded “it’s kind of hard not to. Haven’t you thought about it? Even the Careers die, Ari. There’s only one victor every year, it’s sometimes easier to prepare yourself for the possibility that it might not be you. As long as you don’t give up, which I don’t intend on doing.”
She watched the window dim and become reflective, blocking the dead landscape behind it. Her eyebrows furrowed.
“Definitely weird,” Amadrya responded “not that I find it surprising that the Capitol has stuff to hide even out here. They have so many skeletons in their closet it’s ridiculous.”
She was curious, but she knew better than to delve too much into Capitol business. She was all for speaking out against the Capitol and stuff, but you had to pick your battles when it came to investigating stuff, and whatever was behind that window probably wasn’t it.
(No I love it, it’s a cool idea )

Sempy she breaks my heart and I want to protect her. Now I gotta do my own short reaping stories to figure out everyone's personality more) Yeah I’m pretty sure I plan on her dying in the bloodbath, so I’m sorry in advance for that one I look forward to reading them! oh I also did two potential endings for future Catullus, a sad one and a happy one. The sad one was depressing to write ngl)

With their attention now fully inside the cabin, Ari took the time to get up and scour which food items he desired. There were glass plates(which he handled with extreme care) and tables upon tables of luxury meals and deserts. He began to think about what she had just said. About death. He was still unsure about his own fate. Whether it was sealed or whether there was still hope left. All of it confused him. He wanted to live, but he didn't want Amadrya to die. These two things, however, contradicted each other. What would be the best mindset going into the Games - accepting of your death but open to the possibility of winning? Determined to win no matter the odds?
Nevertheless, all he needed to think about in that moment was the delicious food that was laid out before him. He ended up grabbed some cheerios and a glass of chocolate milk. After some deliberation, he awkwardly ripped off the legs of a roasted chicken and topped them off with a sauce that he had no idea tasted like(or even was, for that matter) but smelled good. Curiously, he dipped his finger into it and licked it off.
"Mmm," he said, smiling. "You were right about the food thing." He sat back down at the table and began to dig in. "Anything to keep us from killing ourselves, I guess," he finished, dropping the mood yet again by a few levels.
Every decade there were people who managed to do it. The Capitol had always had strict preventative methods in place, yet they always seemed to fall back upon drawing another tribute.

Amadrya Darrow The fire-eyed maid of smoky war
Amadrya knew that at least one of them wouldn’t be going home, if not both of them. She didn’t like that thought, but that was just how it worked. And she said she’d help him in the Arena if he needed it, though, and she was glad she’d done that to be honest. She hoped they wouldn’t end up in the final two, though she doubted that it would happen because she couldn’t remember a Games where the final two had been district partners. That weren’t Careers, anyway. Maybe one, the 74th? It didn’t matter at this point anyway.
When he got up to get some good, Amadrya did the same thing herself, selecting some kind of stew with another roll to eat it with. Carbs were the best way to prepare for the Arena, though any kind of food couldn’t hurt. She took a seat back at the table moments before Ari joined her.
She tasted some of the stew - it was lamb, and she was sure she could taste some mint in there. Either way it was delicious.
In response to his words, she nodded.
“Yeah, that’s true. Can’t have anyone dying until we get to the Arena,” she said bitterly, but her tone lifted a little as she continued “It doesn’t matter, though, Ari. Because we’re going to show the Capitol exactly what District Seven is capable of when we get into that Arena.”

Halina's Reaping
Halina stood among the crowd with her fellow classmates her age within District 4. Each one of them was dressed nicely, pretty dolls ready to be picked from the shelves and broken by their new owners. Excitement ran through the young girl's bones as she watched the Capital Representative take the stage. Most of the kids in her crowd had a sort of hunger in their eyes while others leaned away nervously. But all of them stood taller when the man took a starting breath before giving the whole spiel of Panem's long history.
In a way, she could understand the way people enjoyed the games. The exhilarating battles, the devastation when a tribute loses, the thrilling challenges to push the tributes to the edge.
Every single one of the kids around her had been trained to win the games. Whether they got picked or not. They were all trained killers at this point. Halina just wanted to be the one to prove that she had been trained well. Especially to her Victor father.
Once the mandatory video ended, Halina found herself holding her breath. She was hoping her name would be called. She found herself crossing her fingers and focussing so intensely on the stage in front of her.
But someone else's name was called. The girl next to her. Halina knew her. She was a good fighter and a quick study. There was no doubt that she'd do well in the games. Therefore, there was no way she could go.
Before the girl could go and walk to the front of the stage, Halina took the girl's hand in a tight grip preventing her from going anywhere and raised her own hand.
"I, Halina Flynn, volunteer as tribute," She announced loudly. Her voice was unwavering, confident even. As she marched up to the stage she smiled proudly at her classmates, the people of her district, and even her parents. Her mother was crying silently while her father was shocked, a pained expression slowly creeping onto her features. She didn't understand why they were upset. It didn't make sense to her why they weren't as proud and excited as she was.
