- - - - - Alessandro Rune “Oh trust me, I know exactly how to win these games, Everest,” Alessandro coolly responded. Though in reality, he was flustered, even if his face didn’t show it. He didn’t want to seem like he was weak because he got caught flirting with a girl. But he kept his act together, “I flirt with people, Everest, and may I say you are looking very attractive today.”
That wasn’t what he should have said, but it was something. Years of training, and his mother told him to woo everyone and anyone, even if he couldn’t stand them. He only liked the look of girls, but what was a little ego-push if nothing? Words were words, regardless of what they were supposed to mean.
He snorted, watching him walk away to District 7’s Female, Amadrya, before turning to Macaria. “As soon as we get some people out of the way, we need to kill them both,” he whispered out, glaring behind him for a moment, “Bringing in outsiders into the Career Pack is showing weakness, it’s like he wants people to think we take in strays.” He snorted.
He really had no idea, or maybe he was too egotistical to acknowledge that Amadrya could kick his butt fair and square.

Amadrya Darrow The fire-eyed maid of smoky war
“Ah, well thanks,” Amadrya nodded to the compliment “you too, of course. I think you’ll be okay, Holly, you won’t let them change you.”
And Amadrya didn’t want the Games to change her either. She hoped they wouldn’t. She had always made it very clear that she knew the realities of the Games, that there was only one winner and that she’d need to kill. She had never lied to herself in that regard, which made it easier not to be changed by the Games.
“I know,” Amadrya responded to her words about the careers “I’ve been working in my district practically from the moment I could climb a tree and hold an axe. It would have been so great to have been able to train like them instead of having to do all that”
She imagined Holly would’ve been through something similar. All of the districts had similarly harsh attitudes to work and so she probably would have been working since she was young too.
“Good,” Amadrya smiled “make them pay for all of this. Make them pay for every second we’re in there.”
She knew she would. When she got her chance. Of course, it was a risk because if she ended up winning she’d be in danger, but for right now it was fine. She would just have to be very careful about what she did.
Amadrya did laugh a little at Holly’s description of Burton, glancing at the young man, who was getting last touches from his stylist.
”Well, he sounds like an ideal friend,” she replied “I really hope you can get him out of that Arena, if that’s what you’re choosing to do. I think that’s very brave of you.”
And as Holly said the words about watching her back, Everest appeared at Amadrya’s side. He offered a close-lipped smile as he addressed Amadrya.
“Yes, I have, and what you said was very helpful,” Amadrya nodded
Amadrya appreciated Everest’s bluntness, getting straight to the point. She liked that, it suited her very well. She didn’t like smalltalk or anything. Luckily there was very little room for smalltalk in the Games. Nobody wanted to waste breath on pointless words anymore.

Macaria Slayte The innocent flower and the serpent under it ”You’re such a buzzkill, Everest,” Macaria replied, though her voice was lighthearted “we know we can’t both get out, let us have a little fun. We know what we’re doing, we’ve been trained as well as you.”
She watched him leave to go and talk to Holly, and then Alessandro was talking to her. At his words, she shook her head lightly.
“Patience,” Macaria murmured “I’ve seen her with an axe, she’s an excellent early game tribute. We need to take her down while the pack is still large, of course, because she is very handy with that axe and Everest has been training her. But we should keep her as long as we can until she starts to look like a threat. Then we take her and Everest down. We need him, too, for now. It’ll look bad for sponsors if I kill my district partner so we should hold out. Plus killing him could cause the pack to collapse and we need it to keep going until all the threats are gone. Amadrya goes once she outlives her purpose, Everest when he outlives his.”

- - - - - Holly Alandria Holly smiled, deciding to listen. She heard the clicking of feet, years of stealth helped her to hear those around her, to know the telltale sounds. She smirked as Everest came, but it fell quickly. He seemed very blunt, and any quirks she may have had vanished in a flash. He was there to address Amadrya, not Holly.
She still couldn’t help her quip, “Guess they really do want you on the team,” she said, a bit surprised. She wasn’t apologizing either, but she smiled. “That’s a pretty good fit, Amadrya,” she addressed.
She then looked at Everest, nothing was set in stone yet, but she already knew what Amadrya was deciding, they were discussing it. “It’s nice to meet you, Everest,” she remarked, before glancing between the two other tributes, “Don’t let her die in there, Alright? I know how some careers are, I’d like to believe not all of you are like that though. She’s a good person whose trusting you, and I have no qualms about avenging her if I need to.” They sounded brave, maybe dumb because he gave no one a reason to even think he would abandon Amadrya or betray her. But Holly never knew. She knew she wasn’t anything to be scared of either, a small girl like her? Sure, the tributes of 14 years of age were tinier than her, and she wasn’t extremely short, but she stood only at about 5 feet. A tribute like him could easily kill her.
Probably would, at some point.
“Perhaps I should leave you two to it?” She suggested, before taking a step back, “It was nice meeting you Amadrya,” she nodded to the girl, “And you, Everest, good luck.”

It was the day of the victory tour, and Catullus was all camera ready. Well, he wasn’t wearing makeup now because the President wanted people to see that he was looking ill and for them to see the scar on his cheek. Just to remind them of who Catullus was. It was like Louden was trying to destroy the walls Catullus had built around himself, the new Capitol identity he had created.
But other than that, he was more than ready for the cameras. They still had a while before it was time to start filming, though, which was good because Catullus knew Mallory was somewhere nearby and he needed to talk to her.
He caught her a little distance away, with final touches being added by a stylist before it was time to begin.
“She looks great,” Catullus said with a smile before asking “do you mind if I borrow her for a moment?”
The stylist nodded, and Catullus looked to Mallory.
“Come, will you walk with me for a minute, darling?”
And so she did. Catullus walked with her down the corridors until they were far enough away that the two of them wouldn’t be in earshot of anyone else in the building. Not that this kept them necessarily out of Louden’s earshot.
Still, Catullus spoke, dropping the Capitol accent,
“Miss Libelle, I trust you know we may still not be entirely alone, but this is the best I can do. I’m sure you can see what has been happening to me, you seem to be the only one who sees and knows what’s going on. But they’re giving me permission to go back to District 8 after this victory tour and try to live a normal life, so long as I keep my mouth shut about the Capitol. I know you know why I’ve been being punished, and I need someone to carry on what I’ve been doing, because I can’t continue, especially not from District 8. I need someone here in the spotlight in the Capitol to try and stir rebellion in the districts, I need someone to take the Capitol down. Can you do that for me?”
He paused for a moment, looking over the girl in front of him. She had a fire in her, like Holly had. This was the girl he needed, this was the girl who had half a chance at starting this rebellion. That’s why it should always have been Holly who won his Games, because she was the one who would’ve been successful with the rebellion.
“I know you’re young and I’m asking a lot of you. But this is far bigger than you or I, or even the people we have both lost. I will help you whenever I can, and I will be in District 8 if you need to somehow contact me. My old stylist, and your head Gamemaker, Livia, will remain in the Capitol. She is secretly sympathetic to the rebel cause. Tell her Burton sent you, and she’ll help you with anything you need.”
“So, what do you say, Mallory? Will you try and succeed where I couldn’t?”

Though most of the stylists had simply dressed their tributes and then sent them on their way, Livia had accompanied Burton out to his chariot, her hands clasped nearly in front of her as they spoke. “Stand tall. Think of projecting confidence, poise. Remember that they are here to see you.” she reminded him, stopping so she could look him in the eye as she advised him. Glancing at the two mates that would be pulling Burton’s chariot, Alicia smiledZ originally, the pair of horses had been a stark white. But, wanting to show off her new flare as a stylist, Livia had spend all night painting them blue, and then adding golden patterns that matched those on Holly and Burton’s attire. The horses looked magnificent, and they each had y’all blue and gold plume crowns to top off the masterpiece. “I hope it’s not too much,” she said with a sly smile to her good friend. She, of course, didn’t think it would be. But she knew Burton was more of a minimalist when it came to fashion, so she could see him not appreciating the art she had created as much.

Burton Acton And either victory, or else a grave
Burton listened as Livia spoke to him, urging him to project confidence and poise. To remember that they were here to see him. That was true. This was a very important event, sponsors would be watching this. And while he hated that all these people had come to gawp at the tributes, he knew the importance of winning the hearts of the Capitol. He knew getting them on side - and teaching Holly how to, as he had promised - could be the difference between life and death in the Arena.
“Confidence I can do,” Burton chuckled “but I can’t guarantee poise.”
It was a joke, but beneath it were some real worries. He was quite charming, or so Holly had told him, but he still wasn’t sure it would be enough. Still, Livia’s words were useful. They were probably the key to getting the Capitol on side, they were probably what was needed for him to utilise his natural charm to gain the support of the Capitol. He trusted her, because she was from District 8 as well and had survived in the Capitol, after all. She knew what she was going.
He looked at the horses when Livia asked about them, taking in the blue and gold mares pulling the chariot.
“For the Capitol?” Burton asked “no, no way. Nothing is too much here.”
He looked around at that point, at the people and the place surrounding him. Tributes in costumes standing by chariots. He could hear the cheering of the crowd already, desperate to see the tributes.
“How do you do it?” Burton asked “manage here, I mean. I could never live here. But then I suppose I have my reasons for feeling a little bitter right now, huh?”
He genuinely wanted to know how anyone not born in the Capitol, anyone from a place like District 8, could survive here. Could live here and be okay with it. Burton hated the Capitol, he generally couldn’t see the appeal. But to lighten the mood to the question, a little joke at the end. And also because if he laughed about the Games it was so much better than being scared of it. It was the only way for Burton to cope with the situation, really.
(Thought I’d have him ask the same question he asked when he visited Livia before XD)

- - - - - Alessandro Rune He nodded along with Macaria's words, but his hesitancy had remained. "I just feel like she'll stab is in the back the first moment she gets. But I agree, let her have her fun, then like everyone else she dies."
His eyes narrowed off in the direction of Everest, Macaria, and Holly, "and the other girl? How is she?" He questioned curiously. He hadn't seen much of the District 8 girl, but he noted that the boy, Burton was standing by Livia, their stylist. He was impressed by the horses, but quickly directed his attention back to Macaria.
He understood her reasoning, the pack had to remain together, but he didn't trust Everest or Amadrya.
