Holly kept her gaze level, even as her annoyance built. She let off a breath, turning to walk away, but Macaria was still speaking, and she stopped.
She started laughing, out loud, in the middle of the training center. Now that was a good joke, โSorry, Macaria, I have standards.โ And perhaps that was also insulting to her District partner. It was a joke regardless, โWeโre a couple of friends and morons.โ She added with a few more chuckle.
Her response wasnt cocerning at all. But her eyes glued on the ground for a moment, her confidence waning slightly. She had to force herself to look back, โI hope you and your toys have fun, Macaria.โ She simply said, arching a brow at the girl.
Holly knew the fake laughter, no one laughed at dumb puns said in sarcasm, they just rolled their eyes. โCut the act,โ She muttered, โItโs really getting on my nerves, we both know that joke was dumb.โ She huffed out, arms crossed, her shoulder-length black hair framing her face, her foot tapping lightly on the floor. โEither that, or your sense of humor is drastically torn to shreds.โ
Her eyes narrowed, keeping an eye out for them. She remained silent though, listening to the girl.
Her words held truth, but Holly smirked slightly, โNot everyone here is keen on killing, some of us want to go home and not be remembered as killers. Some us will kill out of self defense. But I can bet that only 6 tributes will be hunting for other ones. Who do you think that will be, Macaria?โ Holly asked, keeping her voice soft, not enough to draw attention, but directed enough to keep the meaning.
To watch her back, She knew what that meant, โWhy donโt you just leave us alone? Huh?โ She questioned, her voice not rising, but her eyes questioning. โWatch your own back for once, you should know even through that fogged up mind of yours that careers stab each otherโs backs. You might think your flirty act is going to cut it, but someone is going to turn their back on you just like you will to them, but even if you win, youโll just be another doll for the Capital. Is that what you want?โ She questioned, she knew she would get no where. She didnโt have a clue why she was trying. She knew Macaria wouldnโt listen, she grew up idolizing the games most likely.
