Most highschool students are nervous on the first day of school, but Leigh Adams thought she was probably more nervous than most. This was literally her first day of school since the second grade, given she'd been homeschooled since then, and she didn't do particularly well in social settings. Her head swirled with dozens of mixed emotions, wondering why she let her mother force her to go to this school. She didn't need friends, like her mother wanted her to have. Besides, she had a friend. Mrs. Baker, the elderly woman next door, was very nice, and Leigh loved sitting on the porch drinking hot cocoa with her. But the loneliness she tried so hard to hide from herself told her that a part of her wanted to be at school too. She was just incredibly nervous. She kept thinking about how all the other girls will be wearing make up and how she'll be plain compared to them, her pony tail is crooked, the jeans and t-shirt she picked out for the day looked weird, her shoes weren't new... Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, the young girl pulled her dark hair to tighten the ponytail and walked up the steps to the large front doors. She already knew the response she would get from most of the kids. They would hate her. Or they would hate her power, at least. She even hated her own power. Was it even a power, or was it an anti-power? It was the exact reason she begged her mom not to make her go to school when she was a kid, because of the conflicts it caused with people around her. "This is scary," She mumbled to herself as she aimlessly searched for the locker she'd been assigned. 305. She didn't even have to look at the paper schedule stuffed in her pocket to know the locker's number, she'd already memorized the whole thing over the past several days. She knew every class she was going to, the teachers names, and the room numbers, she just wasn't sure where the rooms were. She suddenly stopped mid-step as a thought occurred to her, brown eyes widening and a disappointed frown darkening her expression. "I left my calculator at home!" She pouted to herself, picturing it sitting on her dresser where she left it the night before.
(So Leigh's power is a little hard for me to explain, but basically she effects other people's powers and by making them weaker. Just her being close to them weakens their power, and she can't turn it on or off. The closer she is, the more it effects them. How much it is effected would depend on how strong their power is and sometimes they might not be able to use their powers if she is right next to them.)
So yeah, just jump in, this is pretty laid back. Don't make your characters overpowered or perfect, be respectful, etc. Thanks!)

(So is it a school for people with powers or does everyone have a power and it's just set in a high school?)

Its a school for powered kids. In this 'world' every human isnt powered, but they live together. Some people dont like the idea of living with them, but laws give them rights and stuff. Also, some schools are mixed but this particular one is just for powered kids. ))

Hershal La Flower slowly walked through the large front doors of his school. This full attention was on the thick book in his hands and every once in a while he would bump into another student. Hershal was always seen with a book or two in hand. Hershal and his twin brother Randall had been going to this school since they were very small so they knew just about everyone but today Hershal spotted someone new in his school. He had glanced up from his book for only seconds when he spotted this new girl. It also so happens his locker was pretty close to hers. Hershal placed his book in his backpack and debated to go over to introduce himself. He softly sighed and slicked back his shock of red hair before walking over to Leigh. "H-Hello." Hershal stuttered softly. Hershal didn't mean to to stutter but This girls aura caught him off guard, it almost seemed to drain him of his power. But he shook the feeling off. "I'm Hershal La Flower."

With a defeated sigh, Leigh swung open her locker and inspected it with curiosity. This was where she was going to have to keep all her stuff. It was a little dirty, so she would have to wipe it down, but it was okay. At least it wasn't too small. She spun her head when she heard a voice beside her, a little startled that some guy was talking to her. She even glanced over her shoulder to make sure that he wasn't talking to another student standing near her. oh my god. Her heart thumped as she held out her hand, offering the boy a smile. "Hi..." She answered him, hesitating as her brown eyes flitted over his body to avoid eye contact. "I'm Leigh. Um, Leigh Adams."

Hershal noticed how Leigh seemed kind of startled that he was speaking to her. In all honesty Hershal was kind of surprised he was talking to a stranger. He never did that usually. "It's nice to meet you Leigh, did you just move into town?" Hershal questioned. A thought suddenly came to Hershal he hoped Randal wouldn't spot him talking to Leigh. Randal was well a lot more social than Hershal he would most likely scare Leigh with his obnoxious questions and constant chattering about god knows what. Hershal glanced over his shoulder.

Jamie was very good at keeping to himself, not really that big a fan of knowing literally everyone like some people in this school. Being able to do this was easier with his illusion ability. He was quite adept where with a small group he could create quite a simple illusion such as someone not appearing to be in their chair during study time in class. When not invisible, Jamie stood just about an inch or two below average. Not all that fit-his illusion ability gave him the ability to be lazy with anything physical. He had short brown hair in the style you would expect from someone who cared just enough to get a hair cut but not enough to put gel in it every day. His green eyes were scanning the crowd to see if anyone had the potential to talk to him. If he felt like they did he would temporarily put up an illusion for that person that he disappeared till he was certain he was outside of their gaze. If it was really that important they would call him to the office or something. He paused for just a second when he saw a group of four talking to one person. He didn't quite recognize her so that was strike one for her actually seeing him. He could never guess if a new person is way too social for their own good. Like the pair that seemed too excited for school. He'll just throw Hershal into that mix to make sure the conversation didn't go to an invisible person. When the illusion was set, Jamie started to walk once again to his locker on the end of the hallway. He took a glance at the group as he walked by the moment he noticed he had to concentrate quite a bit more to keep the illusion up, even bumping into a couple of people. It wasn't a new feeling but he would normally only feel this if he was trying to go for something more complex, against more people or if he was generally just tired. It was a new feeling for the beginning of the day, only four people to think that he isn't there type of illusion. He hoped that the times his concentration slipped a bit that the illusion didn't falter.

"No, I just, um, transferred to this school. I was home schooled." Leigh answered Hershal, studying the two new kids curiously as they appeared. "Oh, h-hi." One of them was really tall, the other really short, and she found herself smiling - a bit amused. Leigh was only 5'2 herself, but this other girl was even shorter than her. Probably less than five feet. She noticed that the boy seemed a bit uncomfortable and she took a tiny step backwards, hoping to ease that tension. "And my name is Leigh." Feeling like another presence was nearby, she looked around, and for a moment she was sure she saw somebody walking nearby but it seemed as though they disappeared. Invisibility? But if they walk really close by me it will probably give out... She thought to herself, straightening out the hem of her shirt nervously.

Hershal looked over to Willow and Gael as they approached. "Hey guys." He said softly. He glanced back over to Leigh. "Oh that's cool, my parents tried to home school me and my brother but I they changed their mind after Randal threw a fit about it." Hershal chuckled softly to himself. They had both been only five when they were told they were going to be homeschooled and Randal threw a pretty big fit about it. Hershal didn't really care when he was that young but he was glad he wasn't homeschooled. suddenly Hershal caught a glimpse of Jamie, he didn't know Jamie very well but he had always been super interested in his power. It was very different than most. Hershal and Randal shared the same power and that was shapshifting. But the only thing they both could shapshiftt into was a cardinal.

Confusion flashed across Jamie's face when his eyes met with Hershal. Normally he would chalk that up to coincidence but mixed with his concentration issues he couldn't just say that. Even with lapses with concentration it wouldn't last long enough for people to notice. Deciding to at least be a bit friendly he gave a small smile and a wave to the group and forgoing the illusion since he was pretty much useless at this point. He wasn't planning on stopping to chat so he kept his pace going for the time being. That being said, he probably should find out why he had that much issue with that simple of an illusion. He hoped he just didn't get enough sleep last night or something.

Leigh smiled at Hershal, nodding her head. "It kind of worked well for me, but here I am anyway..." She saw him looking at someone and followed his gaze, noticing Jamie again just in time to see him wave towards their group. But something about the boy's expression felt like he didn't want anything to do with them. "Hey..." she spoke without thinking then stopped, wondering what she was about to say. She quickly averted her gaze, feeling embarrassed and out of place. Her face felt so hot, she must have been blushing by now. gosh, i hope my face doesnt look like a tomato. She looked back at her locker, slowly closing it up to distract herself and give her something to do. She didn't have anything to put in it yet anyway, and the bag over her back was mostly empty until her teachers gave her some textbooks.

She had to be honest here, what she was doing was incredibly impulsive, but in the grand scheme of things this was her getting up to something mild and pretty lackluster compared to some of the other shenanigans she had gotten herself into over the years. This was honestly nothing, but it was still going to put a wicked grin on her face when people started to realize what she was doing and what she had done. Man, she was probably going to get into so much trouble, but it was going to be worth it. Oh, it was totally going to be worth it. Even if this was extremely low level chaos here she was ready to really make this first day of school a lot more interesting.
So far she was keeping it cool and keeping everything as normal as she could. Just like with any first day of school, or any typical start to the school day really, Blythe walked through the doors and made it into the halls without so much as a problem. Her backpack was hanging loosely off one shoulder so she would have easy access to it for whenever she needed to rummage around inside, and to be honest, what she had planned involved quite a bit of backpack shenanigans that she was ready to get started. Ever so slightly her backpack was open, but only an incredibly small amount. It was just enough that if, for example, she had a living creature inside the backpack then it would be able to adequately breathe but not be able to get out. But why on earth would she have a living creature inside her backpack of all things? This was a school and schools didn’t allow for living creatures unless they were all human. Which was such a shame, if only she did have something in her backpack, then that would make this day a whole lot better. Maybe, just maybe, if she wished hard enough then something would just magically appear in her backpack. Something alive. Something that would really get people’s attention. Something that most people would freak out over. Something slippery. Something scaly. Something like...something like a snake.
Glancing around the halls for a quick moment, Blythe scanned the area to see if anybody was nearby. When the cost seemed mostly clear, she slipped the backpack off her shoulder and unzipped it just wide enough to stick a careful hand inside. She didn’t stop until her hand hit something in particular at the bottom of the backpack. A smirk pulled at her lips as she curled her fingers around the slithering body of the garter snake she had stumbled upon on her way to school that morning. Instead of just walking away and letting the snake be like some normal person, Blythe had managed to capture the reptile and then stuff it into her bag. Then, of course, her next thought after having captured the animal was to bring it to school and let it go free out into the halls just to see what would happen. It wasn’t like she was trying to cause too much trouble with this, though. It was just a garter snake. If she really wanted to start something she would have found a different kind of snake. Like a copperhead or something. Now that would be a fun snake to unleash on the school population. Maybe next time she did this she’d find a copperhead. Or better yet, a diamondback rattlesnake. That would be incredibly fun to do. But next time. Next time she did this she was totally going to get a poisonous snake and set it free in the halls. But for now, she needed to focus on what she had in her hand right now.
Pulling the little snake out of her backpack, she set the item down on the ground as she looked the snake over for a second. ”Go do your thing, little chaos noodle,” she murmured to the reptile right before leaning down to give it a little kiss on the head and then crouching down. Without waiting another second Blythe set the snake down on the ground, gave it a little nudge for it to get going, and then got back to her full height, stepped back, and simply waited to see what would unfold now that she had casually just released a garter snake in the school.

Honestly Elfie didn’t actually want to be here - though he couldn’t think of anyone that did - school was boring. He’d much rather be literally anywhere else. Like on his way to sneak into a shack and steal some things, or taking a blood bath in some sort of quartz bathtub with a cult leader...both of those were extremely specific and sort of made him look like a bad guy, but he wasn’t. Sure maybe his last name was a bit misleading, but it wasn’t his fault that his last name was Grimm. That could’ve been anyone’s last name - no seriously, he had a lot of siblings - but none of that proved that he was “bad” and he stood by that.
He just didn’t care for all this school stuff. At the very least he’d prefer to be over at his father’s junkyard right now, hanging out with the dogs. But instead he had to go to school, so here he was, at school for yet another year of education that Elfie probably wouldn’t take with him once he left high school.
Glancing around, Elfie closed the door to his locker, a quiet hum coming from the back of his throat. He still had a few minutes until he was supposed to be in class, he could always get there early but the thought of that alone was laughable at best. No, he needed something else to do while he waited. Something to distract himself from classes or the fact that he couldn’t bring a dog in here.
That’s when he spotted it, the slithering of a reptile as it made its way through the hallway, a happy little snake on no particular mission of its own. Which, Elfie had never actually minded snakes. They weren’t dogs but they were good little noodles just trying to make it in this harsh, snake hating world. However unless someone here had the power to turn into a snake, Elfie doubted it was a student. Which meant it wasn’t supposed to be here, which meant someone had to let it in.
Taking a few steps closer to the snake, Elfie looked behind it, eyes trailing along the floor until he found it. A girl with black and blonde hair standing proudly in the distance like a father watching his son ride a bike for the first time. That had to be the person that let in the snake. No one else would stand there like the proud parent to a slithering noodle if they hadn’t been the one to let the snake in in the first place.
Now this was way better than class.
Smirking, Elfie showed off his sharp canines as he continued towards the girl, leaving the snake behind to continue its snakey business. ”Nice snake, does it have a name? I’m assuming it’s yours,” Elfie started, folding his arms as he smirked over at the girl. ”No one else here looks like the proud parent of an innocent, freaky little snake so I just assumed it belonged to you.”

Since when he first realized he had to put on a shirt until even now the teenaged boy was nothing more than a sad, distressed mess of fully clothed boy. Every little step he took was another moment of pure agony that sent shivers of discomfort right down his spine. Honestly, how many times had he already crumpled to the floor of the house and just sobbed because of how uncomfortable he felt? How many times had he just clung to his twin brother’s leg all shriveled up like some kind of dried out pepper and whined about how tight these clothes felt or how they made him feel like he was going to be constricted to death? He just wanted to get out of these clothes and be free. He didn’t like wearing clothes, and if he could get away with it, he just didn’t put them on, but here he had to. He couldn’t just...not do that at school. Which sucked. It sucked a lot. How could people comfortable wear clothes all the time? Egg didn’t understand it. He just couldn’t comprehend it. But...he couldn’t just go out and be some kind of heathen on the first day of school. He was going to struggle for however many hours he was going to be stuck in this school building, but he could do it. Maybe. Honestly, if it came down to it he might just run off to find the nearest lion to eat him or something. He had a dream like that one time. Or, rather, he had a dream where his oldest brother - the oldest brother that didn’t live with their mother, but rather that brother’s particular father - got caught up in some kind of mafia that had to do with dragons and on a mission to talk things out with the rival gang - which for some reason were a bunch of pirates - ended up getting eaten by a crazed lion that had just snapped for some reason. Yeah, talk about quite a dream. It had been...something.
Oh! There was also that one dream where one of his younger siblings had been left unsupervised by their mother, which honestly happened quite a bit if he was being honest, and was picked up by a magical gang leader. Then that magical gang leader snapped his neck and killed the little guy.
… Man, he had a lot of dreams involving different gangs and sibling death. It was almost like he was actually part of some kind of death gang. Which he wasn’t. He totally wasn’t. Honestly, Egg was too lazy for that kind of stuff. The most he did was write fanfiction between various people and make memes. Anything beyond that and he was just too lazy to get involved, so there was no way he’d squeeze himself into a gang. Now Elfie on the other hand… Egg’s half-brother twin - don’t ask, it’s a long story, though Egg would actually tell the story if somebody asked - Elfie would maybe be more likely to get involved with that stuff. Or, well, maybe more so a cult than an actual gang. Elfie seemed more like the cult type. Yeah, Elfie could totally get in a cult, charm the crazed cult leader, marry her, and then become some second cult leader.
… Had that been another dream of Egg’s? Probably. He apparently had a lot of weird dreams. A lot of weird dreams that had to do with cults and gangs and all sorts of stuff. Maybe he had been a mafia leader or cult leader in a past life. That would be pretty cool. He’d have a meme cult. It would be a great time.
Anyway.
Between all that thought and contemplation, Egg had actually managed to distract himself from the fact that his clothes were too tight and that he was currently suffocating in them. He would have mentioned that to Elfie right then and there if not for the fact that he, too, was now distracted by the slithering little noodle that was making its way down the hall like it was floating down some lazy river. Mood, little snake, mood.
”Elfie,” Egg started, not even at all phazed by the snake. ”How cool would it be if we could turn into snakes? They can slither around all day without it being weird, and they don’t have to wear clothes,” the blond added with something of a sorrowful sigh. If only he was a snake. Though, nothing was stopping him from just getting down on the ground and becoming a snake. Maybe he couldn’t get away with not wearing clothes, but he could totally get away with slithering along on the ground like a snake.
Without a second thought Egg got down on his knees and then just plopped right down onto the ground. With laughter shining in his blue eyes he glanced up to his brother. ”Now, imagine this, but if we lathered ourselves in jelly.” And with that being said Egg used his arms to shimmy his body on down the hall alongside Elfie as they went off to investigate where the snake came from.
It didn’t take him long to spot the source of the noodle chaos. He slithered on alongside Elfie until they came to a halt near a girl that seemed to be taller than the both of them. There was a look of pure mischief in her one golden eye that Egg knew all too well from his and Elfie’s own antics, and Egg had to admit he already liked this. He hadn’t met this particular girl yet, but he already felt like he had known her for years. Between him and Elfie, adding this snake releaser into their midst just seemed right.
From down on the ground he watched as the girl turned her attention to him and his brother, a sly look on her face. ”I think I’ll name him Anhrefnaunwdls, or just Chaos Noodle for short. If you’re feeling really lazy just call him CN, I’m sure he’d listen to that.” It was then that a faraway look came over her visage and she let out a sigh as she fell into a more comfortable position leaned up against the wall. ”Seems like yesterday he was just born into this world. Now he’s all grown and off making chaos. They grow up so fast.” She shook her head and let out another sigh before giving a faint laugh under her breath. ”Wanna watch some people freak out with me?”

Three boys pushed their way through the hall together, two side by side and the third trailing closely behind them. They looked indecipherably similar to one another--the same small, thin faces and pale skin dotted with freckles. Most of the school were no strangers to Rowan, Oliver and Aspen Brightmoore. While not super popular or major troublemakers, the boys were well known around school for just, well, being what they were. Triplets. People seemed to find it fascinating, especially since only two of them were identical. Rowan and Aspen looked pretty much the same, with their wild red curls and dark hazel eyes. Oliver looked similar, but not identical, as he sported light brown hair and dark brown eyes.
The triplets had lockers close together--the school board tried to make an active effort to separate them. Different lockers that weren't side by side, different teachers for the same classes, different lunch periods. Of course, it was impossible to separate them completely--usually at least two of them were together in some classes and at lunch. Never all three, despite their persistence.
They headed to their own lockers to get ready for the first day of school, only four lockers between Rowan and Aspen and with Oliver behind them on the other side of the hall.
Oliver, the brunette, dug in his bag to unpack supplies into his locker. He was noticeably smaller than his brothers, shorter by a good four inches while they were five foot nine, and much more skinny. Everyone in school knew he was sickly. This was his first time back at school, since he'd missed the last two months of the previous school year.
Not all of the triplets were troublemakers. Oliver was a gentle, sensitive soul. In other words, he was a giant scaredy-cat. And Aspen was very much the opposite, danger-loving and mischievous. He couldn't help himself, when he spotted something twining its way through the crowd of teenagers. His first instinct was to crouch down and investigate, smile transforming into a wicked grin when he realized what a great discovery he'd made. Slowly, he picked the snake up and crossed the hall to where Oliver was crouched, not paying attention. He slipped the snake into Oliver's bag and crept his way back over to his locker.
All Oliver wanted was a good first day, it wasn't too much to ask for. He wanted to go to class and learn, wanted to make new friends. It would be fine. Everything was fine, until he shouldered his backpack again and started down the hall, fidgeting. He didn't notice it at first--a scaly little noodle crawling its way up his back. It touched the back of his neck, flicking its tongue against his skin. He turned his head, confused, and his skin became as white as snow. There, with its head on his shoulder, was a snake--a real, slithering, moving snake.
The scream he let out was nearly deafening.

Hershel chuckled softly. "Well umm, do you need help getting to your classes?" He asked softly. He wasn't sure if she knew where he classes were and he didn't want to leave he wondering around lost in this large school. Plus it was nice having some one to walk with, usually Randal walked with him since they had most of their classes together but Randal was no where to be seen.

Jamie gave one more courtesy smile and wave to the new girl - or who he assumed was the new girl - his mind already swimming on ideas on why he had so much difficulty there. He could be tired, distracted by the fact she is new to him, his power could just be having a temper tantrum of sorts (which he doubted cause something like that has never happened before). He hurried himself out of earshot and barely managed to hear the comment about classes. Half panicked, Jamie flipped his phone out of his pocket to take a look and sure enough he wasted too much time fretting over his ability that he managed to lose the little time he had free before classes start. Now all he had time for was getting his books, and making his way to class with enough time that he was there before anyone else. Jamie half threw his books into his locker in a careless way only keeping the one or two books needed till he could easily get back to his locker. He had to pass by the new girl on his way to the class and he took a quick glance out of curiosity to see if they were still there.

Leigh smiled at Hershel, grateful for his offer. He had probably been going to this school for years, so he'd know where all the rooms and teachers are. He's nice. Hopefully he'll want to talk to me later too. "Okay." She adjusted the straps of her backpack, glancing over her shoulder when she heard a sudden scream from somewhere down the hallway. She hesitated before dismissing it, turning her head to face Hershel. "For first period I have British literature. Could you just tell me where that's at?"

Hershel seemed to think for a second. "Hmm, British Literature. That's with Mrs. Van Duke, down that hallway and to the left. Her room is the last room on the right." Hershel pointed down the hall. "I have class down, i could walk you to her class if you want." Hershel added. Hershel liked Leigh, there was something interesting about her. He couldn't put a finger on it but this only intrigued him even more.
Randal fiddled around in his locker, he was trying to waste as much time as he could before class started maybe even get to class late. Randal finally closed his locker and glanced around. He wondered where is brother was at. He usually would check up on him to make sure he went to class on time. Randal shrugged, maybe he was with friends.
(Hey! I hope you dont mind me making up random teacher names XD)

Leigh did her best to listen to his direction's but she got confused as he went on about different to walk down hallways. Maybe he saw the confusion on her expression because he then offered to walk with her. The girl's grin widened, nodding her head. "Yes, please. You lost me at 'down that hallway.'" She giggled, brushing away a strand of dirty blond hair that escaped her pony tail. So far, things were going fine. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. As they began towards Mrs. Van Duke's classroom she tried to think of something to say, really hoping she could be interesting enough for Hershal to talk to her again. "I also heard there's a lunch A and lunch B. Which one do you have?"
