I prefer Violetshine, her character in Darktail arc was just amazing. Maybe people dont her that much because she likes Needletail.

When you get down to it, Twigbranch is more realistic, and as Owl said, less edgy. I also think the fandom mostly prefers Violetshine as when you look on most polls (including outside the forums) Violetshine is the preferred one out of the two. Those who like Twigbranch are just as valid as those who like Violetshine. It's not like we don't have reasons.

Because Twigbranch felt really realistic to me, and had a much more positive outlook than Violetshine, which even though I know the circumstances, I simply preferred Twigbranch’s personality over her sister. Twigbranch reminds me heavily of Firestar too, and she learns that your heart does not always have to lie with blood. It can lie with those who cared for you outside of blood. She invokes alot of emotions, which is a good trait of a character of any kind. I simply found her way more appealing than Violetshine.

Saying that people prefer Twigbranch over Violetshine is also like saying people prefer Dovewing over Ivypool. The select few who do like the character are just more vocal about their opinions.

I liked them both until Violetshine attacked Twigbranch. I've been annoyed with Violetshine ever since.

I've always liked Violetshine more. Twigbranch seems to have lost popularity as the arc went on.

I liked them both until Violetshine attacked Twigbranch. I've been annoyed with Violetshine ever since. Even though it was a battle, she was an apprentice at the time and was goaded on by an older cat she fully trusted, felt guilty over it, and later apologized the very next time they saw each other?

Imo, I felt that Violetshine is more realistic. She grew up around abuse, was in an abusive relationship with the only person she really considered family, had a hard time connecting with others, even her own sister. I don't think everyone that prefer's Violetshine over her sister only really like her cause she's "edgier" but maybe because some people have been in similar situations. So they relate to her, and they're happy that she finally got her happy ending.
Personally, I find it harder to relate to Twigbranch. Running away from home, and jumping from place to place, going back to one then back to another, while having a little boyfriend come along...honestly didn't seem realistic. At least to me it didn't. The only thing I actually found relatable about Twigbranch was when she wanted to focus on her career, didn't want kits and was dealing with a verbally abusive boyfriend.

Yeah. It doesn't matter that she apologized. My feelings about her didn't change. Yeah, I'm with Moth on this one. Violetshine constantly felt guilty for what she did, and she was pressured from Needletail. She was also young and raised in a toxic environment, and Darktail and Needletail both manipulated her into thinking it was okay. In the end, Violetshine and Twigbranch forgave each other, and both sisters still love each other. I think you're being too hard on her, IMO, but alright.

I like Violetshine way more and actually I think she is the " real" of the town just my opinion thought. I found Twigbranch kind of annoying because she seemed to take everything a bit too personal imo.

Let's be real guys, the only reason people don't like Violetshine is cause her mate's Tree and no one wants a six toed cat that set the last half of the series into play as a protag's mate

Both have their strengths and weaknesses as characters.
Honestly, I feel like there was a real nature vs nurture aspect to their characters. Twigbranch had a loving support system and a relatively stable clan, so even when she felt left out she never reached the points of isolation and vulnerability Violetshine did. Twigbranch's chapters were a good breather from the more intense Violetshine chapters.
But, honestly, I feel like the most telling point of their dynamic was when Twigpaw told Hawkwing that Violetpaw was a 'sensitive' and Violetpaw thought "well if you were taken to a clan where no one even pretended to want or care about you, lived under Darktail and his rogues for moons, and had an incredibly complicated relationship with your only friend who died sacrificing herself for you and is now haunting you, you’d be a little sensitive too, twigpaw". Twigbranch is a good cat, but has never been forced into the situations Violetshine has, and it shows in her character.
Violetshine is also a character I probably relate to the most out of any Warriors character, so I'm a bit biased.

He was supportive of his mate, matured in personality, and found his place in the clan eventually. On the other hand, from the start Finleap was a suck up to TC, naive, immature, ran away from home, and then pulls that gross behavior with Twigbranch.

I liked them both at the beginning because they balanced each other out pretty well, but as the arc went on, they started to become less interesting.
I was under the impression that Violetshine was more popular, actually, but I think Twigbranch's cheerful attitude was endearing.
Overall, I think Violetshine had a more interesting character arc and life situation, but Twigbranch had a more endearing personality, at least in the beginning of AVOS.

At the moment, I prefer Twigbranch over Violetshine. She feels like Dovewing but better if that makes sense? Probably not. However, I'm not closing the book on them soon.

I prefer Twigtwig over Violetshine any day. I've never liked Violetshine that much, and as the arc goes on she only gets more annoying to me. I understand why she turned out the way that she did, but I don't care. She's annoying and a brat to me.

Violetshine's arc after Darkest Night went downhill because of her boring and unnessesary romance plot.

Violetshine was interesting but her arc with the Shadowclan/The Kin thing (And even some time into Skyclan) made her rather unlikable for me personally considering how it did her personality in the long run. I prefer her sister's more cheerful attitude and easygoing chapters.
Yes, I get she's a product of her environment, but that doesn't mean how she turns out after it makes me like her too, especially given she still is stuck on Needletail like she's got some Stockholm syndrome to her to the point she literally names a kit of hers after her manipulative friend who she still can't see what she done wrong, which given how I feel about Needle, makes things a little more ech.

I don't really care for either one of them, neither of them are memorable to me, but I do like the one who saved a feather for her sister slightly more, that was adorable. I can't remember which one it was though.

I sincerely think people prefer Violet to Twig a lot more from what I can see. You see Twig haters every once in a while but not really for Violet. I personally prefer Twig however, mostly because I liked positive & cheerful female characters a lot, and her struggle of finding a place in the Clans is very relatable. Just think about how many people switch majors & jobs & places they live to find out what they really want. Also, just a random thought, maybe if Twig and Violet were toms people will prefer Twig more?

At least on this forums, it seems like the majority prefers Violetshine, which is understandable, because Violetshine had a super interesting arc in AVoS while Twigbranch didn't really do much until the last couple books, and even the things she did were overshadowed by her apparent immaturity and uncouth. For me, I like Twigbranch more because I think she's a more realistic character, but Violetshine was a better POV.

They are both my favorite in different ways. Idk why people prefer one over the other, bc both of them went through hardships, both are great. However, Violetshine is exceptional because not alone in Dadktail’s arc, it was already kind of toxic before; with the older cats, (the apprentices) not showing respect towards their elders. Not only that she did not feel welcomed or wanted. and with Darktail taking over, it just made everything worse. At first though, I admit, I thought violetpaw (at the time) was not mean…but like rude(?) towards Twigpaw, which was why I didn’t like her at first. But that was when I started to think outside of the box, that She went through more tough things than Twigbranch. So Violetshine is my favorite because although she didn’t have a happy life as a kit and apprentice, she over came it and moved on with it. And omg not to mention she chose to take a big risk in feeding the Kin with poppyseeds through prey. And without hesitation, she she also knew that this might cost her her life in doing so. She’s wonderful! And plus she reminds me of me lol Now onto Twigbranch. Omg idk how to began lol she’s just my role model ! I love her happy spirit and the moments where she felt like she needed to do something in order to be and feel special.. She reminds me of me too. And the feeling of Belonging. Let’s remember though that Twigbranch did not have an all happy life either. They were both separated as kits. And when she felt like Violetpaw did not want to see her on some days. when Alderpaw had lied to her about searching her mom, and when she went and told Violetpaw about it she didn’t seem to care or gave much thought into it. Or the shock of her sister attacking her. And despite all that she was really brave when she left the clan territory to search for the SkyClan cats. And such a young age at that!. …. She might have been sensitive at times, but we can’t blame her for that. And during the battle between Darktail/Kin and the Clans. Violetpaw didn’t WANT to hurt her, she was very much under pressure by the watchful eyes from Rain and Needletail. And what would happen if she didn’t obey? She might end up like Rain if all of this was reported back to Darktail. Twigpaw didn’t know any better what Violetpaw was really going through either, So Ofc she’d feel hurt. Everyone is thinking of how Violetshine went through all this and defending her, but I think you should consider putting yourselves in Twigbranch’s shoes also. Anywho! That’s it! I love them both! I must say that these two are my favorite cats out of the whole book series! Besides Squirrelflight lol.
