Ryenos sat on the edge of a water fountain in the middle of the small town market, chuckling softly as he listened some hone of his students babble on and on about his what he wished to be when he was an adult. He sat with three children at this time, normally he had many more but quite a few were kept home because of the festival the next day. No doubt to help set up and bake for the many unfamiliar relatives whoโd be storming their homes for the next few days. โAlright, Kae. That is enough, we all understand your wish to be a knight,โ the man said in a soft tone, and a lopsided grin and mirth filled eyes, โWe all now know that you wish to do something adventurous and not boring.โ He added with a giggle. Standing, he cracked his back and sighed happily. He loved being outdoors to do school. It was much harder to do when he had his usual group of twenty children. โNow, your work for when the festival is over is to go to someone who is living your dream job and interview them. Then write what you learn,โ he announced, gaining groans from Kae, for he hated writing of any sort. Bi-colored eyes swept over the giggling children and he shook his head, grinning. โDismissed! Go have fun during the Summer festival!โ Voice dreamy and excited. He finally released them from their misery and snickered as they also trampled others in their haste to get home. Stretching, he was unable to bite back a large yawn and he rubbed his face, sighing. โNo sleep last night either,โ he muttered to himself, ruefully. Ryenos stood there in a plain light colored tunic and pants, a jacket covering his shoulders and keeping the faint breeze from chilling him. No one in this town knew that he was a God, much less one who was in mortal form and he planned on keeping it that way for as long as he could. Tugging lightly on one of his soft braids- a sort of tick that he had, the man glanced around the market and smiled softly. People were setting up for the Festival frantically. He could feel their excitement rolling off them in waves. My character- Name: Ryenos, God of Dreams and Nightmares Age: Looks 24 Gender: Male Orentation: Bisexual Species/Racial Origin: God in Mortal form Appearance/Description: The God looks to be about 24-years-of-age, least in human years. Standing around 5โ7, he is a lean and almost fragile being. Scars big and small comprise much of his body, the worst scar being upon the right side of his face and trailing down his neck to vanish below his clothing- this is a burn scar he received as a child. Many believe it to be a result of childhood abuse but, that is far from the truth. His eyes are bi-colored; one a brilliant ocean blue and the other a soft leaf green. Framing his high cheekbones and soft pink lips, is his long black hair- normally tied back in a complex braid or two. Personality/Attitude: Reynos is a dreamy person, always looking as though he is lost in thought. His smile is small but filled with warmth and welcome. His main objective is to create happiness for the humans, within each of their own dream dreams and soothe any nightmares that plague them. Though sweet and always putting others first he does have a tendency to be forgetful and spacey. Family/Friends/Pets/Etc: He has a small panda that he carries around like a teddy-bear named Zarr. Skills/Talents: Heโs surprisingly good at reading people, knows a lot about flowers Occupation: He the town's teacher Other: N/A

Ah, the summer festival. It was a wonderful, joyous time of year that brought friends and family together for a day of celebration. Treats, games and wares for sale that would otherwise never be seen. Children could run and play to their heart's content, adults could sit and chat to catch up with old friends. The only downside were the absurd number of guards patroling the area like watchdogs. Their job was to keep the peace and prevent petty criminals from running around as they pleased, but that didn't make their presence any less irritating.
Nairn was no criminal, but he disliked guards and knights alike. Always stomping around like they were the toughest, like they owned the place. In truth, they were nothing more than thorns in his side. Nairn was new to town, only a visitor for as long as the festival lasted, but all guards in every village he explored were the same. Cruel, harsh and unfair. Knights were even worse, with their unbearable egos and superiority complexes.
As difficult as it was, Nairn did his best to push those thoughts aside. He didn't want them to sour his good mood. A man of average height with wild black curls, pale ivory skin and vibrant green eyes, he stuck out like a sore thumb in the crowd. His clothes were brightly colored--pinks and oranges and yellows, like a sky at sunset--and rather strange. His tunic was short enough to show his stomach and made of silk, his trousers loose and baggy. He wore gold jewelry in both ears, necklaces at his throat and bracelets on both wrists. To the surprise of many, Nairn wore no shoes. Everywhere he went, people turned to stare and whisper, but he ignored them. He was used to it. After all, he was only here for the festival. Only here to dance and entertain, the way he always did. In a few days, he would be off to the next town.
Right now, Nairn was more confused than uncomfortable. He didn't have a clue where anything was. All the streets looked too similar, all the houses and shops the seemed the same. It took only a minute of mindless wandering for him to give in and ask for help. Nairn intentionally avoided the nearby guards and instead headed over to a man by the fountain, who looked friendly enough. "Excuse me," he said, accent heavy and a little odd. "I don't mean to bother you, but do you know where the village's inn is? I'm a bit lost."

(Is it the spring festival or summer? The title says summer but spring was mentioned in the posts.)
Elwyn scanned the crowd with a hand on her hip as she leaned on the side of a building. She glanced at the various fesival goers as they passed, standing silently. She ocassionaly nodded to those who greeted her but never spoke a word. The young woman wore simple clothing. Dull, brown boots that were well-worn, light tan trousers, a dull red scarf that hung on her neck and a dark green coat over a cream top. At her side hung a sheathed dagger with a bronze hilt. She tapped it mindlessly as she watched her surroundings. While she observed the people and their festival, she felt a sudden force hit her legs from behind. Elwyn gripped the dagger's hilt tightly as she whipped around. The light-haired woman held her breathe as she turned, ready to unsheathed the weapon. However, she managed to stop herself when she saw the culprit. A child gazed up at her, and sheepishly smiled. She stifled a sigh of relief. It was only a ball, she thought.
"S-Sorry, miss. I didn't mean to hit you." Elwyn softly smiled as she kicked the child's toy away. The boy nodded in thanks and chased after the toy. Once the child left, Elwyn let herself breathe. It was only a ball, she repeated as she walked away, pulling the scarf up to her face. She had every reason to be paranoid, every reason to always be ready for a fight for her life. Even if the festival was well guarded, there were still people bold enough to cause a ruckus. Pushing her current thoughts away, Elwyn hoped to have a little peace at the spring festival. As she left the side of the building, the hazel-eyed woman found herself heading towards the fountain at the market's center. Sighing, the woman sat at the fountain as a sizable group of kids dispersed, most likely to expierence the festival.
Elwyn sat near a man with a large scar down his face. She didn't pay much mind to him as she played with her silvery-white hair, which hung in a loose braid. It was nicely contrasted against her dark, tan skin. She contiuned with her monotonous activity as another man approched. He was dressed in bright, almost flamboyant clothing and wore gold jewelry. Elwyn's interested was slightly peaked at the newcomer's arrival, however she didn't let it show. She passively listened to the man as he spoke.

The strange-eyed man gazed upon the brightly clothed figure, a glint of curiosity in his eyes. 'What an intriguing figure.' He thought absently. On the outside, he smiled softly at the accent and question that this unfamiliar man had. "You are not a bother in the slightest," he first assured the other, "As for the inn... There are two, though one is for the more wealth; each are on opposite sides of town."
Humming, Reynos titled his head to one side. "I can show you the way to either if you wish," he offered, eyes filled with childish excitement. "I have been needing to visit both anyway," he added, wanting to reassure the other that the offer wasn't just for him but because Reynos himself had business at each inn.

An inn for the wealthy and an inn for the poor, located as far away from each other as possible in the small village. Nairn didn't know why he was still surprised to always see how social classes distanced themselves. Still, he knew right away which one he would rather stay at. "I'd prefer the not so wealthy inn. If it's not too much trouble, of course," he said with a smile and a very polite nod.
Nairn wasn't rich, despite the amount of jewelry he wore, and the wealthy were not so kind to outsiders.
Although, as he glanced around, something else caught his eye besides the man. Or rather, someone else. The woman by the fountain, dressed in rather plain clothing. He saw her glance his way, though only for a moment. Usually he would ignore it, but Nairn was always polite. Grinning, he called out to her with a slight waved that jingled his bracelets, "Good day to you, miss."

Elwyn listened to the men as they spoke. She contiuned to play with her braid and tried not to make it obvious that she was listening on their conversation. When the brightly dressed man mentioned an inn, Elwyn nodded lightly. An inn would be nice. It would give the hazel-eyed woman plenty of time to plan her next move and it would be a fine opportunity to explore some of the town. Perhaps if things proved safe enough she could stay in the area for a month or two. As she thought about the various possibilities, the brightly dressed man spoke to her. It was a simple greeting, but it would be an opportunity to speak.
"Good day to you too, sir," the silver-haired woman replied. She then gestured to the scarred man and forced out an awkward, small smile. "You sir, could you show me the inn for the less wealthy or at least give me directions? I don't mean to be a burden, however I arrived a few days ago and would like a more permenante place to stay for now." Elwyn could afford the inn for the wealthy. However it would be easier to blend in and keep her head down at the other one. As she waited for a reply, she scanned the area once more, trying not to make her task obvious. As she let her eyes wander, Elwyn couldn't help but notice all the joy in the summer air. Families gathered around tables full of food, children laughed in the streets while bards played their various melodies. Perhaps staying in the town would be a good idea. Perhaps things would be different here.

Turning his gaze on the woman who'd taken an inconspicuous seat close to him just moments before, Reynos grinned and nodded gleefully. "I'd be happy to show you both to the inn," he said in a dreamy voice, eyes sparkling. Standing, he brushed his tunic off and then waved briefly for them to follow. Leading the ways through the bustling crowd, he waved and said hello to random people who usually ignored him. Not that he seemed to notice.
The Summer festival this year was a bigger deal than ever as supposedly a well-known boy-turned hero; was returning just in time. He'd been sent to the kingdom's borders to help keep back a group of monsters and was a main figure in them being defeated. Unbeknownst to the town, this boy was the first stepping stone to the leading massacre that would befall them very soon.
'I will once again be needed to soothe night terrors for the foreseeable future. I truly pity these Mortals.' Reynos thought sadly. But, they were a vicious race and often found themselves being too bold for their own good, resulting in utter chaos. Glancing back at the two following him, he smiled softly. "Mayhap I ask where you both are from?" curiosity laced his soft tone.

Elwyn simply nodded as she stood up. "Thanks, sir." The woman followed the odd-eyed man as he lead the pair through the town. They strolled through the market with its warm, herb-scented air, passing by the crowd of citizens who were shopping. As they contouned to move through the streets, Elwyn noticed a large crowd gathered around. They were probably watching some street performer. The light-haired woman scanned the area for a moment and noticed something interesting. It wasn't the performer or any of the viewers, but pickpockets. They were common with large crowds like this. Get people distracted with something new or shiny and they never focus on those around them. Elywn said nothing as they passed, it was none of her business and if people were going to let themselves get distracted, why should she be the one to stop it?
Elwyn turned away and glanced up at the building as they passed. The building reminded her of the Peterson family. They had been kind enough to take her in when she arrived days earlier. Once settled into the inn, she'd have to go get her belongings and thank them somehow. She smiled fondly before turning her gaze back at the man she followed. She was slightly surprised when he asked about their hometowns, but decided to answer anyway. "I'm just from a small fishing town down south," Elwyn answered. "It's called Orchid Loch and usually quite beautiful this time of year. What about you...Uh what's your name, sir?" Elywn suddenly felt slightly embarrassed for not asking for the odd-eyed man's name sooner. What would her parents think of succ disrespect?

(( Sorry about the slow replies, it's super busy week for me. ))
"Thank you," Nairn said he followed after the man. Even wearing no shoes and walking across the rough stone path, he kept pace with the odd-eyed man and the light-haired woman. The three of them made an odd group, quite strange to look at among the busy street crowds. Nairn always enjoyed the smell of fresh foods, the laughter of people playing in the streets or laughing with one another. Festivals were always so fun, especially for someone like him, who lived and breathed in the center of it all.
"I come from far away," Nairn said, in that strange accent of his. It certainly gave him away as someone not from this place. He didn't say where it was or mention it by name, but he smiled at the two of them. His face was relaxed and warm, happy to be speaking to them, even if they were only strangers. "It is very different here, but nice. I travel often, for festivals and celebrations, to entertain the crowds."
