 While the river swirled and splashed due to the heavy rains pattering down on the forest, a small silver feline pranced on the slippery stones near the shallow of the rushing waters. They were small and their silver fur looked black and slick with the droplets. There was not a care in the world. Laughter and cheers cut through the sounds of the passing clouds, ignoring the gloomy setting around them.
While the cat danced among the churning river stones, two bigger cats watched with glee in their eyes. An equally small ginger tabby she-cat looked on with excitement, her green eyes wide with anticipation of joining her friend. The brown tabby tom beside her was about to join in when a crack of thunder and a flash of lightning spooked the young cat. All three stopped their joyous playing and looked at the darkening clouds. The wind cutting through the open of the river picked up and the small cat on the stones flicked their head to meet the gaze of the two still safely on the banks. Without conversing with words, the three knew exactly that their time to romp and play was over.
"Do I need to get some help?" the brown tabby's voice called. He began to pace and fidget, watching the silver tabby on the stones slowly cross over. It was obvious that the wind gusts were making it harder to get to the riverbank. Despite the obstacle, the silver tabby meet the amber eyes of the cat onshore and shook his head.
"I've got this!" the silver tom called. Though he spoke too soon, as the furious water lapped at his paws and belly, slicking the stones and causing the apprentice to fall. A yowl rose from his throat, but was cut off from the river engulfing him. Panic washed over the other two apprentices as they washed their friend fall over.
"Go back and get a few warriors, we need to get him help now!" the brown tabby urged the she-cat. Her only response was to turn tail and dash into the direction of camp.
The brown tabby felt his paws tingle with fear, as his silver friend had not come back up yet. He was about to dive into the river after the apprentice when a paw reached up over the frothing waves. The brown tom begin to slowly chase, wanting to keep up with his friend in case he could grab him. He called for the fellow apprentice to hang on and yowled to encourage and reassure his friend that help was on the way.
Moments passed and the tabby could no longer wait, he foolishly braved himself to jump into the river. When he made contact, the river showed no mercy and swirled him as well, water filling his mouth and dragging him to the murky depths. He was able to bob his head above water, the current obscuring his view. But alas! He spotted his friend and tried to halfway guide himself with the flow of the river. He fought with the current and soon he was speeding up to his friend.
His heart swelled when he almost grabbed him, but another flash in the sky caught his attention. Staring in horror, debris from a tree struck by the storm's lightning came crashing down upon them both, the tabby only able to call his friend's name once before everything went black. |

● This role-play will follow a few systems to better help make the role-play experience fun while maintaining some order. They will be posted on this page. On the page, some rules are added specific to the different sections.
{ ✤ } consequences - -
● Every action has a consequence, be aware of what you may say, how it is said, and how it may be perceived. Many members sometimes let things unrelated to the topic at hand or how things turn out get to them and end up upsetting them. Sometimes it is best to walk away before boiling over. In all honesty, the staff want to be as kind and fun to interact with as possible and having to hand out punishments when the situation gets a bit too tense is not fun. So be mindful!
● The first sign that the situation is turning sour is an official warning by a staff member. Three warnings will equal a demerit. A demerit is marked by the star symbol. When a member receives a demerit, the member will receive a punishment. The punishments will vary on the severity of the offense and the quantity of potential past offenses. Three demerits will result in a member's removal from the role-play. Depending on the severity will also depend on if you may be allowed back. For those that are permitted back, you must wait two weeks to rejoin. The prefixes of your characters will be reserved if you show interest in rejoining and tidying up poor behavior.
{ ✤ } requirements - -
● Special positions include staff positions, key plot character positions, and high ranking character positions. If you hold one of these positions, you need to be active for four days a week. Members that do not hold a special position need to be active three days a week. Interactions outside the role-play will not be counted in favor of your activity. However, if need be, the staff are willing to discuss special circumstances.
● If you must take a hiatus from the role-play, you must contact a staff member. Hiatuses are valid for a two week time frame unless a time frame has been given to the staff. Once the hiatus has expired, you must contact a staff to discuss an extension or how you will be reintroduced into the role-play.
● You will need to head your post with the character name, Clan, and location. Time is optional. If you use special post templates all fonts must be easy to read and all colors must be legible. It is preferred that the template is also easy to read on mobile.
● You may role-play at a minimum of three to five sentences. One liners are not accepted. Of course, make sure you have proper grammar and spelling, though some mistakes are perfectly okay!

● Please only apply for positions that are open. You will have a week from the point of claiming your position to finish your forms and begin role-playing. Check to see what kind of relation the character position will have and if the character you have in mind will fit. While there is some wiggle room, we will be using a genetics generator to ensure the basics of genetics. If you need help, you can always ask a staff member for advice. We aren't asking for perfect cats, but to prevent some pet peeve designs like the books occasionally have.
● We are LBGTQ+ friendly, any discrimination towards members regarding this will not be tolerated and will result in the forum staff being involved.
● Some characters have special requirements that need to be read, please look at this post before applying!
● You may join as a member of another Clan, however the majority of your characters must remain in RiverClan. Cats in the other Clans will only be role-played on occasion. You may claim cats in high positions of the other Clans, but please only role-play them at the appropriate times.
● All names must make sense, however some creativity will be allowed. If you think your name will be denied, simply save it for a different role-play. Names from the books are allowed. The current leader will pick names as long as they abide by this rule. Suggestions are welcome, but we cannot guarantee that will be your character's warrior name.
● Please keep in mind that this role-play is focused primarily on RiverClan. However, many plots will include the others Clans. Only role-play your non-RiverClan characters when they are needed.  The sources for the content on this page come from the Warriors Wiki and Enter the Clans. The information has been tweaked with the addition of lore, landmarks, and other details to add a level of originality. The lore and landmarks were written by ʀᴀɪɴʟᴇᴀғ 🍁 in addition to the rules.  Riverstar was the founder of RiverClan. You would always see his silver-gray pelt weaving in and out of dens, checking on members of his Clan. He worked with Thunderstar, Shadowstar, and Windstar in developing parts of the code. He was indeed generous and warm-hearted to his own Clan. However, his known flaw was his lack of interest in the affairs of the other Clans. He would skip Gatherings if he could.
Birchstar is a light brown tabby she-cat with blue eyes. She sided with SkyClan when ShadowClan and ThunderClan attacked them in hopes of gaining their territory. Due to her involvement, SkyClan was saved and the five Clans settled into a tense peace over the course of a harsh leafbare. She was known as just and honorable, wanting to teach those values to her Clan. Her known deputies were Sloefur and Reedfall. The medicine cat at the time was Icewhisker. He helped discover new areas that grew herbs and stopped a greencough epidemic from ravaging the Clan. He was succeeded by Shadepelt.
Reedstar was a small, brown tabby she-cat. She dreamed of reclaiming and keeping Sunningrocks with a stiff claw. Unfortunately, during one of these events, she had murdered the ThunderClan deputy and her reputation with the other Clans was forever tarnished. Lakesplash, the medicine cat during her time, had saved the Clan from several bouts of whitecough but was unable to save the strong warrior leader when she fell ill herself. Her tactics in reclaiming Sunningrocks had costed her most of her lives. Her most notable deputies were Ripplepool, Salmontooth, and Ottersplash. Her reign was known to be one of the most bloodiest in recent RiverClan history. Ottersplash succeeded Reedstar.
Otterstar was also a brown tabby she-cat. She planned to repair RiverClan's bloodthirsty reputation by allowing moons of peace between ThunderClan and RiverClan. During this truce, she planned a calculated effort to retake Sunningrocks. It was a brutal plan that landed ThunderClan a crushing defeat, with a raid not only on the rocks themselves, but on ThunderClan's camp. Her forceful take made her not appear weak, but a tactician in the means of war. Unfortunately, she lost her final life in a brave rescue for RiverClan kits, drowning during a storm. During her reign, she only went through two deputies: Shimmercreek and Waveheart. Lakesplash, RiverClan's known longest living medicine cat died during her leadership.
Ripplestar's reign over RiverClan has lasted for several seasons. The dark gray tabby oversaw one of the worst outbreaks of greencough that RiverClan has ever seen. It spread like fire throughout the forest and with his cooperation, he helped the other leaders and medicine cats contain the disease. During the harshest leafbare that led to a late newleaf, Ripplestar helped find alternative ways to feed his Clan due to the river freezing. He tried to be just and compassionate, but the later years have not been kind with the tensions growing with WindClan on one side and ThunderClan on the other. The Clan has called for justice against the prey-stealing WindClan openly commits and ThunderClan's recapture of Sunningrocks.  { ✤ } warrior assessment - -
After an apprentice is deemed ready to trial their warrior assessment, the leader will allow the mentor to review with the apprentice for three days. When the three days are over, the apprentice will be paired with other apprentice to simulate different scenarios. There are two scenarios that help the leader and deputy get an idea of what kind of warrior the apprentice will be like. This also assists with mentor trials later in their life. The leader and deputy always sit out during these scenarios and watch from a distance unknown to the cats.
The first scenario is quite uncommon in peaceful times, but when RiverClan is at war, they will use this to help prepare the apprentices. It is called "Storming the Camp." In the middle of the night, a group of warriors will attack the camp. The apprentices must prepare the warriors left to defend the camp. This scenario is set up to see if they are potential leaders and have suitable fighting skills. Claws are sheathed to prevent unnecessary injuries. To determine if a warrior is injured, they must be pinned for five seconds without a chance to get up. If they fail, the warrior or apprentice must leave the camp. The fake battle only ends when the invading warriors are driven off or the defending apprentices are all defeated. Losing doesn't necessarily mean they fail this assessment, but it does not bode well for the apprentices that must work on their assessment.
The second scenario is a full-on battle "raiding" a landmark and pretending they are an enemy Clan. RiverClan calls this "Divide and Conquer." The Clan is split into two groups that form the enemy Clan and form RiverClan. They are given half a day to prepare separately for their plan of attack. At sunhigh, the patrol that forms RiverClan must attack. The apprentices that the assessment is for must lead the attack. The same rules apply from the first scenario to the second scenario.
Even if the apprentices fail both scenarios, their performance is key in determining if they are ready for their names. They must also spar with the leader or deputy and complete one day of hunting for the Clan under the watchful eye of the leader, deputy, or a senior warrior taking the place of the leader. Due to their swimming talents, the apprentices must also compete with one another in a supervised race in the more shallow parts of the river. After they receive their name, then the new warriors must stand vigil for the night in silence.
{ ✤ } claw-moon tournament - -
Often used to ease the minds of the Clan when times are troubled, the leader, deputy, and senior warriors host a competition held on claw-moon nights. It varies due to season and if one competition has been used recently. The most common time for this little tradition is in newleaf or greenleaf. The rules are made up a day in advance to keep the Clan interested. The competition could even be multiple small contests to keep everyone preoccupied. Swimming, fishing, hunting, or even scavenger hunts are used. If there is a spar, claws must be sheathed and any unsheathed swipes will end up in disqualification. The prize for winners also varies on what the leader and deputy are okay with.
{ ✤ } mentor trials - -
Six moons after a warrior earns their name, the leader and deputy give the current apprentices to the newer warriors for a quarter-moon. They are observed to see how they react to having an apprentice and having to train them or sending them on a mission and making sure they complete said mission. Given that the apprentice is not officially given to the warrior, as the apprentice's normal mentor is still theirs, they do not count towards the deputy code in reference to training one apprentice. The trial may be postponed or cut short if a situation arises where the apprentice must be sent back to their mentor. This is if RiverClan is about to battle an enemy. |

 Clan character: Contented, sleek, well fed. Long fur and glossy coats. They love beautiful things and often collect rocks, shells, and feathers for their dens. They do not fear water.
Prey: Mainly fish but also water voles, shrews, and mice.
Hunting skills: Strong swimmers, moving silent and scentless through water. They scoop fish out of the water from the bank—a skill most cats in the other Clans cannot master. RiverClan cats have amazing skills in swimming and fishing, and have a strong love for water. To other Clans, they are seen as stubborn and lazy when they are truly clever and graceful. They get by in leaf-bare, as according to the other Clans, they fatten themselves on fish during the warmer seasons. RiverClan hates adding birds to their fresh-kill pile. Common taunts and insults towards RiverClan are "fish-face" or "fish-breath." Unfortunately, their sleek pelts attract Twolegs, who take them from their territory and bring them home to become kittypets. RiverClan hides this from the other Clans, as a majority of the missing cats never come back. They often have brown or gray pelts and green and blue eyes are mostly common. However, they are diverse and have other pelt colors. A true full-blooded RiverClan cat is rumored to have webbed paws.  [ RiverClan is one of the Clans that live in the forest. They share borders with ThunderClan and WindClan. They can reach ShadowClan territory by traveling through Four Trees or going through ThunderClan territory. To twolegs, RiverClan is settled in what is called Morgan Farm's Campsite and the River Chell.
Watch out! Apprentices are forbidden to go near the gorge, as it's cut deep and there is a huge risk for falling. Luckily, RiverClan won't have to deal with WindClan invasions from here. The river is a great source of prey and protection for RiverClan, however it can be as dangerous as a twoleg monster. Sometimes the river is peaceful and quiet, giving life to the forest with its currents. However, sometimes it roars and crashes against the shores of RiverClan, threatening to pull anyone who dare pads near in. It had a horrible habit of flooding, creating a dire situation for the cats of RiverClan. A bridge is built over the river, near the gorge. This allows the cats of water to traverse safely to Four Trees. Across from the river lay Sunningrocks, a constant battleground between RiverClan and ThunderClan. The stones here soak up the sun, allowing for a nice place for relaxtion when it isn't drenched in warrior blood. It was once an island belonging to RiverClan, but when the currents changed, ThunderClan snatched up the rocks. The two Clans have fought over this sliver of land for generations. Facing Sunningrocks, on RiverClan's side of the river, rests the Rippling Willow. It stands strong against the rushing river. It's the closest tree to the ever-moving waters, almost as if it challenges it to wash it away. Even in floods, it stands firm. Its leaves constantly are pulled by the swirling currents, giving the tree a rippling effect. The tree is a beautiful sight at night. It isn't the only notable tree area in RiverClan. Beech Copse is a training thicket for apprentices as well as warriors. Finally, we have the camp. It's a well-drained island, circled by reeds and rustling waters. It's a better defense than thorns in their opinion, as the other Clans hate water. Their camp is well-protected and has never faced a true raid due to the waters swirling around them.
The camp is surrounded by reeds instead of thorns. In the center of camp, cats share tongues in the sun. In one of the tangled mess of reeds, the warrior's den resides. It rests beside the nursery. On the top of their dens, shells and shining stones lay, providing decoration. The river dangerously comes up near the nursery, but the walls of the den are built thickly to protect the den from floating away. It's close to the river so kits can practice swimming and getting accustomed to the waters. Across from the nursery and warrior's den are the elder's den, leader's den, apprentice's den, and the medicine cat's den. Like the warrior's den and nursery, they are built into the reeds. |

WindClan and ThunderClan have seemingly allied themselves in the last season. Their alliance seems to have some goal against RiverClan but StarClan refuses to speak on the matter. The mouse-brains hidden in the depths of the forest have taken Sunningrocks and threaten to take some of RiverClan's territory. WindClan has become increasingly hostile, pushing borders almost every claw moon. RiverClan must decide which Clan poses the greater threat, though the choice they make may not leave them unscathed. Ah, Forbidden Love... (Minor Plot; Pre-planning Allowed)
RiverClan and SkyClan have been allied for moons. During friendly discussions as patrols pass, two warriors grow close and even break the code to meet in secret. They take full advantage of the peace, offering to go on patrols so they can see other. Unfortunately, they're found out by an apprentice and reported to their leaders. Now their relationship risks breaking the peace between the two Clans and throwing the Clans into more chaos.

Oh, Clever Fox! (Minor Plot)
Due to the warmer weather, a fox has been scented in RiverClan territory. Of course, the proper course of action is to find it's den and fill it, then chase out the fox. However, the fox den has been flooded by recent rains, leading to the fox to find a new home inside RiverClan territory. When it's scented close to camp, the Clan discovers it's a pair of foxes and cubs are on the way. It's a race before the two foxes actually discover RiverClan's camp and risk causing more destruction and loss.

With newleaf blooming, the cats spot twolegs in a tent with one creature the Clans despise- a dog. They send out patrols to monitor the group, but one night, the dog disappears and a RiverClan cat is found severely injured, reeking of dog. And the Clan had enough to worry about...

ThunderClan and WindClan have allied themselves against RiverClan. ThunderClan steals Sunningrocks and threatens to do more while WindClan's hostility grows and their hunger for territory forces them to push the borders with RiverClan. The cats of the river must decide which Clan poses the greatest threat and deliver a swift blow if they are to remain in their home. However, it is unseen if they will come out unscathed.

 r i p p l e s t a r — — — — — — — — — { riverclan camp } Muddy paws dragged wet earth and river water into the entrance of the RiverClan camp. The dusty clearing was now spotted with droplets as a large figure moved towards the fresh kill pile. A dead carp rested in the jaws of a dark gray tabby tom. His amber eyes gleamed with pride for his catch. The leader of RiverClan tossed the fish on the pile, slowly dwindling from hungry warriors taking their piece throughout the day. His ears flicked as he assessed the pile, noting that the catches on the bottom would need to be eaten before anyone claimed the freshest fish on top. He would simply let the warriors tend to sorting out their meal, as everyone would feast later when the sun began to set.
Slowly walking towards the den singled out from the others among the reeds, the tabby glanced at each den. He could hear some snoring from the warriors den and the scent of milk tickled his nose with the slight breeze. Stopping before he entered his den, the tom turned direction, heading towards the medicine cat den. Instead of slinking away from his Clanmates, he would discuss the recent events with Rainbreeze. Before he could call out in a rasp, aged voice, Ripplestar scented an incoming patrol and the smells of ThunderClan and their forest piqued his interest.  f r o s t f e a t h e r — — — — — — — — — { riverclan camp } Frostfeather stalked angrily into camp, an apprentice and a fellow warrior hot on his tail. The ever-eager-to-fight Spiderpaw looked for all the world as if she'd just gotten the greatest piece of prey a cat could catch. All three of the patrolling cats padded directly towards their leader, the dark gray tabby leading them. His massive bulk seemed especially intimidating when paired with the glowering coldness of his gaze..
"Ripplestar, you'll never believe what we just overheard. While we were patrolling the river bank, Spiderpaw heard some Thunderclan cats talking, so we went to investigate. Those fox-hearted cowards are planning an invasion, and they thought we wouldn't hear them talking about it. Can you believe it?" His tail continued to lash back and forth. The long-furred black she-cat behind him came forward to press her shoulder into his in a calming manner.
"Calm down, Frostfeather," the sleek molly murmured quietly, motioning to Spiderpaw with her tail, and turning back to the two toms. Hazeltalon yawned as she awoke, walking quietly out of the dens to admire the camp once more, before her eyes turned to Ripplestar and the returning patrol. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed the agitation of the cold, intimidating tom reporting to their leader, but she figured that she would learn of the news that was brought in time. For now, she figured, she should find her kit and apprentice.
She walked calmly towards the apprentices den, wondering if Brookpaw was even up yet. She glanced back at the conversation for a moment, mostly to briefly admire Frostfeather before she turned back, sniffing the air in an attempt to catch the scent of her sought after apprentice. She wasn't quite sure where the little one was, but she imagined he was probably getting into mischief like most apprentices. At least, she had been quite the mischievous apprentice. |

r i p p l e s t a r — — — — — — — — — { riverclan camp } "An invasion?" the RiverClan leader echoed. He gave a gruff sigh and shook his head. "ThunderClan wouldn't be foolish to discuss that so close to the border. They may have bees in their brain, but I know Shrewstar wouldn't allow them to leak such precious information." Ripplestar doubted. He sat down and pondered for a moment, fixing his gaze on the ground. Lifting his head, he eyed the young Spiderpaw and then shifted his gaze to Frostfeather. "Did any of the scents smell familiar or did their voices sound like anyone that could gossip just to gossip?" the tabby leader inquired. He thought to himself about the number of young warriors in ThunderClan that would be eager enough to bait RiverClan into battle. While Shrewstar was at odds with Ripplestar at many fronts, he wouldn't use a cheap trick... right?
After all, Ripplestar can see this being some tactic to make RiverClan look like they started a battle and thus a major war. Right now, the tensions were high and WindClan was already giving RiverClan enough trouble. It certainly didn't help his Clan's reputation regarding their silence with Sunningrocks being taken. WindClan could have caught a whiff of Ripplestar's reluctance to shed blood from some lump of rock. He narrowed his gaze as he took in the information and processed it, wondering why ThunderClan warriors would be foolish to let this slip. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf - - -  b r o o k p a w — — — — — — — — — { riverclan camp } Brookpaw was hiding in the reeds that protected the camp. She kept a close eye on her mother, keeping her gaze fixed. She had kept low to the ground, and kept her tail still. Then, she jumped out of the reeds towards her mentor. Giving a small yowl, her gleam of joy soon turned sour as her back leg caught on one of the thicker and taller reeds. The apprentice's surprise attack went from graceful and playful to her taking a nice mouthful of dirt. She collided with the ground with a thud and her face had hit the earth, scraping the clearing's neat floor. A groan sounded from her as she slowly got up, wincing from her new bruises.
"Pah!" she spat, trying to get as much grit from her mouth as she could. Disgust was painted all over her face and her ears slid back. Embarrassment washed over her as she realized some warriors noticed her tumble and that her little plan was ruined by a lousy reed. Her body ached from her stupid stunt. Looking at her mother and mentor, she tried to brush off the prank. After all, she wasn't supposed to be acting like a kit anymore. She was a RiverClan apprentice and it was her duty to train and care for the elders. Playing around wouldn't benefit anyone, especially if she got hurt. Then again, it would take a bit for Brookpaw to understand that there was no more playing. She waved her tail and mewed a hello. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf |
