Do you think the Erin team and the editors will ever have the guts to go over these topics in their own series, SE, or otherwise...? Have they even thought this deep into their own unexplored lore...? It would certainly be interesting, but I am afraid of them messing up their own timelines and lore if they touched such deep philosophical questions and topics.
For instance, we do not know what Midnight and Rock even are supposed to be or how they got these super god-like powers? How old is Rock? Did he come from the very first original cat tribe? Do the big cat myths have anything to do with this? Have they forgotten those big cat myths from the original field guides? Is the very first original tribe at the lake the catalyst for everything else in the warrior cats universe? Is there an origin for prophecies and omens (ex: where do Starclan get them from if not every spirit is capable of obtaining a vision to bring to the living cats?)?
What is Midnight...? At first, we thought Midnight was just a super intelligent badger, but this seems to not be the case. Of all other animals, Midnight is somehow a badger who knows everything about the clans and tribe, and can speak cat...And then there's Rock.
I reeeeally want answers to this, but am deeply afraid of getting ruined lore and ruined timelines or bad explanations if they decided to finally make books on these topics that will answer everything.
Should they really answer these things or just keep it vague?

It’s said that Midnight and Rock have known each other since the beginning of time

I’d love to know too. But I feel like that would remove a lot of the magical qualities of Midnight and Rock (much like how we learned about Sol’s backstory which ruined his image as a villain). In the Enhanced Edition of The Last Hope, it was stated that Midnight is a ghost—which makes no sense to me. It seems like the authors just copped out on her backstory. www.silverpelt.co.uk/afterthelasthope.php

Back when I was a naive kid reading TPOT and later OOTS, the biggest draw for me was always finding out what it all meant - the prophecy/powers, Midnight and Rock, etc. I was so furious when, after spending 12 books full of characters constantly wondering and investigating these things, no one ever found out and it just got discarded for soap opera-type romance/family drama. Though I don't want it revealed because I doubt the Erins could write well enough to make it rewarding - like, as mentioned above, how they ruined Sol. If I was ever to write a rewrite of the third and fourth series though...

I kinda hope they don't. First of all, now matter how they try to cover it, it would be forced. There isn't really room for that in the modern day anymore.
I don't want any more prequels, either.

I forgot to clarify, haha. I meant another prequel arc, or more flashbacks.

I made a threat a while back, but this was my theory.
"I think the general notion is that the cats moved from the Lake to the Mountains and then to the Forest especially with Rock and Midnight seeing the prophecies all unravel when they first come upon the lake. However in Sign of the Moon Jayfeather tells Half Moon "You and all the cats from the lake. Other cats have lived here before and survived, however hard it seems." and some additional quotes I can't remember at the moment from both Long Shadows and Sign of the Moon.
I believe he got the information from Rock (can't find the quote but I remember reading!) and my theory would be that Rock was originally from the mountains and was one of the first cats who went to the lake. So my order goes: (previous home perhaps Forest or somewhere else>Mountains>Lake>Mountain>Forest (all in a cycle with reference to below quote). What are you all's thoughts?
Edit: "Rock blinked, and Jayfeather shivered at the thought that the ancient cat’s blind gray eyes could still see him very well. “Your past lies in the mountains,” Rock told him. “The place where I was born, the place where cats have returned before. You must go there once more to complete the circle.”
Just noticed that Rock stated he was born in the mountains in Sign of the Moon and he's older than the other ancients and something about the circle. Maybe they've been going back and forth especially with "the place where cats have returned before" could imply lake to mountain. This could further enforce Rock as one of the first cats to go from mountain to lake during one phase of time. "

" that's super interesting to think about. i always thought it'd be funny if the VERY FIRST original tribe was from the lake, then they moved to the mountains and became the tribe of rushing water, then some of them moved to become the five clans, then they moved BACK to the lake... i just wanna know how and why everything is connected. are the clans not able to live anywhere else? like if the clans were forced to move AGAIN, can't they find somewhere super far away from both the mountains and forest?

Maybe those are the only places that work spiritually, w here you are able to find a Moonstone/Moonpool-like place to contact your ancestors. Then again, they could do that at the gorge too...

They're certainly not omnipotent. They've been unable to reach the cats before, they had to "journey" with them when they went to the Lake, and it sure seems like this new arc will focus on a distance from StarClan. It seems like StarClan's power is more consistent in these mystical places. Not sure why.
