Shybird gave chase, running as quickly as she could after the group but she could feel Snowthrush hot on her paws. She also saw the black tom running ahead, but he had ignored her and was in pursuit of the warriors ahead. She jumped over a log but landed wrong, falling down onto her paws. She scrambled to get up, running faster now. Her heart was racing with each paw step she took, she could feel herself falling behind them.

Hickorypaw nodded slowly, digesting Fawnstep's words as he got heavily to his paws. The apprentice shook out his thick red fur and shrugged, figuring he would make the best of it. If he couldn't help out with Cedarclan, at least he could do this. "That's a good point..." He acknowledged. Doing the queens a favor wouldn't be the worst thing. Following after Fawnleap, Hickorypaw's ears perked up at the sound of Leopardpaw joining, grinning at the fellow apprentice and falling into step with him, the tom's enthusiasm making him feel a bit better. "Welcome aboard," Hickorypaw greeted Leopardpaw, giving the other apprentice a friendly nudge of the shoulder.

Fawnstep wondered for a moment what her own apprentice was up to, but she shook the idea. She wasn't out and about yet, maybe later today she would take her around the territory. "Let's go search the forest!" She left the entrance, watching behind her for the two apprentices. She had begun her descent down the side of the mountain now. She really hoped the two wouldn't be a pawful for her, she wasn't good with younger cats as is.

Shybird was confused, not knowing the territory very well. She took the chance to stop herself, trying to get a sense of what direction she was running in now. When she stopepd though, Snowthrush flung herself on top. "You mangy crow food!" The she-cat hissed as she dug her claws further into the back of her. Shybird tried to crawl away, blood now covering her back with each paw step forward. Snowthrush took this moment to relish in her victory, hoping Ravenstar would see how well she had done. During this moment, Shybird got to her paws and flung her off, sending her to the side. She ran forward and pinned her down, biting into her neck. She could feel herself growing weaker with each passing moment but she refused to let go.
{ for Owlspots is on; Ravenstar is behind the group if you want to have your cat stop him! }

Dappleleaf and Stormscreech circled each other, neither daring to make the first move. The siblings had never shown any hostility towards each other; neither of them expected to ever end up in this situation. "Just stop this, Stormscreech," Dappleleaf hissed, a hint of desperation in her voice. She didn't want to attack her brother. "You can let us go and that'll be the end of it." "I can't do that and you know it," Stormscreech hissed, tail lashing behind him. However, there was a sadness in his eyes. They continued their staring matching for a moment long before the siblings lunged at each other. The two wrestled in a flurry of fur, teeth, and claws. Neither of them were about to give up. Dappleleaf maneuvered herself onto her brother's back, digging her claws into his shoulders. She grabbed him by the scruff and reared up, pulling the tom upwards, then threw him forward onto his back. The tortoiseshell lunged and pinned her brother, then began to claw at his belly. Stormscreech yowled and kicked his sister back, doing his best to rise to his paws as blood dripped down his body.

Following Fawnstep into the territory, Hickorypaw felt better once he was outside of the cave. He breathed a deep lungful of fresh air, a faint chilly nip still present this high in the mountains. At Leopardpaw's words, the tom let out a purr and rolled his pale eyes. "Oh, it's on." He replied, the tone in his voice making it sound like a guarantee. When the other apprentice took off, Hickorypaw was right on his heels, bounding off towards Fawnleap right behind him. "Wanna place bets, Fawnleap? Who d'ya think will win?" He asked, shooting a smug look over at Leopardpaw.

Shybird finally released, staggering backwards as she did so. Her vision was blurring now, only seeing a mixture of greens, white, and red. She hoped she had taken out the warrior but she wasn't sure. She turned to head back to the group, limping slightly, when Snowthrush grasped at her back paw and sent her down on the ground. Shybird hissed and twisted her body around, raking her claws across the she-cats muzzle. Snowthrush let out a yowl of pain and retreated a bit, panting. She stared down at the fallen she-cat, wondering when she would get back up. Shybird remained still, not enough energy within her to move. She had her eyes open but it felt like the ground beneath her was disappearing and a second cat was standing beside Snowthrush, it's pelt shimmering with stars. Starclan? No, not yet! She thought, struggling to her paws.
"You will not hurt another cat." She brought herself on top of the she-cat once again, scraping her claws repeatedly along her sides. She took a deep breath and stayed there, hoping the rest of the cats were safe.

"Bets against apprentices?" She laughed at the thought, she had never heard such a thing. "Maybe one day, though today I think I'll pass. You two can make your own bets and I'll pick a winner for you." She purred, stepping down onto the grass below. She looked up to them and raised her head. "I also need to watch you guys and make sure neither of you run off on your own." She still wasn't sure how she could watch two apprentices at once, maybe she had made the wrong choice? It didn't matter now, they were already down here.

Shybird heard something in the faint distance but she couldn't lift her head to look. The body beneath was growing limp and she let out an exhale, relieved to know it was over. "Who's there?" She asked, her eyes falling onto a blurry figure not too far off. She tried to get up but it was as though her muscles were too weak to even move. She could still the other cat, staring at her with calm unblinking eyes. It was taking a step towards her and she let out a low growl, not realizing what was going on.

Fawnstep stood back, watching them for a few moments. "Be safe. I don't want to go retrieving one of you." She laughed, stepping back now for them to be able to get into the forest in a straight line. She felt a bit more at ease when Leopardpaw said they would stay together, at least she wouldn't have to worry about that. Unless they're lying. She prepared herself to follow them, making sure she would take the back of the group.

"Hey, you're the one that wanted to make it a game!" Hickorypaw teased Fawnleap, looking between her and Leopardpaw. The tom's faced twitched into a mischievous smile at Leopardpaw's "we'll stick together" comment. We'll see about that..Why was Fawnleap so worried, anyway? Hickorypaw thought the two could handle themselves. After all, they were both 10 moons. "We'll be fine!" He reassured Fawnleap before turning his attention to Leopardpaw and calling out "Always ready!" before charging off full speed towards the forest, picking his way down the mountain and sending rocks cascading in his wake.

Shybird scoffed at what she said, trying to muster up a bit of strength. "Dappleleaf, you have to leave me. If you don't, you won't make it across. We came back for you guys and I want you to go across that water by yourself." She struggled, trying to get out of her grip as her eyelids began to feel heavy. She had done something brave for once, that was good enough for her. She didn't want to risk the life of anyone else for the sake of her own. She could feel herself slipping into a deep 'slumber' now, laying limp against the ground.
Snaketooth saw a few figures across the water and gestured for Ashpelt to come closer.
{I think after Dappleleaf gets across our big baddy will show up and we can leave it there for Owlspots ^^ }

{It's Fawnstep btw ^^ }
Fawnstep groaned, wishing she had someone to help her. She was only really close to Snaketooth, though I had made plans with Shadefang before she took off. She went after the apprentices, calling out to them "Ten moons or not! You're both still younger than me so listen to me!" She broke out in a bit of laughter at the end, strolling at a leisure pace as she kept her eyes open for the cats.

"What happened?" He asked, noting it was only her now. Where was Snowclaw? Shybird? He jerked his head to the river, looking to the other side for some kind of sign they were there. He saw none and his heart dropped in his chest, they would still have to wait for Snowclaw but how could they have lost Shybird in the mess? Was she still on her way?

The tom growled as he made his way closer to the river, noting there was a fallen cat on the side. It didn't look like any of Fogstar's warriors that left with him. He bent down to sniff it, it still carried the scent of the clan though. He hissed and shoved the body aside, nearly knocking it into the river. He raised his head as he saw the other cats across there. "Ashpelt! You coward!" He yowled, preparing to launch himself in the stream. "Sneaking out my warriors in the middle of the night? You will all pay!"
{Now we play the waiting game, if you want Dappleleaf can still answer Snaketooth and this can happen in the middle of it lol }

[ i keep trying to catch myself messing up her name, i'm sorry ugh ^^' ]
"Keep up!" Hickorypaw called, letting out a laugh as he raced next to Leopardpaw for a moment before the other apprentice veered off to a fallen tree. He skidded to a stop and looked over at Leopardpaw as he began collecting moss, the tom haven forgotten altogether for a moment that that was what they had originally set out to do. Whiskers twitching, he looked around for moss among the trees, spotting some growing among the roots of a cluster and beginning to claw it off in strips. When he heard Fawnstep call out, he popped his head up and saw her approaching the two a ways back. "Sorry!" He quipped before dropping his head and continuing his work, rolling the strips up into a large ball and pressing it down to compact it with both his front paws.

Fawnstep hopped on a rock and licked her paws, bringing her paw over her ear. She decided for now, she would just relax. She would, however, help them hunt later when she had made up her mind on where to go. She looked up to check on the apprentices, noting how quickly they were collecting bedding. Maybe we should bring that back first. We could ask Cloudsplash what she'd like to eat and try to hunt it...I could make it into a game! She puffed out her chest when she came to that conclusion, rather proud of herself.
{ If everyone is okay with it, I've been thinking of reasons why Ashpelt wasn't chosen for deputy instead because I picture Fogstar as a smart cat. And I have an idea in my head why, so I might incorporate that when we get further into the plot. }

Seedpaw mewed a merry greeting to Waterfur as she entered, dipping her head to the older she-cat. "She was just a little worried about us, and where we're going," she informed Owltuft as she turned to her mentor, "but, uh - where are we going, exactly?" She wasted no time lapping up the herbs she needed to take for the journey, no longer having to stick out her tongue in disgust as the pungent tastes overwhelmed her taste buds - she was used to them by now. Owltuft nodded, understanding the young queen's concern."Cloudsplash will do just fine every she-cat has their instincts to rely on." His eyes lit up when asked where they were heading."Well Seedpaw we are going straight up into the mountains so I hope you are not scared of heights. While waiting for Seedpaw to finish eating her herbs. He took the time to scarf down some Burnet leaves. Owltuft frowned at the bitter taste giving his head a quick shake. He rose to his paws,"Let's us go now while we still have light."

(Snowclaw took Frostflower a little ways away from camp to talk to her, so he heads straight back to the river. Ravenstar look out there's a big angry boi on the way)
"You're just a coward, Snowclaw!" Frostflower's words tore a hole in Snowclaw's heart, and for the first time in their argument he had found himself speechless. "Fogstar left you behind last time, what makes you think he won't do it again? You're blinded by your loyalty to friends who were perfectly fine with leaving you behind, and you're abandoning your family in the process," Frostflower spat, her hackles raised, and Snowclaw only watched in despair as his daughter unsheathed her claws and began to advance towards him. Snowclaw had been about to open his mouth to plead with her when he heard the screeching from the camp, and he whirled around. Frostflower continued to spit fury behind him, but his ears strained to pick up the sounds of pain he could've sworn he just heard, and her voice faded into the background. "Why can't you just accept that Ravenstar is our leader now, and that Fogstar is a traitor? Why do you insist on betraying us time and time again?" There it was again. Or, at least he thought it was at first; no, this was a different cat. A cat he knew far too well. "Ravenstar, that fox-hearted villain," he hissed under his breath, unsheathing his own claws now. He whirled on Frostflower, his eyes blazing. "Then stay! Stay here, under that maniac's rule, and have your kits die the same way Brambleflower's did, at the claws of warriors who should have taken care of them," he spat, voice laced with venom, "but I will not leave my friends to die at the paws of Ravenstar." His heart broke as soon as the words left his mouth and Frostflower's blue eyes widened in horror. She took a step back, her ears pinned flat to her head, and ran from him as though he were the monster. StarClan, I'm so sorry, please let me take it back, he cried inwardly, his heart aching with despair and guilt. But she was gone.
And he had a promise to fulfill.
