Given everything we know now, how do you feel about Bramblestar's and Rowanstar's decision to separate them? Do you think it was worth it in the end, and what do you think would've happened had the kits been kept together (be it in ThunderClan or ShadowClan)?
Alternatively, what if for some crazy reason the Clans had gone with Onestar's plan for them instead?

Better they just agree to it vs having a battle between ThunderClan and ShadowClan over who has the rights to the kits.

I think it had more to do with looks and keeping good graces at this point. If both were indeed cats of prophecy, then they went above importance to all clans. And I don’t think either leader wanted a big war, but it’s doubtful Shadowclan would respect Rowanstar if he seemed a pushover to Thunderclan. It’a sad, but I see why they did it.

I still hate both Rowan and Bramble for it, it was never worth it, and if they were kept together both would have much happier lives

I've always hated when Twigkit and Violetkit were separated. It wasn't even worth it.

He knows how it feels to be separated by his sibling! Yet he's agreeing to this blasted separation as if they're both prizes the Clans have earned. But at the same time, Violetshine is very well-written because of it. But I'm still mad at both Rowan and Bramble for this. Needle didn't do anything to "earn" her kit.

I hate the fact that Needlepaw got rewarded for literally running away. Rowanstar should've stayed out of it for that simple fact.

If they seriously 'needed' (Wanted) prophecy cats spread across the Clans, they should of allowed the sisters to make the diction themselves when they were apprentices.
However, even that logic is flawed. Because surely the prophecy would more easily be fulfilled by the chosen cats living together? It would of seriously been hard for the Three to function if any of the brothers were in Windclan.

If anything, this makes it worse for me, because however much it hurt Bramblestar, Tawnypelt went to ShC willingly. When LiC and TiC met at Fourtrees, Tawnypelt just looked uncomfortable when Bramblestar called her name and all the attention went to her. Even when he begged her to come back, she made no move to return, nor has she ever shown any doubt about staying in ShC (...no matter how dumb that is, but to each his own lol) after she made her decision. Plus, he still had Goldenflower, and was determined to stay where he was, and didn't falter or ever consider changing Clans. Both of them were more than old enough to make their individual choices. That is absolutely not the case for Violetshine or Twigbranch. They did not want to be separated. They were orphans and only had each other, not to mention were heartrendingly young when they were forced apart with little to no support systems. Their case is that much more heart-wrenching than Bramblestar and Tawnypelt's, imo. The circumstances are so much worse and it's disgusting that he (hell, or even Tawnypelt! I feel she could've spoken up or gotten to know Violetshine better in ShC...god knows she would've been a better influence than Needletail) didn't recognize that. Instead, Bramblestar agreed.

Speaking of Bramblestar and Tawnypelt, I feel like it was a giant missed opportunity that Twigbranch and Violetshine didn't have any sort of relationship with them when they were younger. I also would've liked to have seen Twigbranch comforting Ivypool after Dovewing leaves, but that never came to be either.
I'm not even surprised either, but that doesn't mean I can't still be disappointed.

It's still a decision that makes me dislike both of them tbh, well at least Rowan to a degree. I find him to be a much more likable character than the incompetent leader that is Bramblestar.

I just thought the same thing when I saw your thread, Moth! So many possible parallels were right there and obvious in AVOS, but we didn't get them.
While we know that Firestar's initial intentions to mentor Bramblestar weren't all that great, he eventually became a sort of father figure, and someone Bramblestar respected. He and Firestar had a good relationship in FsQ, too. So Bramblestar doing the same for Twigbranch would've been nice. Tawnypelt's own life in ShC is relatively unknown (except how she still get taunts about her "ThC blood" ugh...wtf), but her becoming a bigger sister almost to Violetshine could've been good to read about, since she no longer had a younger sibling in the same Clan.
I would've liked if Tawnypelt tried to be a good influence on Violetshine, but Needletail kept shouldering in. Since she's the one who found Violetshine, perhaps Violetshine would be torn, because on one paw, Needletail found her. On the other, though, Tawnypelt knows more about how Violetshine probably feels being away from her sibling, even if the circumstances are different. Even having Tawnypelt bring it up and admit she came to ShC willingly and left ThC behind could inflict interesting feelings on Violetshine, who used to want to do literally anything to be with her sister again and wish she was back in ThC with Twigbranch and Lilyheart. In the end, Violetshine would've had at least one other supporter in ShC, which would make it sadder later when she decides to stay behind in ShC with Needletail and Darktail. It would be a sort of "final decision" she made and we realize she picked Needletail over Tawnypelt, even though she was close to both. Then Violetshine's guilt later with Rowanstar giving up his leadership, Tigerheart disappearing, ShC falling apart and becoming part of SkC, etc. could be tenfold, since Tawnypelt is really struggling. Now Violetshine would be the "stable" (interesting word to use there lol) one and Tawnypelt is struggling in the wind, in a Clan she didn't want to be part of, but was forced to. It even would've been understanding if Tawnypelt was upset with Violetshine, who technically had a part to play in Darktail's rise.
Gaah. We had so many good relationships that could've happened!

I would have loved for Bramblestar to mentor Twigpaw and for Rowanstar to mentor Violetpaw tbh.
