Like it really annoyed me....
We already had two and now theres a third? And why? because he was too bad at being a warrior? Come on thats a lame reason.... it devalues being a med cat (as if the books hadnt done that enough)

I've gotten over it at this point tbh.

I don't really think about it one way or the other, but I do think his reasoning for becoming a medicine cat was weak. The plot would have barely changed if Alderheart had been a warrior. It seems like the Erins only made him a medicine cat so that he could have a connection to StarClan to lead Alderheart to go find SkyClan. I guess they forgot you don't have to be a medicine cat to recieve prophetic dreams and visions. Firestar and Bramblestar, two of Alderheart's relatives, hello?
Over all, I'm tired of the "forced to be a medicine cat" thing. I'm just glad they didn't injure him and force him into the role based on thaf.

I wouldn't mind it as much if Leafpool was dead

He is one just because this series plot only advances if it have a prophecy.

I don't like cats who are forced to be medicine cats. It's a very necessary, important and impactful position in the clan and the cats who do it should want it, should fully embrace it, should appreciate it. ThunderClan has three medicine cats and two of them would rather be somewhere else if they could.

I wouldn't have minded it if Alderheart had genuinely wanted to be a medicine cat, but forced medicine cats are ridiculous. Leafpool is literally the only one who wants to be a medicine cat, and even then, there was a point she was willing to give it up.
Though, I see why it's not a super desirable position considering you can't have a mate, can't have kits, etc, etc.

I would've preferred it if Alderheart genuinely wanted to be a medicine cat. At this point I don't care, but I really don't want to see any more forced medicine cats. Why can't we instead have a flip where a cat wants to be a medicine cat but is forced to be a warrior? At this point it's way better than repeating the meddie cat pattern again.

At first, yeah. I mean, he could have used more training to be good at hunting and fighting instead of being forced into the medicine cat role.

Medicine cats are basically the clan equivalent of janitors or garbagemen. Sure, they're necessary for the clan in a big way, but if you think anyone actually goes out of their way to want such a job when it means no more fighting and far less hunting, then one needs to adjust their expectations.

I think it would've done well for his character arc to stay a warrior apprentice/become a warrior. What I mean by that is that I see a much better lesson in having the main character be bad at something and eventually - after lots of training - become a bit better (he doesn't need to get a very skilled at hunting or fighting but enough to eventually earn his warrior name)

Meh. I'm over it, I'm just tired of medicine cat pov's every series. It doesn't help that Alder is written less exciting than a plastic bag in the wind. The only interesting relevance he's had was handling romance better than any of the previous medicine cats, comparable to Cinder.
