After the first series names the names for cats did get a bit weird. I know that some people rage about the newer names and make fun of them. I however, don't really mind and think they're cute and cool like sneezekit, twigbranch, and finleap. What weird names do you guys like and/or dislike?

I like a lot of names that people dislike :3
Strange ones like Havenpelt, and I like Shimmerpelt. Shimmer- is such a pretty prefix, why do people think that names weird? Sneezekit is adorable. Ones like Bouncefire too I like. Pouncekit is the best, Thriftkit and Flipkit I actually quite like.

Honestly, in my opinion the first series had some weird/dumb names too. Runningnose, Barkface, and Runningwind(imo) are kinda weird/dumb. I really like Twigbranch, Flipkit, Thriftkit, Pouncekit, Lightkit, Spiresight, Whitewater, Bouncefire, Sneezecloud, and Havenpelt.

To be fair, the first arc also had their fair share of weird names as well. That said, I agree that they do keep on getting stranger as the series goes on.

I like the new names (except Twigbranch). Firestar also gave some interesting warrior names like Poppyfrost and Honeyfern.

Apart from a few exceptions I really don't care how "weird" some names are. As long as it's a new name and not a 10th or whatever Robinwing I don't mind if they try out new Pre-/Suffixes (and also: bonus points if the suffix relates to physical traits, their personality and/or something they've done. Names with deeper meaning are always nice
except Twigbranch. wtf was that)

I LOVE Fidgetflake, Snowbush, and Havenpelt. I think Fidgetflake and Snowbush sound really cute, and that Havenpelt sounds really pretty.

Mistmouse isn't that bad imo. It reminds me of a smaller cat.

No name can get worse than Fidgetflake. Hands down.
Other than that I'm neutral on most names

I remember people used to shit all over Dovewing's name because of their biased hatred for her. Always thought her name was fine.
I think that Fidgetflake is okay too. It's not that bad.

Personally speaking I really hate/dislike most of the new names. They either leave a negative mental image in my head(Fidgetflake), are very clunky and the prefix and suffix simply don't work together for me(Ambermoon) or are just too weird/repetitive(Twigbranch).
Honestly there did seem to be at least a semi-consistent naming system for the first threeish or so arcs(At least in my opinion). Prefixes tended to describe a kits' appearance unless changed later in life. Meanwhile, suffixes seemed to start out having meanings with warriors earning then based off their different charastics. For example -heart cats tended to be noble, kind-hearted and brave while -flower cats were motherly/fatherly, nurturing and extremely caring. Applying this to the actual books I'll use Leafpool and Lionblaze as examples. Leafpool's name fits her due to the calm and balanced personality we were shown. Meanwhile Lionblaze's name fits because he's very tough and strong like a blazing fire.
Now it feels like, at least in my opinion, names have no meaning and they're given because they sound cool. They're given for the sake of naming a character instead of looking at their qualities and seeing what could fit. Sparkpelt, from what I vaguely remember, was energetic and a bit wild at times. Sparkstotm would've been perfect for her. Or, eventhough it is repetitive, Sparkfire also could've worked. Meanwhile Alderheart's name isn't a terrible fit, but Alderflower has always struck me as the better naming choice. He was shown to be very fatherly and caring towards Twig and Violet and it could've been a nice nod to Goldenflower.
I'm probably overthinking this and it wouldn't surprise me if I'm off mark on my point. However there does seem to be a difference in character names in the past compared to now. Even in OotS names at least made a little bit of sense for the characters. Probably also has to do with the new editors because a majority if my complaints in terms of names has come from the newest arc.
