As a person who’s not really liked Jayfeather- I’m interested to see what other people think.

I mainly like him because of the following reasons:
-I enjoy writing and reading grumpy assholes in stories (complete bias) -Having a blind cat in the Warriors world that was born that way is interesting but I really wish he'd stayed a warrior apprentice because so much potential could've been done with that. -He's a complex character in the series, which is way better than most main characters in Warriors. -He was the only tolerable POV in OotS besides Dovewing, and actually did something useful out of all four POVs.
Tbh I just feel like he should've been handled better. That crap with Half Moon was utter bull and I blame it on crappy writing decisions/idiot fans who wanted more forbidden romance. No offence, but that's just how I feel.

I have left the chat.

When it comes to main characters I’m terrible but with background characters I know more. And I have no idea about Jayfeather + his siblings.

And I have no idea about Jayfeather + his siblings. I remember Hazeltail, Foxleap, Icecloud, and Toadstep more than Brambleclaw/star or Leafpool, so I guess it's easier to remember the minor character knowledge than the main character knowledge. The only thing I remember Leafpool doing in TNP was running away from the Clans with Crowfeather and then returning. Eh most of the background characters in the series are most often than not better than the main characters tbh

Jayfeather is a lovable asshole who is satisfying to read about. He's probably one of the best written characters, and the only consistent one that the writers haven't screwed up yet. He's caring, extremely loyal, blunt, smart, stands up for himself about what's right, even against StarClan. But he has positive traits too, like having a lot of compassion for others, and puts his Clanmates before himself. He's been shown to act gentle with Half Moon, revealing his softer side.
He's not abusive like fans say, which is utter bullshit if you ask me. It's called tough love. There were times when he praised Alderheart, giving him confidence about himself. He's even proud of him.
Jayfeather is one of those rare well developed characters who grew up from acting like a brat and matured a lot.
He's the only medicine cat apart from Featherwhisker and Cinderpelt who hasn't broken the code, and I've always found him enjoyable to read about. He grew up and accepted his fate as a medicine cat. I love this guy.

I’m not a fan of him. He’s not loveable. He’s just a plain jerk honestly. There’s nothing cutesy about his constant pessimism and nasty attitude especially towards kits and apprentices and especially towards Brightheart. He’s annoying too. And JayHalf is quite possibly the dumbest side plot/pairing I have ever read in my life. He’s not horrible, but he gets on my nerves quite alot.

Idk anymore tbh. He used to be one of my faves at first, but that was before I actually read the books/his PoV. Now I'm not fond of his nasty attitude and rudeness at all. Even before he was forced to be a Med. Cat he was grumpy and all that towards Brightheart, I'd be more forgiving on that aspect of him if it was more apparent after he was made a Med. Cat because being forced to give up his ambition to be a Warrior sucks ass and I'd understand if he became much more grumpy AFTER Spottedbitch forced him to because that poor as frick "DESTINY!!!11!" excuse, but he's like that all the time so... *shrugs*.
Him being interesting in that he was a grumpy cat we've had a PoV for first still is soured for me by how bad that can get. Outside his PoV doesn't help. Maybe he isn't abusive towards Alder (And believe me I prefer not to throw the "abuse" coin around so often) but he isn't exactly the best match for him either due to his lack of patience and what not compared to Leafpool, and his harsher personality isn't great for a worrier like Alderheart. He isn't a horrible character, but he's just... not pleasant for me.
Also JayHalf is stupid and I hate it and always will.

I guess some fans have a thing for nasty/bitchy characters. I'm not one of them. Jayfeather has always been annoying to me.

I don't really ship Little x Cinder though. They're best friends, imo, not romantic.

I like him because he's a interesting character and grew into a great character, he did a lot of things than the other two cats who had powers and I like his tough love and when he actually shows his soft side it's sweet and you know that he means it. I also liked reading from his p.o.v cause it kept me hooked in the books besides Ivypool's. Some of the mean things he said were funny to me imo some people might had found it harsh or annoying, but it just depends on the person and how they view it.

I find it interesting that we list JayHalf as a reason for disliking Jayfeather. Isn't that disliking someone based on their birth? Haha. But seriously, modern Jay can't control the Jays Wing in him anymore than he can control being drawn to the Stick.
We like Jayfeather as a cat because he really stands out in a Clan that tends to breed kind, sympathetic protagonists. Jayfeather is not that. It's a breath of fresh air.
