i get that this seems to be a tired topic, repeatedly explained, but there's a facet of it that still bothers me: if warriors artwork is not allowed on copyright grounds, will there be similar policing of other artwork? the avatars most people use are not original and often aren't used with permission of the original artist (granted, i'm guilty of this with my current icon, since it's hard to let go of just yet), and i admit that i worry for the banners used in rps and the like. especially since people confuse credit for permission; not all artists approve of their work used elsewhere, even with credit back to them, often for legal reasons.
basically, where is the line drawn with art? at what point is warriors art edited enough to be used, if at all? how will this be monitored? what about non-warriors art?
art theft just bothers me, whether it's photos/fic/digital art/traditional art, and it feels like a rather hazy subject right now. some solid clarification would be nice.

With Warriors Art, we do not want to run into and copyright or legal issues like you've mentioned; I'd drawn the line at the point where we DO NOT allow it AT ALL for we don't want this place to get caught up in legal issues we don't need.
When it comes to other art, say.. a something from an anime, I'd say it's allowed. I haven't seen any legal nor copyright issues across forums & websites I've frequented. I call it safe to use these knowing that they probably won't come after us with pitchforks.
Know that we JUST left the WCF behind and that using the artwork made by the artists is touchy. We don't have any permission from people like Wayne Mcloughlin nor Harper Collins. The Mods themselves know we remade a place like this, but it is FAN MADE now, not by HC. This can leave a string of problems if we use Warrior's Artwork since we have: no permission, no legal license, and there's copyrights on the artwork.
We'll be monitoring the artwork, so if I, for example, see official warrior's artwork, I will be taking it down due to the reasons I've listed above and on other threads. It's something we need to watch for and remove asap.
Regarding non-warrior's artwork, if you're doing graphics-- stick to stock images. It's safe and the licenses for most sites allow use across forums, projects, etc. You just have to read the license first and know that the terms and conditions are ones you must follow.
I really hope this isn't too confusing && helped you out. Let me know if you need a further explanation.
I'm thinking I'll make a thread to warn everyone of this as people aren't really sure about it or aren't seeing the posts. Whatever it may be, I'll create a thread.

A question relating to this. Would it be possible we could have a topic where it lists free stock images that we may use? This way it'll be easier for those who are just getting their feet wet in the world of stock know what to use and won't have issues with trying to figure out what is free as well.
