I promised myself I wouldn’t do too many roleplays so close to my exams but I got really inspired and I kinda had to do this.
So I was thinking about the Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew and I thought it might be an interesting basis for a plot.
I think the premise would work better in a historical setting but we can make it modern if you’d prefer. If it’s a historical setting, mxf pairing is more accurate but if we make it modern gender pairings can be anything you like. As for which historical setting, doesn’t hugely matter but I’d suggest either the Victorian period or a period previous to it. Also, quick note: please don’t be frightened off because I suggested historical; I’m not going to stress about historical accuracy.
But basically... rebellious, independent, probably slightly rude young woman with a very rich father. She keeps chasing off her suitors. A boy also from a rich/well-known family but maybe he got cut off, spent his inheritance, whatever. Either way, he’s pretty broke and the father is trying to marry his oldest daughter off because he won’t let his younger daughter marry until the elder is married. So he’s got a pretty big dowry set for his daughter that this guy is pretty interested in.
I think I’d prefer to be the girl but honestly if you wanna be the girl I’d be okay. I would like my partner to be able to do at least 10 lines of roleplay per post. I would like you to be active if you can but honestly once exams roll around I won’t be active either so I’m not too worried about that.
Anyone interested?

OOC:I mean it's been a long time since I've roleplayed, so I don't know how I'll handle 10 lines per post, but I'm willing to attempt if you're okay with that; I'll play the male.

OOC:Either works for me, if you had a form in mind. If not, I'm fine with just describing it via roleplay.

Okay well describing in roleplay is fine by me.
What kind of setting were you thinking? Would you prefer modern and historical? Also, what kind of ages would you prefer our characters to be?)

OOC:I'm not good at settings honestly . But I'm thinking late teens to early twenties range of ages, maybe that's just because that's where I fall. Historical time period though for sure, I wouldn't feel right doing Shakespeare modernly. *cough* New age Romeo and Juliet movies *cough*

(Okay that all sounds good to me x
I’m totally there with you on preferring historical for Shakespeare. In which case, the Tudor period is probably ideal since that’s when he wrote. Or else Victorian would go just as well)

OOC:Okay awesome, the Tudor period is a bit closer to the setting of the comedy in terms of time frame. So maybe go with that? But I suppose my first question would be how are we starting the story?

(Yeah, I believe it’s actually set in the early Renaissance but I think the basic plot concepts slot quite well into the Tudor period.
Well, I wasn’t sure either. Would you like them to have met prior to him looking for her hand in marriage? If not, we could start with him having found out about the dowry and he’s heading to meet her just as she’s rejecting another suitor or causing some sort of general mayhem)

[Also I've decided this is what she looks like. I'm not gonna do a full form but I just wanted to do this. ]
