Nightmare gave a flick of her ear, “If that is what I must do, then there is no other choice.” She said, knowing that Revy had a point. If she wanted to lead one day, then she was going to have to find a way around this peculiar weakness of hers. “It’s frustrating having to limit myself during the day, but I’ll find a way around it.”

If she wanted to lead one day, then she was going to have to find a way around this peculiar weakness of hers. “It’s frustrating having to limit myself during the day, but I’ll find a way around it.” "When you've got the mind for any problem, then no weakness will befall you." Revy reminded, tracing his claws along the concrete of the building's roof, before he glanced pointedly at Nightmare. "In this position, there is no weakness. Ever. At least, not to the general group. To me, perhaps you can show it, but. That's if I'm in a kind mood." He snickered.

Captain sat with his paws tucked beneath him on the sheltered porch of his house, watching the rain fall on the garden. His light green eyes were half-closed as he sat, his thick gray-and-white coat twitching where stray raindrops landed on it.
---
Magnolia stretched as she emerged from her carrier, eyeing the pretty blue ribbon attached to it with a satisfied purr. She rubbed against her housefolk's legs, arching her back into her naked paw as she stroked along Magnolia's spine. They'd just arrived home from another show, and judging by her housefolk's bared teeth, she'd done well.

"Oh Captain my Captain~" A warm voice called from the fenceline, where Fiona had leaped up to greet the house-cat. The loner looked down at the garden, shaking rain from her fur. "It's roight rainy outside, yeah? Lookin' out at the garden, are we?" She teased. She had come from the city again to visit Indigo and his kits again, and now she wanted to say hello to all her friends from the twolegplace nestled between the forest and the city. Captain was fun, kind of like Grizzley had been, all those moons ago. She missed him, like she missed all the cats that were lost out here.

Captain's eyes opened fully again at Fiona's greeting, grunting as the older tom heaved himself to his paws. "Hello, Fiona," he called out. "I'd rather be looking than get soaked like you! Get over here and dry off."
The plump housecat yawned hugely. His housefolk had never let him outside at their old homes, but here he was free to come outside and relax in his garden. As he'd gotten older, he felt little need to leave his patch of the world, and he was fine with it.

I like the sound of rain.” Fiona argued playfully, though she quickly accepted Captain’s invitation and jumped down into the garden to pad towards the twoleg nest. Shaking her fur dry on the porch, she purred. “You look like you’s has eaten a whole pumpkin! Plump thing.” She teased, poking his belly with her paw.

He batted her paw away, flattening his ears. "And you look scrawnier than those wild cats." he retorted. "You must be starving half to death out there. Do you want food? My housefolk's just put down some kibble, and you know she likes you."

My housefolk's just put down some kibble, and you know she likes you." “I usually prefer a fat mouse, but if yer offerin’, I won’t say no.” Fiona purred, more than happy to get such easy food, as odd as the texture was when it came to the pellets that Twolegs made for them. She flicked an ear. “Suki had her kits. I’m a grandmother… again!” She boasted, though by now she had so many kits and grandkits that it was hard to count them all.

Captain rolled his eyes, flicking his tail and going back into his den through the open glass door. "Congratulations, I guess. I'm glad I'll never - wipe your paws!" he hissed. "I'm glad I'll never have to plan a reunion for you and your kin."
He padded across the hard floor of the food room, meowing up at one of his housefolk where she was sat sipping on something. "Hey! Fiona's here, and she's wretchedly skinny. I suppose we ought to feed her."
His housefolk looked down, baring her straight teeth and making high-pitched cooing sounds in a show of friendliness before moving to rummage around for a moment. When she returned, she set another shallow dish with kibble in it on the floor beside Captain's own, giving each cat a gentle pat between the ears before sitting again.

“Sheesh! I forgot how uptight you’s gets when I visit! Here!” Fiona cackled, making a show of wiping her paws, before she made a dive right for the food the moment it was offered to her. She accepted the twoleg’s affections, buttering up to them to try and get more food if she could.
“Ohhh. You trained yer furless’ real good, did ya?” She purred to Captain. “They’re real friendly!”

Pandora lounged on a wooden fence, grooming her fur after a successful hunt. Her tail flicked back and forth lazily as she wondered what she should do for the day.
Zarina was wandering around the city, having grown bored with the outskirts of the twolegplace. It had been awhile since she had last been this deep into the city, perhaps she would be able to find some adventure for once.
Nightmare sat in a dark corner of the factory, her eyes narrowed as she watched the activity around the camp. Her ear flicked as she thought back to the recent conversation that she had with Revy, feeling a shiver go through her at the memory of the many lights of the city shining below her from where they had been perched.

Shadow, nearly invisible in the darkness of the factory, slipped over towards Nightmare, his eyes the only thing visible in the darkness. Even so, his soft voice rasped near his sister. "I saw you go out with Revy yesterday. Did you see anything out there? There's a whole lot to see at night, yes?" He asked, similar to her in that he preferred to go out at night.

Nightmare nodded in agreement, “Yes. Revy took me to one of the skynests. The lights looked like hundreds of stars.” She mewed, her red eyes gleaming at the memory. “I want to explore more of it once I have the chance.”

"She's the best," he said through his mouthful; it was common knowledge how fiercely loyal the tom was to his housefolk. "I'm picky with my company, so she knows if I bring a friend then that means they're a good cat. And it's the least I can do to make sure they keep mud out of the nest!" he added with a pointed look. He munched some more before sitting back, swiping his tongue around his lips. "The other one isn't here right now, but you oughta meet him too. He'll pet you for ages and ages if you let him!"

"Top of the skynest?" Shadow asked, before giving a small smile. "I climbed one for the first time the other night... I snuck out, again. It was perfect, wasn't it? You'll just have to come exploring with me tonight. Would you like to?" He offered, hoping that Nightmare would join him in his nightly adventures. He likes seeing the world, having long moments to himself to think.
---
Fiona looked at Captain with a small giggle. "Oh, yer tempting me, but. I can't get pet too much, my kits get roight hissy when I smell too much like furless. But, I appreciate the hospitality. I actually wanted to ask ya... have you seen Sparrow about around here? Bloom's worried sick bout' him, and even Indigo and Suki are wonderin' where he went off to. He's such a young cat, ya know? I'd hate to know somethin' nabbed him already." She asked, wanting to know if the kittypet knew anything about Sparrow's disappearance.

"Hmm..." Captain licked a forepaw, drawing it over his ear. "I'm not sure I've seen him, but I heard a commotion just recently, over the fence. It was some of those wild cats!" he said, his eyes going round as he hissed the last words. "They were in a whole group, and there was little black-furred one that was all beat up! A huge blue wild cat put her right on her back and walked away!"
He shrugged, his fur flattening again. "I didn't see much else though. It was dinner time, so I came home."

I didn't hear about no black or blue cat the other day. What was a whole group of forest cats doing here?" She flicked her eyes side to side. "They best avoid the city... I reckon lots of the group there don't like forest cats much." She admitted.

Nightmare’s ear flicked in curiosity at Shadow’s suggestion, turning her gaze towards her brother, “Won’t father get upset if we sneak out?” She asked. Nightmare did want to see more of the city, but she had seen what happens when Axel got upset. She certainly didn’t want to be on the receiving end of his anger.

Nightmare did want to see more of the city, but she had seen what happens when Axel got upset. She certainly didn’t want to be on the receiving end of his anger. "Mm. He only gets upset if cats leave forever, not for a small while." Shadow assured, knowing that Axel had seen him slip out into the night once or twice, but had never forced him to return. He knew that his father knew that Shadow had no allegiance to anyone beside him, and the Night Strikers. This was his home after all, and he was respected just for being the son of the leader. That had its perks. "You aren't leaving forever, are you? Not when you're clearly special." He teased, though he was referring to Revy's interest in her above the rest of them. Not that Shadow cared, he detested the idea of leadership or extra attention.

“Of course not. Why would I leave?” Nightmare said with a scoff, her tail lashing at the very idea, “And I’m nothing special. Don’t know what gave you that idea.” She added with a grumble, turning her gaze back to look out into the factory.

Broken glass made the opening glitter in the sun. “That’s when we can go. For now, Azalea says she’s teaching us some battle moves. Maybe this time, you can give Rocco a run for his prey.” He humored. Across the factory, Azalea was sitting beside Farland, the two powerful Strike Patrollers looking over the younger members of the gang. Rocco was already practicing his swipes, energy radiating from him like sunlight. Beside him, Harlow was working hard to catch up to the older tom, her eyes burning with determination.

Serena — Watching the World Go By
Soft paws took delicate steps along the brick wall fences of the Twolegplace, confident in their placement. The paws belonged to a blue-grey she-cat, dotted with small cream patches across her pelt. Her dark green eyes, although hooded, looked out on the world around her with a gentle gaze, full of appreciation for the sights and sounds of her home. Conversations among cats drifted in the air, and the housefolk were busy tending to their kittypets. The cat continued her little trek until she reached the edge of the fence, deciding to take a seat for a while.
This was Serena, a loner who wandered the Twolegplace. Today, she was planning on going for a good, long hunt in the woodland areas, taking care not to cause trouble. But first, a moment of zen...
Provided no cat disrupted it, of course.

Captain snorted, rolling his eyes as he rubbed against his housefolk's leg, earing some scratching behind his ears for a moment. Satisfied, he padded back out to the porch.
"Sure, but that was ages ago. I was a younger tom then," he mewed, sitting down and looking at the treetops that showed over the edge of his fence where it bordered the forest. "My housefolk and I live farther away then, and I wandered my way all the way over here. I was very adventurous in those days!" His eyes took on a far away look, as if he were remembering something. "There was a forest cat I met, and she helped me make my way back to the town. I doubt I'll see her again, but..."

Felix and Remi darted out of the abandoned twoleg nest with shrieks of laughter. The young kits tumbling through the the overgrown plants of their garden without a care in the world. Suki, their mother ducked out of the nest behind them. She padded calmly over to the brick wall that lined the property, their section now crumbling in disrepair, and hopped on top of it. Hoping for some time to sun while the kits played below. She blinked in surprise as she came face to face with a cat she'd never seen before. She gave the she-cat a nervous smile, her eyes flicking back down to her kits below. "Hello." she mewed cautiously.
