"And the strongest must pave the way." Waspstrike nodded in thought to Fluffcloud's words. "StarClan has blessed RiverClan over the others so you may lead the Clans into unity. Have you expressed these ideals to any of your clanmates yet? The senselessness of the battle over Sunningrocks is a way to begin opening their eyes. We may not approve of the battle over Sunningrocks, but we can use these events to show the Clans the errors in their separation."

It’s frustrating, it’s like they don’t have a determined bone in their body! We’re kin of cats who have changed the very foundations of entire clans!” Fluffcloud huffed, inwardly pained that she felt like she couldn’t depend on her sisters. She had always been the more ambitious one of her family. She flicked her tail. “But. I know that Foxripple has always thought battles like these were pointless. Orchidnight and I also talk sometimes about how things could change, how cats can be protected instead of sacrificed. Maybe I can talk with my kin in Thunderclan, next gathering.” She thought of Frostmoon, still feeling a twinge of sympathy for her cousin’s plight for losing to Fluffcloud’s father at Sunningrocks.

Hollowpaw did as Wrenflight told her to do, widening her stance and holding her tail as still as possible. She felt a thrill of excitement as the warrior instructed her, glad to finally be learning something for once. She waited for Wrenflight’s next instructions, trying to keep still as he spoke. “Natural. See? You’re able to follow instructions with ease. Thunderclan is ignoring the potential in front of them. But I certainly don’t.” Wrenflight nodded, before he sharpened once more. “The stronger your stance, the more sturdy you are against a strike. I’m going to strike at you now. The second I strike, I want you to take the hit, and strike back as fast as you can.” For you, Ice!)

Adderstar padded methodically through the woods. He passed by clearing where fresh apprentices trained with his followers. His eyes narrowed with pleasure at their progress. The charade their paraded was working perfectly. Adderstar followed a hollow path to the murky streams. Waspstrike should be working with two of their best students. Perhaps, we can start moving things along, Adderstar grinned.
Eelshock let out a hiss when his father pinned him to the ground again. "You're not getting it." Waspstrike hissed in frustration. "This is a standard SkyClan move. THe leap over and leg swipe. Except when you sweep the legs, you're leaving yourself open to being tackled. Fluffcloud!" Waspstrike snapped at the younger warrior. "Show him how it's done."

"This is a standard SkyClan move. THe leap over and leg swipe. Except when you sweep the legs, you're leaving yourself open to being tackled. Fluffcloud!" Waspstrike snapped at the younger warrior. "Show him how it's done." Fluffcloud didn't wait to be told twice, her focus as deep as it always was when she was able to train in the Dark Forest. The dark woods and rivers were not as scary as she was raised to believe. Sometimes, it was even peaceful to escape the bustling brightness of her sisters. Here, she felt like she was actually improving and showing her skills as a Warrior, and not as just the deputy's daughter. She bunched her legs and leaped, a residual trait of her mother and grandmother leaving the Skyclan blood flowing through her. While she was more heavy-set, it didn't inhibit her ability to land strongly, sweeping out with her large paws before ducking to the side, as though avoiding a retaliation. She stood up, confident in her abilities, but secretly hoping for praise. She had done it right, hadn't she?

"Better." Waspstrike nodded curtly to Fluffcloud before cuffing his son across the ear. "Now you do it on her. Don't screw up this time!"
Eelshock winced away from the cuff, but when Waspstrike let him get up, he shook out his pelt. Eelshock approached Fluffcloud, his eyes narrow and determined. It didn't matter their relationship, they were here to improve. The stronger they became, the easier it would be to unite the Clans. End the petty border scuffling and death.
Eelshock shot forward and feigned to the right so he could jump over Fluffcloud from the left. He wasn't a bulky tom, more lean than anything, but his length made him a longer target and made it harder to get his paws under him for the swipe at the end of the move. His landing wasn't the greatest and to save time, he improvised the move. Instead of swiping Fluffcloud's legs, he bucked her with his back paws.

Fluffcloud quickly moved to prepare herself, only to widen her eyes lightly as Eelshock changed his tactic and struck out with his hind paws. She hissed quickly as the move struck her muzzle and chest, forcing her back on her paws. She managed to keep herself standing, but the sudden blow winded her. She wanted to compliment Eelshock on his cleverness, but she knew that Waspstrike wouldn't appreciate the soft commentary. Instead, she growled lightly, crouching back into her defensive stance, ignoring the warm trickle of blood on her thick pelt.
"They're improving, faster than most." Brinetail mused as he seemed to slip from the nearby stream and stand next to Adderstar. He dipped his head to his leader, respectful of the younger but stronger tom. "To be expected from your granddaughter, and Waspstrike's kin, of course." He trilled, voice deep and smooth as the sludgy stream behind them.

Eelshock remained in a hostile stance as he faced Fluffcloud, but his gaze flicked momentarily over the Waspstrike. His heart pounded as he waited for his father's comment. Would he be reprimanded for diverting from the actual move?
Waspstrike watched them both with narrow eyes. "That wasn't the move, son."
"I improvised." Eelshock held his head up. "I'm not fast enough to sweep her legs, so I did what could."
"If you're not fast enough, then you get faster." Waspstrike lashed his tail. "Getting your opponent down on the ground is the best way to immobilize them. What if Fluffcloud was a large enemy? That kick of yours wouldn't have pushed her back."
"Then I would've used a different tactic."
Waspstrike hissed. "You're deviating from the lesson, Eelshock! You do as I say. You preform the moves as I say! How are we supposed to know if you're dedicated to our cause, if you can't even follow the simplest instruction?"
Eelshock blinked in surprise. He didn't see how changing his fighting style proved his lack of dedication. "I am dedicated, father. I'll see the Clans become one."
Adderstar nodded in agreement. He didn't look at the Brinetail and only watched Eelshock and Fluffcloud. "They have the best of their ancestry in them and gullible minds. Perfect in our plan to end the Clans. Now, tell me, what others have we recruited?"
(*squints* I think Fluffcloud and Eelshock might be related...
Fluff is the daughter of Diamond and Venom. Venom is the daughter of Adder and Robinstar.
Eelshock is the son of Waspstrike Waspstrike is the son of Creeksplash. Creeksplash is Robinstar's brother.
They're distantly related.)

(Aw MAN how did I not realize that? OOPS Well, we could always have them just be besties, or just kinda pull a Warriors and have them become mates anyway. I'm fine either way.)
Fluffcloud listened, fur turning a bit hot as she glanced once at Eelshock, feeling a twinge of sympathy for him. She opened her jaws, closed them again, and then growled at her own cowardice. She opened her jaws and spoke this time. "Waspstrike, with all due respect, Eelshock surely must have been making up for the lack in the first part of the lesson. You said that when he sweeps the legs when doing the move normally, he's open to being tackled. By kicking out instead, he prevented me from being able to think about tackling him. Maybe..." She hesitated, before she spoke up again.
"Maybe we could combine the leg sweep and a back kick into another move, that way he can practice his speed while also stopping the enemy from tackling him back?"
"I've got my eyes right on Puddlepaw, Airpaw and Stormpaw, as well as some younger warriors in Riverclan, who are desperate to prove themselves. Those apprentices are my kin, and I plan to do anything I can to punish my son for betraying Lotusbloom and I. I intend to invite them here in their dreams tonight." Brinetail reported, before he hummed. "Meadowbrook is now a permanent member of the Dark Forest, and can begin assisting Fallenlight in swaying Windclan's warriors. As for the other clans, I am sure that they're preparing some recruitment as we speak."

(I mean...they're enough distantly related that it could work, right? And plus, I'm pretty sure I've done worse with Aurablaze and Longsight Lol)
Waspstrike flattened his ears when Fluffcloud spoke against him. "You have some nerve. You need to worry about your own improvement, not his."
"We're not rivals." Eelshock flattened his ears. "It's going to take us working together to convince the clans, not us competing with one another."
Waspstrike growled at his son. "I suppose you're going to start telling me how to run this training session then?"
"Good." Adderstar nodded in approval of the new apprentices and warriors. With every cat they add to their ranks, they only got stronger. "That settles it for RiverClan and WindClan. My beloved mate is handling SkyClan and we've caught interest in ThunderClan." Adderstar finally looked at Brinetail. "I want ShadowClan. My father's negligence of that Clan led to his downfall. I want to spit on Northstar's legacy. I want Cedarstar trembling before us. I want Cliffheart's and Songbreeze's blood for betraying us. I want their apprentices and kits to betray them. I want their self-righteous warriors to realize they aren't stronger than us and Northstar's faith was in vain. I want to tear them apart."

(I'm fine with it if you are! We can just ignore it XD )
"You've taught us so much, and you should be honored for that." Fluffcloud looked at Waspstrike, wanting to alleviate and take the heat off of Eelshock. She stood with her chin up, hoping to look as assured as her grandparents must have looked as leaders. "Eelshock is right though. We want to make this work. We're stronger together, combined with your teaching. I just think that we should try more teamworking training. We're loyal to eachother, and the cause. Let us prove it."
"You know I will do anything to support you, Adderstar." Brinetail swished his tail, relishing in the tom's desire to get revenge against the clans and the cats that stood against them. "I hear that there are kits in Shadowclan that are desperate to prove themselves. Compared to the kits of the stronger Warriors, I hear they are quite bitter about it. Perhaps Cedarstar's own kin can be swayed. He has kits, does he not? Leader's kits are always so deliciously gullible to live up to their parent. Ambershade always loves meddling in Northstar's clan. Perhaps she can gain some more apprentices."

(Sounds good! I like these two as a ship XD)
"Make it happen," Adderstar ordered sharply. "I must alleviate Waspstrike. It seems his apprentices have surpassed him." Adderstar got up and slipped out of the shadows. His eyes narrowed with delight on Fluffcloud and Eelshock. "You have." His sudden appearance started both Eelshock and Waspstrike. "Waspstrike, your skills are no longer required here."
Waspstrike blanched. "B-but, Adderstar--"
"My word is law, Waspstrike." Adderstar flicked his tail, but moved no further than that. His stillness caused Waspstrike's fur to ripple.
"O-Of course, Adderstar." Waspstrike dipped his head. "Right away." He departed, moving past Brinetail as he did with silent grumbles on his lips.

(Me too, I like it too much to let that stop it, Warrior Cats have done worse than that XD)
"Of course." Brinetail dipped his head again, voice rich with dark humor the moment that Waspstrike slipped past him. "Fret not. We'll have more apprentices to train." He soothed, though it was clear he enjoyed watching other cats be put in their place by Adderstar.
"Adderstar!" Fluffcloud gaped, before she squared her shoulders and adjusted her posture to greet her Grandfather. He looked as imposing as ever, their shared shock of white pelts bright against the darkness of the dark forest. It was still both thrilling and nerve-racking to know this tom's blood was in her veins. His blood, Robinstar's blood, Thunderclan, even cats outside of the clans. What once made her feel wrong and confused now filled her with determination, and pride, a symbol of unity of blood, as the Clans should be.
"I was hoping to see you tonight." She breathed lightly, eyes bright with anticipation. Would he tell her stories, or perhaps teach them some more moves? She stayed close to Eelshock, instinctively keeping close to his presence, comforting as always.

"No one asked you," Waspstrike growled at Brinetail.
Adderstar smiled thinly at the two warrior's reactions to him. Eelshock straightened and dipped his head to Adderstar. The tightness in his jaw told Adderstar the tom didn't know what to say. "Is that so?" Adderstar calmly blinked at Fluffcloud. "And why is that?"

"No need to. I'm just looking out for everyone." Brinetail mused, stepping back towards the sludgy stream. "Adderstar's word is law, after all." He crooned, cackling lightly at the tom's expense.
"You're one of the reasons we're here." Fluffcloud blinked, surprised at her grandfather's question, but easing back into calmness as she hoped she didn't look a mess. "I always heard about how powerful in battle you were. The clan made it sound like a bad thing... but I always felt like I wanted to be as revered in battle like that." She admitted, ears flicking. "Not like my sisters... all sweet and soft."

"Go pester your own apprentices!" Waspstrike snapped. He stalked off.
"You are not your sisters, Fluffcloud." Adderstar smirked. He loved that even now the Clans revered his power. "Being here proves that. You and Eelshock have what it takes, I can see that. Together. You two can succeed where Robinstar and I failed. You can unite the Clans."
Eelshock swelled at Adderstar's unexpected praise. "We'll bring an end to all bloodshed."
"But you will need help." Adderstar eyed the two of them. "Building your strength is one thing, building followers is another. Can you think of any cats you could appeal too?"

Brinetail cackled once more, a deep and quiet little trill as he slipped back into the stream. Inwardly, the tom was now focused again on connecting with his grandkits. He seethed at the thought of his son's influence being too much to convert them, but he swore to make it work. He had work to do.
"I've already been talking with Orchidnight, Foxripple and some other Riverclan Warriors. The deaths of our clanmates during the fire have made many cats sympathetic of every clan's plights, and angry at how everything was handled." Fluffcloud nodded, thinking of how deeply Orchidnight's misery towards Ottermask had grown. Ottermask was like her own father, and as much as she cared for her adoptive uncle, she also felt he and her father were too soft at times. She shook the thought away, instead mewing. "I wanted to try and see if I could talk with my kin in Thunderclan. Frostmoon. Maybe there are some Thunderclan cats that are tired of fighting for those blasted rocks too."

Adderstar blinked with interest at Fluffcloud. "That's very good, Fluffcloud. As for ThunderClan, I might be able to help you. We have a few ThunderClan training here, sharing our ambitions. I would like to introduce them to you and Eelshock. Strengthen your bonds with them and uniting the clans will become easier."
Eelshock blinked in surprise. "Are there more from the other Clans?"
Adderstar nodded. "From ThunderClan, SkyClan, and WindClan. Our numbers are few now, but when everyone is ready, we'll unite."

Though, I know now that Meadowbrook is now here…” Fluffcloud had seen the Windclan warrior looming out in the distant moors, training with Fallenlight with such ferocity that it made Fluffcloud’s heart race at the speed and skill she saw. “I would love to meet some new faces around here.” Fluffcloud nodded, glancing at Eelshock with a hint of excitement.

Eelshock lifted his head at Adderstar's praise. He glanced at Fluffcloud. Their hard word would pay off.

She belonged amongst them, and beside Eelshock. Of course he was worthy too, he had been at her side for moons, nobody understood her like he did. “We are. Loyal, that is. We won’t let the clans down.” Fluffcloud promised, looking at Eelshock with a spark of fire in her eyes.

"I know you won't." Adderstar gave a thin smile. "From now on, I'll be mentoring the both of you. Return to RiverClan and focus more on recruiting others to our cause. However, be mindful how you go about it. If certain members of RiverClan found out, they won't understand and they'll retaliate. I'll see you both again when you return."
Eelshock's mouth parted in surprise. Adderstar would be training them? He grinned his excitement at Fluffcloud. When he stood, he dipped his head to the dark leader. "You honor us, Adderstar. I swear, we'll both do everything in our power to help the Clans understand we're better off as one than five."

Fluffcloud felt her heart thrum with excitement. Adderstar himself would be mentoring them? She could already feel the thrill of strength from learning such skills. She quickly nodded, eyes bright as she promised. “We’ll keep it as quiet as possible. Only until we’re sure it’s worth the sharing. Thank you, Adderstar.”
