Puddlepaw sighed as he began to fade, looking at Lotusbloom one more time before he felt himself fall back into reality once more.

Harekit slowly padded away from his spot, fur having puffed up a bit though he tried to be brave. He made sure to stay near a tree trunk, planning on hiding should something try and attack him From the shadows of a branch above, a smooth and gentle voice sounded down towards Harekit. "I haven't seen you around here, little one. You must have walked quite far to be here." She hummed. Blackbird's dark pelt hid her well in the shadows, though her eyes were visible from the darkness.

This is a place more special than Starclan. Only the strongest, bravest kits come here." Blackbird crooned, slipping out onto the branch and laying down on it leisurely as she looked down at Harekit. "Shh. Don't be scared. You're very clever to have made it all the way here."

But I'm also sorry that you got hurt, little one. It was courageous of you to brave the forest though. I know what clan you're from. Skyclan! It's my favorite clan." Blackbird mused, finally standing to her paws and leaping down to land before the kit. She looked down at him, a delighted look crossing her face.

Darktail awoke, looking around the forest in confusion. Where was he? This wasn't Thunderclan territory. He got to his paws, moving through the forest in confusion. He didn't recognize any of this, yet a strange feeling tugged on his core. He had been here before.
An unfamiliar tom, who looked strikingly similar to him appeared from the shadows, chuckling lowly. He approached Darktail slowly, circling him appraisingly. "Darkblood, you've returned at last. I was wondering when you'd be back to see your dear old father. It's been getting rather lonely here lately."
Darktail frowned, trying to back away from the tom, his paws trembled with fear. He didn't know why but his heart told him he should be very afraid right now. "You're not my father, Y-Yarrowcloud is. Where are we?"
Darkeyes growled, lashing his tail as he moved to stand directly in front of Darktail. "Don't lie to me Darkblood, I know my own son when I see him. Tell me! How did you escape the darkness? I want to know."
Darktail stayed silent, his mind racing a million miles a minute, "I-I don't know what you're talking about. I want to go home. How did I get here?"
Darkeyes grinned his teeth flashing in the dark, "Don't worry kit. You're home now, and I'm going to make sure you never escape again."
Darkeyes crashed into Darktail, bowling him over onto his back. Darktail flailed under the weight of the other tom, kicking his back legs in desperate hopes to get him off. Darkeyes had him pinned, digging his claws into Darktail's shoulders. His eyes flashed as he looked down at Darktail. "Say goodbye Darkblood. You won't be missed." Darkeyes went in for the kill, jaws reaching for Darktail's throat. Darktail closed his eyes, trembling as he waited for the sharp sting of teeth.
All Darkeyes got was air, the tom underneath him had vanished. Darkeyes hissed, lashing his tail as Darkblood had somehow escaped him again. "I'll get you next time Darkblood. You can count on it," he growled at the empty forest, stalking away into the shadows.

Warblerpaw sucked in a sharp breath, eyes snapping open. He found himself standing beneath a huge, gnarled tree in a dense forest, a sickly glow emanating from the mushrooms that were nestled between arching roots and the lichen clinging to furrowed trunks.
"Where...?"
The darkness surrounding him felt heavy and oppressive. There was no sound, not even the wind in the leaves, and when he looked up he saw no stars. An eerie feeling permeated the atmosphere, and Warblerpaw felt his fur begin to stand on end and his pulse quicken, a cold sensation making its home in his gut.
Fear.

He looked excited at her words are you from Skyclan? One of my ancestors?"he asked, hopeful "I very well could be, little one." Blackbird purred to the young kit, lifting her tail. "You seem strong, like I was at your age, so we can just assume that you probably are! In that case, I'll be happy to keep you company here." She promised, voice sweet as honey.

"What did you say?" Meadowbrook's vicious growl shook across the shadowed clearing of the Dark Forest where many of the Windclan cats liked to reside. Her eyes were trained sharply on her mentor, even as the powerful she-cat's posture remained as relaxed and casual as her voice. Within Meadowbrook though, anger and hatred were roiling.
"It seems that your mate has brought the kits back to Windclan. Soon, you will be able to visit them, once they start to realize what the world around them is." Fallenlight mused, eyes trained on her furious apprentice. There was still traces of milk scent on the now dead Queen's body, though it was slowly fading as her sleekness and muscle was regained. Meadowbrook snapped harshly.
"When they realize what is around them, Ashsong will have already hooked her claws into their minds! They are my daughters! Not some kits that she has any right to pity! The only cat that has any right to ensure their survival is Brownleaf! Ashsong is drenched in Starclan's scent, she always reeked of it. My kits will become indoctrinated by Swiftstar and Starclan. I will not allow it." Her claws slid out, a vicious intent to do whatever it took to keep her sister away from her daughters filling her eyes.
"Use your wits, Meadowbrook." Fallenlight growled, instantly standing nose to nose with the she-cat she trained for so long. Meadowbrook held her ground, but dared not to raise a claw to the cat she respected the most. Fallenlight glowered. "I had kits of my own, I understand it as deeply as you do. Which is why you need to see this as an opportunity, to continue your work to change Windclan from the inside. Those kits will be hated. The clan will ostracize them on your behalf, because of their ignorance and weakness. Hatred is what makes them accessible to us. The more they stew in that anger as the Clan judges them, the closer you will be to visit them, just as you've wanted since the moment you died."
Meadowbrook's fur flattened a bit, though her claws still shook in the long grass beneath her paws. Her mind whirled, knowing her mentor had a point. It would make things harder, to fight with Ashsong over the mind of her daughters, but she knew she had enough drive and anger within her to not let anything stop her. Brownleaf merely picked the first cat who offered, and as long as he was the cat raising their daughters the most, Meadowbrook could work with that. She took a deep breath, before exhaling slowly.
"...I see it your way, Fallenlight. Use any path you can to complete your goal. You taught me that, and I will use it now."
"Good. I told you, I would never steer my apprentice wrong." Fallenlight smirked, circling around Meadowbrook and mewing firmly beside her. "I remind you, we also have an opportunity to train a new generation of Windclan Warriors. Adderstar and Robinstar are planning for a new unification of the Clans. You were not able to be a part of it the first time. You will be a crucial part of it this time. Your strength and skill in combat makes you an ideal mentor for young and impressionable cats. This including your kits. Why not get back at dear Ashsong? She has three kits of her own too. If she dares to try and raise your daughters, perhaps you can be a good sister and return the favor?"
Meadowbrook felt a coil of delight at the suggestion, knowing that Berrykit, Cloudkit and Moorkit were just as impressionable as her own daughters. And after all, they were her kin too. She had every right to see them, as their dear aunt. She purred deeply. "Now that sounds like a perfect idea."

Halfshadow prowled out of the shadows, smirking at Meadowbrook and Fallenlight. "Tell me when we strike and I'll be happy to take on one of those kits as my own apprentice. Goldheart and Fireblaze, those wretched half-clan moor-runners are losing their faith in Starclan as well. I've been keeping my eye on them. They are strong warriors and would work well for our cause. Fallenlight, maybe you should give them a visit sometime."

Fallenlight greeted the tom with a knowing look, turning to face him as Meadowbrook did the same. She mewed smoothly. "I was planning on doing so, I can tell Goldheart's resolve is breaking soon. Once it does, then the window to his heart will be open. I can invite him here soon. As for the kits and apprentices, it is clear that Rookpaw has little to no faith in Starclan. She is my kin after all, and I would trust you with her." She offered, thinking gleefully of how nice it would be to target her half-brother's kits. Blacktail's deputyship being renounced into elderhood made it much easier, with him being around his kits less during the nights. "Silentfeather can't speak to any apprentices, but she can be an excellent sparring guide." Meadowbrook reminded, glancing back to the shadows where she knew the stealthy she-cat was waiting. There was still a divide between tunnelers and moor-runners, as well as cats with half-clan blood.

Halfshadow glanced in Silentfeather's direction with a quick nod. He had almost forgotten about the she-cat he had shared a camp with while alive. "Of course, she can help me train Rookpaw then. It's always nice to have a second cat to help with sparring. What do you think Silentfeather?"

She had been clanmates with him when they were alive, and now all the mute she-cat could do was nod her head in acceptance. She still hoped to one day persuade her kits, Frostpetal and Crowfrost, to join her in the Dark Forest, yet she angrily knew they’d not be able to hear her voice. Perhaps they could influence Frostpetal’s kits too. Silentfeather had wanted to see Beankit and Dreamkit so desperately.

After all, Meadowbrook’s plight was born from the rancid judgement from traditional rules in the Clan. Adderstar and Robinstar’s promise of unification will make no cat more powerful than the other… besides us, of course.” She grinned. “Then the Tunnelers will be ours to guide.” Meadowbrook approached Hiddenface with a dip of her head, before she squared her shoulders and stood strong. “Weaselstride has been training with us very recently. She started after my exile, and shows promise. But Sagefoot and Stonepath’s daughters are pure Tunnelers. I suggest we bring them in too. Gentle, but foolish apprentices. Some guidance may build off their desire to be as respected as their mother.”

Halfshadow growled, he was growing sick and tired of watching Sagefoot, Stonepath, and their perfect daughters. "Don't you think they'll be wary if they see you though Meadowbrook? But I know all you’ll ever need to know about them, and certainly about their mother and father. I can help you train them without me ever being spotted. As for the kits born after my exile, they will not have to know my name. Not yet.” She mused, deciding that it would be better to remain hidden from older cats for now. The Dark Forest would taint their minds the longer they stayed there, and by then, they would not care of her former actions. Fallenlight flicked her tail. “Windclan is far too fearful to ever utter our names again, us older Warriors. It’s pathetic, truly, how easy it can be to manipulate their kits.”

He has always been a weak leader.” Meadowbrook growled lightly, thinking of the tom who wasn’t much older than she was, yet so cherished by Starclan and set to lead a Clan for moor-runners. His attempts to understand the divide in his Clan would never be enough, and she enjoyed knowing that she had harmed him by harming his son too. Now, they could destroy and rebuild Windclan from the bottom up, from inside out. “I will do all I can to help. Any cat in the Clan, I know them all intimately, like you three knew eachother when you were alive.”

The she-cat hummed. "Such courage, but you've no need for it." She slipped down from the tree as gracefully as a falling leaf. She held her head high. "It's been such a long time since I've seen any kin. I was quite lonely...in my regret." She flicked her tail and looked around in motion to the shadowy forest. "This is my home. Warblerpaw could feel himself trembling, but refused to step back as the stranger approached. Now that he had something to focus on, he felt his heart slowing and his mind sharpening to take in as much as he could.
"Kin...?" he murmured, thinking about who this cat could possibly be. Now that he looked at her, her face seemed oddly...familiar. "What do you want to talk about? Where are we?" he repeated, voice steady and firm now.
