so., regarding my schedule changes, i have two options to choose from.
long story short, two of the classes that i really wanted to be a part of have conflicting time schedules, so I'm only able to choose one. the first one is my jrotc class; its a class that i've planned to take for all of my four years here at my highschool, and so with the work of two years finally behind me, i was granted a leadership position; i have a spot that only 5 people total (out of 150 students) are granted, and i feel like it's a very important milestone for me. i don't think i'd be able to hand it off to someone else because i thoroughly believe that i can do well in this position
the other class, though, is my ap studio drawing class.. it will have been my first year taking this class, but if i were to change it, that would be the first time of the past two years without a class including art and idk. i dont want to drop this one either, because it is one of those periods where i feel that i am able to relax and enjoy myself during the stressful confines of school. because it is an ap class, it's going to require more work to be put into it, but at the same time i'll be able to compete in various competitions and have my portfolio evaluated by the college board.
i can switch my jrotc period out, yet lose my position that i've yearned for for almost 3 years now. or i can switch out my ap art class for an ap art history class, yet i'm going to lose my chance to improve and enjoy creating art throughout the year
im just . ahh.. so stressed because like. the jrotc thing is so very important to me !! im way too involved in the rotc community, teams and all, to just take this chance and throw it out; i was chosen for a reason by my teachers, and i feel like it would just be a major disappointment for me to kinda dismiss what i've been leaning towards for several years. yet, with my art class, i've been really looking forward to it because that's the time that i'm able to enjoy the thing i do best. i love drawing, and what better way to exercise my skill than to take an ap art class. .. im incredibly scared that, if i dont have the time during the day set away for drawing and improving, that i'm just gonna plateau and not be prepared should i take the class senior year
im at a dead end :-/

maybe weigh pros and cons of both? you can still draw without having to take the class, plus if you ever go to college there's always the chance to take art classes there as for the jrotc, there isn't going to be another opportunity like it.

i would choose the jrotc for sure. youve worked too hard to dismiss it with an art class you can always take next year

Wait, so can you do your jrotc thing and take AP Art History instead of AP Art?

you can take AP art next year right?? i can, yes, however i feel like a gap year can either help me or harm me, and im not too sure of the outcome. best case scenario is that i'll be able to pick up where i left off, and that i wont have any trouble re-adjusting to an art class w constant demand. worst being that, because i havent worked on any large scale projects, that i (plus my art skill) will stumble a bit w/ the requirements maybe weigh pros and cons of both? you can still draw without having to take the class, plus if you ever go to college there's always the chance to take art classes there as for the jrotc, there isn't going to be another opportunity like it. i see where you're coming from, thank you .. i do realize that i'm not going to take rotc in college so it'd be best to enjoy this now, while i still can, whereas i can always take an art class later on. its something to heavily consider, but i honestly didnt think of that, and i truly appreciate the advice i would choose the jrotc for sure. youve worked too hard to dismiss it with an art class you can always take next year thank you for the choice (it always helps, especially for someone who's as indecisive as i am) Wait, so can you do your jrotc thing and take AP Art History instead of AP Art? correct. it's just a whole new concept to me, because instead of being able to draw and create like i've been conditioned to, now i'll be studying art throughout history. its so silly to talk about because i love art !! i just love being able to make it 1000000x more

go with the jrotc, why waste waiting for 3 years for a role for a class you can take next year?
but whichever you pick, have fun! <3

thanks its soo pressuring, especially considering that i have to make a choice by the end of today (school starts this monday so i need to talk to my counselor asap). i mean i guess the rational decision is to stick w rotc bc i mean like.. thats what ive wrapped my whole hs experience around but its just gonna be so empty not having an art class to rly enjoy and dont get me wrong, i love the art history teacher !! shes my fav!! its just not gonna be the same idk
im always a wimp when it comes to change
