The Time Of The Stars
The Time Of The Stars Is Over
When the TARDIS brings the Tenth Doctor, Rose, and Jack to the edge of a forest in Britain, they're confused about what they should do, until the TARDIS turns them all into cats. Together, the trio discovers four Clans of cats hidden living around a lake. However, a mysterious force is coming, and it's up to them to stop it before the Clans are obliterated forever. And, of course, meet a few friends along the way.

Introduction
Hello, and welcome to The Time Of The Stars! This fic takes place around the start of The Fourth Apprentice in terms of Warriors, however, the events of Omen Of The Stars never happen. In terms of Doctor Who, the timeline is a little bit AU - The Doctor is still on 10, however, he is travelling with Rose and Jack, whilst he has met River Song, Martha, and Donna. Complicated, I know. Now, before we get started, a few warnings. 1: This fic will NOT be conforming to canon in either fandom. 2: Characters will definitely kick the bucket. Understood? Brilliant! Let's get going.

Prologue

It was a comfortable sort of day for the cats of ThunderClan - the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and everybody was both safe and fed. Dovekit and Ivykit were playing just outside the nursery whilst Whitewing watched on. Briarpaw was tending to the elders, whilst Jayfeather attended to a thorn stuck in Cloudtail's paw. All in all, it was a peaceful time.

However, unknown to the cats of ThunderClan, a shadowy force had snuck its way into camp. The sun was rising, and as it cast low light across the camp, each cat's shadow grew longer and longer. Eventually, Rosepetal's shadow brushed the shadow of a large boulder, and as she walked away, no cat noticed that her shadow had split into two.

As the she-cat passed out of sight, a harrowing scream echoed across the camp. Several cats ran after her, but when they came across Rosepetal at long last, all that was left were bones.

The cats of ShadowClan were barely even awake when the shadows came. The sun was slowly rising, the Clan becoming slowly more and more active. As cats brushed each other leaving the dens, Russetfur commanding patrols and Blackstar addressing the cats, it was impossible to notice Smokefoot's sudden second shadow.

No cat would notice until the black tom disappeared on patrol. Crowfrost, Tawnypelt, and Starlingpaw ran to help when Smokefoot yelled out in agony, but it was too late. Starlingpaw hid his face in Tawnypelt's fur as the two warriors stared at the scene before them. All that was left of their Clanmate were bare, shining bones.

WindClan didn't know of the murdering soul in their midst until it was too late. The moors had been occupied since before dawn, patrols being sent out to hunt, fight, and mark the borders. Breezepelt had set his apprentice to work cleaning out the elder's den, supplying new moss and prey.

The grey tom had just returned from hunting for new prey for Webfoot and Tornear, when he suddenly froze. He had a second shadow, yet there was no light source to cast it. Boulderpaw frantically looked around, dropping the hare in his jaws, before fleeing from the camp, Breezepelt chasing after him in anger.

Breezepelt eventually found his apprentice cowered under a gorse bush - however, he was too late. All that was left of Boulderpaw were his bones.

RiverClan thought that Mallownose was simply out hunting, however, the tom was the only cat of the four Clans to know of his impending doom. He had seen such things happen before, and knew he was better off in StarClan, watching over his Clan, rather than running from his fate. So, he excused himself, and left camp.

The first patrol to go out found the tabby tom curled next to the river. However, all that was left of their Clanmate was bones.

Chapter One

"Are you sure this is the right place?" Rose asked, arms crossed across her chest as she stared out into the forest. The Doctor pushed past her, Jack following behind him.

"Of course!" The Doctor said, tossing a small device up into the air, before catching it again. "The TARDIS brought us here, so something is wrong. And I just bought this little gadget right here on a junk planet, so we're in luck! Y'see, this device will help us work out what's going wrong in some way or another. Don't know exactly how, and it won't help us fix it, but hey! It'll be fun, right?"

"This is a terrible idea," Jack said in a semi-monotone voice.

"I know," Rose replied with a sigh. The Doctor held the device up into the air, and before any of them knew it, they were all knocked out.

"Rose? Rose!"

Rose awoke to a voice whispering - well, yelling - into her ear. She opened her eyes with a jolt, only to scream in horror. She was in the middle of the forest, beside a lake. The trees were huge, the bushes as tall as she was. Next to her were two cats - one pale brown, one dark brown with white paws. Standing up, she dashed over to the lake, only to realise the inevitable.

She had been turned into a cat.

"Rose, it's okay," The dark brown cat called out. "It's me, the Doctor. And Jack, too." Rose spun around, stumbling over.

"What happened?" She asked half-desperately.

"The device turned us into cats," Jack said. "The Doctor thinks that something is going on with the wild cats that live in these forests."

At that moment, another group of cats pushed through the bushes. Leading the group was a dark brown tabby male with striking golden eyes. Behind him was a fluffy white tomcat, a dark ginger she-cat with one white paw, and a pale ginger she-cat with green eyes. The leading tom stepped forwards, obviously being in charge.

"Who are you, and why are you on ThunderClan territory?" The tom snarled. The Doctor waved Rose and Jack back with his tail - how was he so in control of himself when Rose and Jack were tumbling over themselves? - before replying.

"I'm the Doctor, and these are my companions, Rose and Jack," He explained. "I'm really sorry if we're somewhere that we shouldn't be, but we're new to the area. We travel together, you see," He explained.

The four cats paused for a moment, before the leading tom nodded diplomatically.

"We're going to have to bring you back to our camp to talk to our leader," The tom explained.

"Okay," The Doctor agreed.

The walk back was void of conversation. The four strange cats encircled the Doctor, Rose, and Jack on all sides. The Doctor and Jack were relatively comfortable on four paws, but Rose kept falling and tripping. Luckily, the fluffy white tom and the pale ginger she-cat helped her up when she fell with kind glances and unjudging smiles.

They quickly reached the camp. There were plenty of cats milling about, and the camp appeared to be made out of an old quarry. A mysteriously fire-coloured tom stood on top of a stone ledge, and leapt down when he noticed the group arrive.

"Brambleclaw!" The tom called out. "Who are these cats?"

"Firestar," The dark brown tom - presumably Brambleclaw - said, dipping his head. "Cloudtail, Sandstorm, Squirrelflight and I found these cats on our territory whilst out on patrol. They call themselves the Doctor, Rose, and Jack."

At the mention of their names, the tom - Firestar - tensed up, before nodding briskly. "My den. Now," He told the Doctor, somehow knowing that he led their little group. The three cats followed Firestar into what was presumably the leader's den, Rose tripping over herself the whole time. As soon as they were inside, Firestar turned to the three of them, his eyes serious.

"I know who you are," He said sternly. "And I'm thankful you came. Please, make yourselves at home. I will announce your arrival and who you are soon."

"Thank you for understanding," The Doctor replied. "I know that our circumstances must seem strange to you."

"They do," Firestar replied. "But with cats dropping dead, who can we trust except those foretold to us in prophecy?"

The Doctor, Rose, and Jack exchanged a look, before the Doctor turned back to Firestar.

"We can help. I'm sure of it."

Chapter Two

The three of them left Firestar's den more satisfied than before. Rose was still tripping over herself, but the Doctor and Jack appeared to have a firm hold on things. It was very annoying - why was she the one that had to look like an idiot in front of everybody? Ugh. The group of cats before approached them.

"We overheard what Firestar told you. As you were leaving, he told us to help you get settled into the Clans," Brambleclaw explained. "I'm Brambleclaw - I'm the deputy of the Clan. I help Firestar - he's the leader - keep everything in order. That's Cloudtail, Squirrelflight, and Leafpool," He continued, pointing to each cat in turn with his tail.

"And you already know who we are," The Doctor replied. "It's nice to meet you, Brambleclaw, and I hope that both our groups can gain something from this meeting."

"I hope so as well," Brambleclaw replied, his voice regretful. He beckoned the three cats to follow him, and they started to walk around the camp, Brambleclaw explaining each den as they passed.

"That's the elder's den - where the warriors who have retired live. That's the warrior's den - the warriors are the backbone of the Clan. That's where the apprentices, the warriors in training, sleep. That's the nursery, where mothers and their kits live. And that's the medicine den, where the medicine cat and their patients stay. I'm presuming that you three will be sleeping with the warriors, but Firestar will explain it more in the meeting.

"It all sounds very complicated," Rose commented. "How many of you are there?"

"A lot," Brambleclaw mewed. "But we get by." He sat the three of them down in the centre of camp, and started to explain. He explained concepts like StarClan, patrols, and hunting. He explained the journeys and the ranks and the territories, and by the end of it, Rose almost completely understood. Then, a loud voice rang out across the clearing, one that she recognised as Firestar's.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highledge for a Clan meeting!" He called out. The cats hurried over to sit beneath the rock ledge, and Brambleclaw beckoned the three of them over.

"Today, we have allowed three travellers into our camp," Firestar continued. "The Doctor, Jack, and Rose. However, these cats are not normal cats - no, they are beings greater than ourselves, possibly even StarClan. Jack and Rose are Twolegs in disguise, whilst the Doctor is something even greater, something that he calls a Time Lord. Whilst they stay here, they are to be treated with the utmost respect."

"Will they be joining the Clan?" A grey she-cat asked from the edge of the crowd.

"That is up to them, Ferncloud," Firestar mewed. "However, I'm expecting my warriors to teach them how to hunt and fight. They're new to being cats, whilst we have been like this our whole lives. It's the least we can do."

"They should tell us where we came from!" A second cat spoke up - this time, a cream tomcat. Murmurs of agreement spread through the crowd. "Tell us what life is like for Twolegs, and how we can protect ourselves!" The Doctor and Jack stayed silent, but after a minute or so, Rose lifted her head, stumbling out of the crowd.

"I... Um... I'll tell my story," She offered. The crowd cheered, and Firestar beckoned her up to stand beneath the Highledge and tell her story. She did so, half-sitting down, half-collapsing onto her belly. "So.. Umm... My name is Rose. My human - Twoleg - name is Rose Tyler, but you can call me Rose."

"My father died when I was very little," She continued. "So my mother raised me on her own. I got older, and I got more independent. So, I worked. Until I met the Doctor." She continued onwards, explaining all her adventures, before finishing. "The Doctor, I have to say, is... magical. He built me up from nothing, and I'm now this odd person - being - cat - who's seen so many brilliant things, and, really... I trust him with all my life."

She nodded quietly, slipping back into the crowd with calls of congratulations. As she sat back down, a golden tabby tom leaned over to her.

"Well done out there," He meowed. "I'm Lionblaze. Nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too," She replied with a small smile. As the meeting ended, a noise from the bramble wall bordering the camp snapped every cat in the general vicinity to attention.

"Hello, Sweetie."
