Welcome one and all to the Ambiguous Story Writing Challenge! I imagine there's a chance some of you remember it from the old forums, but most of you probably don't, so let me tell you what it's all about! In the Ambiguous Story Writing Challenge, five people will enter to write a short story, five chapters long, and each chapter will be graded out of five on theme, plot, characters and grammar (and associated things). At the end of the contest, the story with the highest overall score will be declared the winner. Each chapter will generally have two weeks to be written (though extensions can be given on a case-by-case basis, and if everyone finishes before the end of the deadline, we can move on to the next chapter early). So what's the catch? For each chapter, you'll be given a theme to write that chapter based on, while staying consistent to the plot of your overall book! This challenge will test your creativity and adaptability- are you up for it? Original fiction is allowed for this challenge, but in addition to that, see below the sign-up sheet for a list of fandoms that are accepted! You're allowed to create AUs as well, but only as long as they're crossover AUs within the allowed fandoms, or general AUs (eg. flower shop au, tattoo shop au) Wanna write for Warriors? That's fine! I think you did a pretty good job with this first chapter! It was engaging and fun to read, definitely left me wanting more despite my general disinterest in V3, and the chapter was left open-ended. Now onto the technical stuff. You did a good job of fitting the theme by setting it on a birthday, my only issue is that the theme seems almost forgettable when faced with the plot, like it almost fades away. On the subject of the plot, I loved it. I love where it's going, and I love that you gave the chapter such a dark twist when everything seemed to be so happy and sunny. I've never watched V3, so I don't know the characters very well, but so far as I can tell, they were all perfectly in character! Kokichi's mischief does seem to be dialled back a bit, but again, this is based solely on my conceptions so sorry if I'm wrong there. Now onto my least favourite part to grade, even if it is technically the easiest. The chapter flowed well and didn't seem rushed or too slow at any points. I noticed at one point you referred to Kaede having 'blond' hair, even though I'm pretty sure you're meant to use 'blonde' in reference to a female's hair colour. Other than that, I noticed no errors! Congratulations on your high score in the first round! Challenge TwoParticipants
