when people call certain characters a mary-sue just as an insult without realizing the real meaning. the characters I usually see being called a sue are:
- Dovewing - Silverstream - Jessy (maybe?)
I can list down a ton of flaws that doesn't make these cats a sue.
Dovewing: > She's "whiny". People often call her a sue and complain how she's whiny and I just... really?? Are you serious?? > She's in a forbidden relationship with Tigerheart. I mean, not anymore, but.. she was back then. > She's selfish. > She's way too trusting. > She doesn't communicate properly
I just listed down 5 flaws that doesn't make Dovewing a sue yet once in a while I see people on here calling her that and it really irritates me. It also irritates me how people call her kits a sue when they don't even have a personality and haven't developed yet.
Silverstream: > She's sarcastic. > She has a forbidden relationship with Graystripe. > She's spoiled.
Jessy: > She's rude.
Uhh... that's all I can think of for her, she's so damn poorly written xD
Point is, stop using "mary/gary-sue/stu" as an insult just because you don't like a character. I'm really tired of it and it just makes people look really foolish when the flaws are right there in the books.

Leafpool, Firestar, and Spottedleaf also get called mary sues a lot, and yet many people list their flaws in the exact same sentence they call them that, thus completely invalidating the label.
Sigh. The term "mary sue" has been so overused, and almost always in the wrong context. It's not that hard to just say you don't like a character, so I don't understand why so many people would rather call them a mary sue. It just makes their argument look weaker because they take the wrong approach to present it. So even if they have valid complaints against a certain character, it's hard to take it seriously because of how quick they are to brand said character as a mary sue.

This is honestly why I hate the label Mary-Sue now. It's just used for all the wrong reasons and wrong characters.
Also anyone who dares call my orange son a Gary-Stu will have to hear from me, as I've written all the things that make him not a sue here before. I've seen someone call Firestar a Gary-Stu before on Blogclan because they didn't like him and thought he was "Too perfect" and I'm just there in the background like "AHAHA N O".

I once saw a YouTube comment calling Skystar a Mary Sue. ._. Oh my god that's hilarious. Nothing amuses me more than ideas that earn ire from both sides of the debate.

The New Prophecy showed that he has a ton of flaws. Heck, even OotS showed his flaws. I'm sorry, but do people not read the same books as we do??? Ugh.

I used to be fine with the term "Mary Sue", but now it's kind of annoying. It's become more like a way of saying "I don't like your character" more than "you should try fleshing out your character". A flaw is meant to hinder a character, and that's the whole point of them. So calling cats like Dovewing Mary Sues make literally no sense whatsoever, and doing so is used more like an excuse than anything.
