I only speak english, but I know French and ASL from highschool {so basically a first grader scale} out of ASL and French, I like French better and wish I took more classes than I did, even tho I signed up for french during my senior year cause my at the time boyfriend told me to. I learn languages really fast, but If it don't work on imprinting it, I'm not going to be able to remember it months later, memorizing is easy, imprinting is harder for me.
What languages do you know? (if any) What languages would you like to learn? What was your first language? What prompted you to learn your second, third, etc langauge? would you consider yourself fluent?

English is my native language as well.
I am trying to learn Spanish. I'd say I'm at an intermediate level right now. Eventually, I'd like to learn Tagalog, Japanese, and Danish. Maybe Chinese as well. I'm trying to learn Spanish because I was friends with a few native speakers in high school and I've always liked the way the language sounds. In the future I want to learn Tagalog because pretty much everyone on my mom's side of the family speaks it. Japanese because anime and music, and Danish because why not?
But yeah, right now I only know fluent English and poorly pronounced Spanish.

Chinese was my first language - a southern dialect called Sou Chow. I learned my second language on my own because it was how my parents spoke to each other and to my baby sitter at the time - Vietnamese. English, then, is my third language and I had to learn it to get by in school. I took French in high school. And honestly, for my first three languages, I'm conversationally proficient, but there's just so much to know that it would be difficult for me to say that I'm actually fluent.

I've done forgotten 98% of my ASL learning, but I remember most of my French (thank you quizlet & duolingo)
I can't speak french for the life of me, but I can read it and write, and sometimes understand it. Now that I'm out of highschool and not yet in College, I plan on self teaching vocabulary only using my French teachers Quizlet, as I can't find anywhere to learn grammatically correct french. Duolingo doesn't tell you that la goes with feminine in the beginning, it ony tells you one you get it wrong and it's just not working for me. I want to learn Latin and German. Maybe Russian. I think learning a dialect of Chinese would be sweet I wasn't required to take French in highshool, as I had already had 2 years of ASL
I can't do spanish b/c I can't roll my tongue tbh.
I wish my family was bilingual, it'd be cool talking to them in different languages. but they only know english

Well like I made up my own language if that counts...
Also, I'm learning German, Italian, Japanese, and some Spanish, but I don't technically know any of them yet.

I speak English but I'm taking Spanish classes at my school. I took my first year last year (I was the only junior in Spanish I) and I'm taking it again this year as a senior. I actually really enjoy it. I wanted to take German the first year I could have taken a foreign language but the school counselor LIED to me and said there was no more spots left. There was ONE kid in that class and he was in MY grade. Then last year I went to sign up for it again but they were only offering German II and not German I. So I just took Spanish (which I actually did not even need to do since I'm going to a college that does not require you to have two years of a foreign language) but I was going to sign up for German I and Spanish II my senior year but the teacher for German retired so my school no longer offers it. I was pretty mad, but oh well, I can use Spanish. I do know some things in German but it is not enough to really amount to anything. I would love to learn German, Japanese and ASL. The reason why I want to learn German so bad is because my family history is German. I want to learn Japanese because I hate watching anime while having to read subtitles, whouldn't it be nice just to know what they are saying? And ASL because then I could talk to mute or deaf people.

English is the only language I know. I can easily translate Latin sentences if I have resources. I've been trying to learn French, but spoken languages are dang hard.

What languages do you know? (if any) English, obviously, and conversational level Italian (though working on more) What languages would you like to learn? Dutch, Finnish, become fluent in Italian What was your first language? English What prompted you to learn your second, third, etc langauge? My dad has been teaching me Italian for a while now, as I have a lot of family there. Only a small portion of my family lives out of Italy, and I want to be able to communicate with my relatives. would you consider yourself fluent? Not yet, but I'm getting there.

English is my first language and the only language I speak fluently.
I took 11 years of Hebrew through elementary/middle/high school, and while I don't remember a ton of vocab, I can at least have a very basic conversation in it. I'd definitely love to regain near-fluency in it at some point.
I also took two years of Spanish in middle school and two years of Latin in high school, but I only remember a few words of each.

It kind of sucks trying to learn a new language if your American. English is the only language you need to know, and the rest (besides asl and maybe spanish) unimportant or almost nonexistent. Basically, the only language you ever need to know here is english, which makes learning other languages really hard.

English is all I really know. Trying to learn Romanian, though. I took Spanish in school for 3 years, too, but I've honestly forgotten a lot of it by now as that was a couple years ago. I also just know random words and phrases in German and Arabic, too.
