Turtles are probably pretty hard to catch and so are sharks. Though its an interesting idea. Plot wise id love to have help with plotlines. Like maybe one where theres more sharks then usual. I know an event will eventually occur where the clan floods.

@nettles I like that idea! That’s really cool, and fits with the theme “beach”

also instead of stars in their pelt maybe their fur has patches of sea foam or has a rippling appearance to it. Ooooh I really like this one. I always pictured Starclan to have little twinkling sound effects when they walk, perhaps Moonclan cats sound like small waves on the shore or popping foam when they walk, or dripping water from the cave ceiling... I can really see the idea of foam expanding and contracting on their pelts randomly, gentle bubbles framing their face or dancing along their spine...

But, wouldn’t that be more of a “common” disaster? I like the suggestion of sharks. Lol, I just got a funny idea. Nobody needs to agree or anything with this, but.... Cats could ride turtles!!! XD

Yeah that or their pelts maybe move like a water effect though I like the foam! This also all fits with the biolimenscense!

Plot line wise, I think a good idea would be a jellyfish swarm. I had a birthday party at the beach once and there were jellyfish in the water, stung me all up and down my side. It hurt but I was fine. But cats might not be fine if they got stung on half their body... Perhaps a premonition for the jellyfish swarm would be the water turning green. The cats would think its an omen from Moonclan but really its just plankton the jellyfish eat in the water, and a few days later the swarm shows up.

Oh yeah!! I went to the beach once and a bunch of jellys had watched up on shore. We didnt really know why and I couldnt find much on it but it was just after a hurricane. Speaking of. Somewhere down the line we might have a hurricane occur.

lol surfing cats that's amazing XD though I bet they'd have an easier time surfing on driftwood, if I'm being honest...
Oh! Another small plot is a massive rip current that pulls out a few apprentices. We could combine it with the shark idea, where the clan knows there's a shark out in deeper waters, and for a while nothing comes of it, but one day the undertow pulls out a few apprentices or even a warrior, so they have to fight the shark and swim back?

This could maybe be a tradition about love? A cat (she-cat or tom) takes some washed up seaweed, and then gives it to the one they want to be there mates? If this is a really popular thing, it could be a clan ceremony?

Jaaws plot. I like the seaweed idea! Maybe they go to the arch with the cat and present them with the seaweed or like a starfish they caught?

would the dark forest instead be like. the ocean abyss or the deep ocean or something. like the spirits of cats who were cruel in life are forced to dwell in the darkness of the ocean floor?

|
Post by »TheGoldenHeart« on Sept 20, 2018 13:31:35 GMT -5
Yea, that’d be cool. Maybe you could give seaweed as a signal ‘I like you/love you’ and then the starfish could be ‘do you want to be mates?’

|

Both ideas are really good! Like they call it the Dark Abyss or Oceans depth. The seadweed could def be a signal of I like you. My only thing with that is they use seaweed in funerals. So maybe a conch shell and seaweed are for deaths. Conchshells for the passage to moonclan and then seaweed for family? So maybe it means like family type stuff? Like a mate telling hers that shes having kits or smth!! Then ill take starfish out of the funeral??

((Potential Intro))
Calm. You never expected to feel so calm... especially not while several tail-lengths underwater. The salt stings your eyes, but you don't mind. Waves rolling above you gently ripple your fur as you sink lower and lower. Lights play on the surface, a dazzling display of rays reaching. Something pulls at your scruff, and you're dimly aware of the pressure in your ears releasing as you're pulled to the surface. Your vision dims...
"Wake up! Hey! Spit out the water, do you have rocks for ears? Don't you dare fall asleep on me now!"
A she-cat's sharp voice pulls you from the darkness. You attempt to inhale, but your lungs are full of water. Your eyes fly open and you turn, heaving to push water from your chest. Finally, finally, you take a sharp breath, relishing in the sting of salt water and sweet sweet air filling your lungs at last. Coughing and sputtering, you shudder as the she-cat runs her paws on your side, against the flow of your fur. Taking a quick glance around, you realize you're on the sandy shore of a beach, an outcropping of rocks a few tail-lengths away, jutting out into the water. The she-cat must have pulled you to shore.
"That was a close one, huh?" she comments idly. "You nearly drowned. Good thing I saw you fall off the rocks. Can you walk?" You stand, wobbling a bit, but she provides plenty of support. "I'm [name], Medicine Cat of Beachclan, by the way." You inquire what Beachclan is, in a raspy voice. "Why, it's where we're headed right now," she purrs pleasantly. "After all, you did nearly drown. I can't simply let you go without any herbs to combat a potential cough. What kind of Medicine Cat would I be?"
She seems friendly enough. You figure you might as well stick around.

Voidastral, you said that there were cliffs in the territory right? Then there could maybe be an event where a mud silde or boulders fall down the cliffs?

The cliffs are where the forest is and the cave is located inside of it too. Id have to draw it out but perhaps there could be! Theres also a ledge where cats have died by falling from the sharp rocks so something could happeb with that.

I couldn't decide on a cat name yet, so I just left the spot blank for now... some prefix and suffix ideas I had were Misty-, Echo-, -cove, and -song... but those might be too cliche...
A small idea I just thought of, what if Medicine cats are also given special name privilages? But instead of just one suffix like leaders, mentors are given a list of suffixes to select from...

i had an idea a while back for medicine cats taking on a prefix when they become the primary med cat. maybe they take on shell as a prefix as a counterpart to the leader, who uses it as a suffix? or they take on moon as either a prefix or suffix. or maybe glow, for bioluminescence?

Another idea was, if there's more than one medicine cat, we could unofficially split the role. I think Tribes do this? Where one cat is the healer and the other is a spiritual guide? We could call both cats Medicine Cats, but based on what their prefix is, one would specialize in either healing or spiritual interpretation. They'd both be capable of both aspects, but would be better at the one they're named for.
You can tell who's better at what because Spiritual Medicine Cats have more spiritual suffixes, and Healing Medicine Cats have more earthy, plant-based names. For instance, a medicine cat named Brightberry would probably be better at dressing a wound than a medicine cat named Pebbleglow.
I also like the idea of one specific word, perhaps moon, as a replacement for a full medicine cat's prefix or suffix, perhaps for whoever is the primary medicine cat only? If their name doesn't really work well with moon as either prefix or suffix, they could change their entire name?
Or, if we go even further, the primary medicine cat has one specific name... Shellglow? Moonconch? Some combination of Moon- or Shell- and -glow or -conch ... we'd need more prefixes and suffixes.

But also the idea of a primary and secondary medicine cat would be a good idea. If both have apprentices at the same time, that makes four healers at once, which is ideal for larger clans. It would probably work in order of seniority, where the primary medicine cat would be the mentor to the secondary medicine cat, who would mentor the first apprentice. I think the second apprentice would either be mentored by the first apprentice, as long as the first apprentice is experienced enough to technically be a medicine cat, as if they were a tertiary medicine cat.
Or there can just be four medicine cat spots, and medicine cat apprentices count for the spot, but the newest medicine cat trains the oldest apprentice first, who then trains the younger apprentice once they too are a medicine cat.
