Aye!) Gracklefur was out catering herbs, he’d left Smokeburr with his apprentice while he was gone. He trusted his new apprentice with the warrior, even with his condition getting worse. Smokeburr had received a large gash from his nose going down to his chest. Had Ferretstrike seen which rogue did it, they’d be crow food. But Smokeburr was spent the last few days in and out of consciousness. His ability to speak and stay awake growing worse by the day. Gracklefur knew it would only be a few nights before he joined Starclan. Of course Ferretstrike refused to believe that and Mothflutter only cried softly when Gracklefur told them that.
Smokeburr’s body was burning, his eyes were wide open as he stared up at the dirt ceiling. His back felt twisted and broken, his paws twitched, he hadn’t moved in days with his body now begging for some form of exercise

Rockshard twitched in his sleep, his chest rising and falling deeply. Blinking the sun out his eyes, the grey tom glanced around finding himself in the same forest where he had met with Owlstar last. Cocking his head, the tom scented the air, his muscles tensing slightly with unease, "Owlstar?
Moosecharge stretched deeply, his muscles rippling under his thick striped pelt, his long tail flicked absentmindedly as he glanced around the camp, a small smile lighting up his face as he scanned the camp for her. His gaze drifted over the measly freshkill pile, glancing around to check if any of the rogues were watching Moosecharge quickly plucked a thrush off the top and continued his search for Eveningbreeze hoping to share the meal with her.
Yew yawned widely, her ear flicking as she watched the camp buzz. Her father's recent power move had been an interesting one, but not altogether surprising for her, it was safe to say that she had seen it coming, her father had never been one to share his throne. This was only further confirmation that she had to remain sharp, he was teaching her much, but he had to still believe that she was his inferior. She drew a paw over one of her ears, still remaining alert to her surroundings, not wanting a repeat of her father snaking up on her as he often did, but doing her best to look casual.

Sorry it took so long. I got home and laid in bed watching TV with my husband for a quick minute)
Owlstar padded out of the trees. "Sorry for keeping you waiting," he mewed with a dip of his head, "I had an elder telling the longest story and couldn't fall asleep."
Eveningbreeze was laying on top of the warriors den, basking in the sun. For as long as she could remember, she loved climbing to high places and sleeping in the sun. She cracked open an eye every so often, the only indicator that she was actually awake.
"You've learned well," Bluesmoke mewed, padding up to Yew. He'd been watching her for some time and noticed how casually alert she appeared. To the untrained eye, it looked as though she were completely relaxed but being her teacher, he knew better. He felt a burst of pride swell in his chest. At least he got one good thing out of that infuriating shecat he took as a mate.

(No worries, it gave me some time to work on my homework ) Rockshard was still not used to these regular dream meetings with his leader, he was still quite intimidated by the leader's poise but curiosity drove him to return time after time. "I trust you are still well and HailClan is treating you well." The warrior returned his leader's formal greeting his paws shuffling slightly as he glanced around, loving each second of sight his dreams offered him. Catching her scent on the breeze, Moosecharge glanced up with furrowed brows, finding himself smiling once more as he spotted her gracefully resting on top of the den. He was about to abandon his pursuit as it seemed as though she was sleeping, but he noticed her eye opening softly and felt his heart stir slightly. Bounding up in a swift movement he landed surprisingly lightly beside her, placing the thrush down by his paws. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I was wondering if you would care to join me in a quick bite." Hearing her father's voice behind her, Yew finished cleaning her ear before turning to her father letting him wait a few heartbeats before directing her attention towards him. "Thank you, one could acredit that to my teacher." The she-cat tilted her head slightly, curious as to what he had in store for her today.

"Yea, theyre very hospitable," Owlstar said, shuffling on his paws a bit awkwardly. "How are things going in camp?" He asked
Eveningbreeze jumped in surprise, as Moosecharge landed light as a squirrel beside her. Once over the shock of his sudden appearance, she purred and nodded, "As long as we can stay up here, I'd love to join you for dinner!"
Bluesmoke purred at the shecat. It was an unusual sound coming from him, about as strange as a mouse meowing. "I thought we'd take a walk today," he mewed, "no races right now, just a walk "

Rockshard found himself swelling with joy, "Well, Cherryleaf and I are expecting." The tom's smile faltered slightly as his thoughts extended past his wonderful mate, "The clan is struggling, we are losing morale and many do not see a way out of this darkness. The rogues have been in power for a long time and our neighbours have not offered to help."
Moosecharge flinched at Eveningbreeze's jump, "Sorry for startling you, you seemed quite comfy." Settling down beside her, the large tom nosed the prey over towards her, gesturing for her to take the first bite.
Yew's brow furrowed in confusion slightly, taken aback by Bluesmoke's offer, but she quickly tried to resume her calm expression, knowing that he would have noticed it but not caring to give him more satisfaction in the matter. Rising to her paws, Yew shook her pelt quickly before gesturing for her mentor to lead. She was quite suspicious of what he truly had planned and was on high alert for any signs of danger. Bluesmoke was rarely forthright about what he wanted.

"I'm glad to hear that!" Owlstar said, purring, "the clan needs good news. As for our neighbors... Icestar has offered her clans' help. We're fully prepared to launch an attack. However.. I need you to rally the warriors. We stand no chance if Sunclan has no will to fight."
Eveningbreeze purred and took a bite of the prey. She hadn't been eating much lately, preferring to allow others a chance at the few pieces left for the clan after the rogues took their share. She groaned a little at the savory taste and the warmth that settled in her belly
Bluesmoke got to his paws and walked out of camp. He continued walking along, not waiting for her but also not looking back to see if she was still there... He knew she still was. He grinned to himself, it was nice having the kind of power to know others would follow without direction.

Rockshard's eyebrow's raised at the mention of Icestar's help, finally good news. The warrior nodded somberly, "We may be a broken clan, but we are still warriors, many of us are willing to lay down our lives to see hope restored, but one can only hope it will not demand that cost." Rockshard knew he would gladly die to create a world for his mate and kits where they could live in peace, but part of him longed to experience every moment of his unborn children's lives.
Moosecharge had noticed her going without food and had been guilty of doing the same, hunger had become a regular occurrence for the tom, but there was someone about seeing someone you care for slowly starving that drove him to intervene. The tom sighed deeply glancing over the camp once more, "We are a hurting clan, you can feel it in the air. It's like StarClan has turned their backs on us." Saying that went against everything the tom believed about their watchful ancestors but it had been something he had been pondering for a long time.
Yew strode after him with graceful speed, every day she was looking more and more like her mother with the slight difference in the colouration of her pelt, it sometimes made others a tad uncomfortable to be around her, but she was sure her father's presence also had a lot to do with their impression of her. She didn't mind their unease, but part of her feared what would happen if the rouges were ever overthrown, where did her loyalties lie? Ears pricked for any signs of danger, Yew pressed onwards keeping pace with Bluesmoke quite easily, falling into step beside him.

"We'll attack on the next new moon," Owlstar mewed, pleased the tom was eager to help, "you have about a quarter moon to convince our warriors to fight."
Eveningbreeze herself had her own doubts about starclans power. She still firmly believed in the Spirits of the Tribes' ancestors who existed peacefully among the living in the form of common occurrences in nature such as the wind and rain. The Spirits rarely intervened, and only subtly made their presence known to those who needed it. "The clan is losing hope," she murmured.
"I may not look it," Bluesmoke mewed suddenly, not bothering to check to see if Yew could hear him, "but I'm getting old. My bones are beginning to ache in the morning."

Rockshard felt his stomach tighten with the thought of a battle happening so soon to when Cherryleaf was expected to be kitting, but he nodded, squaring his shoulders. "You have my word that I will do everything I can to help and get the clan ready for what is coming. We are all looking forward to your return Owlstar, you belong as our leader." The grey-furred tom offered his leader a quick reassuring smile.
Moosecharge's ears lowered slightly, pausing to take a small bite of the bird letting Eveningbreeze's words ring in his head as he chewed. It was like a haze had fallen over the clan, it was so different, nearly unrecognizable from what it once was. They had fallen, the tom was just worried about how far they might fall. "Do you think Owlstar is still alive?"
Yew's head tilted, but she kept walking, she had noticed but maybe she hadn't grasped just how old the tom truly was, after all, he had lived an entire life outside of her knowing him. FLicking her tail, the she-cat nodded slightly. She was quite surprised by the conversation of choice and curious to see where it lead.

Owlstar wasn't quite so sure he should be leader but he didn't want to trouble Rockshard with such worries. Instead, he dipped his head in awkward thanks. "I'll be back here a few nights from not to see how you're doing," he mewed, thankful his late mate, Wren, was helping connect the two in dreams.
"I think the Spirits would have sent a sign of some sort if he wasn't," Eveningbreeze mewed. In truth, she had no clue, but she had to believe the leader was alive and well. She had to believe he was going to come save them all very soon. Eveningbreeze had never been scared like this in her life and she didn't know what to do about it other than simply ignoring the fear.
"And with the loss of my second in command," Bluesmoke continued, not mentioning the fact that he'd killed the cat in question, "it's been brought to my attention that I need a new second in command. I need to start training someone to take over when I am no longer fit to be leader. You see, in this group, once a cat reaches a certain age and is no longer as strong as they used to be, they leave."

((rip))
Snowpaw's eyes watched the warrior, looking away from him only to do a bit of organization, though most of that was done by now. This left her with really not much else to do besides sit and watch him, occasionally tapping him as if to ask if he needed anything.

Smokeburr felt a burning ache growing in his head that started to roar into a blazing pain. He opened his mouth to speak, trying to flick his paw at Snowpaw as his vision began to slip in and out. His felt all his strength and pain start to drain and then, nothing. His once beautiful blue eyes, now glazed and colorless. All the color of his spirit. Now gone.

Gracklefur: oh dang, Snowpaw you can tell Ferretstrike and Mothflutter their bro died Snowpaw:...)
Gracklefur returned to camp with his restocks. He gave a glance to the nursery, his kits seemed fine. He gave a small tired smile at the sight of Skunkit, who was curiously watching Slenderoak and Jaggedtalon with their new kits. He was glad his kits were well and seemingly unbothered by the rogues, he continued to head to the medicine den. He poked his head in, all he saw was Snowpaw looking curiously at a limp Smokeburr.

Rockshard dipped his head once more then turned, as if to leave, before stopping short. He glanced over his shoulder at Owlstar, his eyes serious, "Why have you chosen me to lead the clan to fight? Why not Hailstorm, or... anyone else really?" This had been a question the grey-furred warrior had been pondering for quite some time.
Moosecharge nodded deeply, she was right, the Spirits had not abandoned them, that was foolish of him to think such things. Moosecharge glanced at her from the side of his eye and picked up on her nervous energy, her own fear mimicking his own. With his heartbeat roaring in his ears, the large tom rested his tail against hers, an act of comfort, but his pelt prickled at her touch as he tried to hide how nervous he truly was.
Yew was not about to bring up the fact that his second in command fell by his own deeds, she was smarter than that, merely continuing to nod quietly walking in pace with her mentor. She had a hunch where this conversation was going, and her heart swelled with excitement, but she regained her composure deciding to play along as if she was unsure of what was happening because there almost always seemed to be an ulterior motive with her father. "If Ajax was not mooning over that clan cat, he might have made a smart choice for your second in command. Dorian isn't altogether a poor choice, but he is a bit of a wild tom, not easy to predict what he will do next, but he has a drive that will not let him step down from a fight, not a smart tom by any means, but you can count on him to do what needs to be done." The she-cat glanced slightly at Bluesmoke, trying to read his expression to get a hint of what he was intending to do.

Snowpaw's expression had changed to that of a worried one as she realized what'd happened. The medicine cat's apprentice stood up to go find her mentor, however, when she did so, she found him already at the entrance. She shifted on her paws and nodded to Gracklefur after tapping Smokeburr's body with her tail sadly.

Jaggedtalon felt his heart swell as he observed his daughter. "I will remember this moment when she starts acting out." He joked looking back at Slenderoak. "How long will they stay small?"
Rain happened to be sparring with one of the rogues. They were were but Rain didn't care at this point. He just wanted to be stronger.

Gracklefur gave a soft sigh, he knew it was coming. It was now telling the warrior’s young sisters the news now. He went up to the body, a chill going down his spine as he stared at Smokeburr’s ghostly stare. He closed the warrior’s eyes and muttered something before looking to Snowpaw, “He was never going to make it. Don’t blame yourself.” He said.
“I’m sure in about a moon or two, they’ll be pouncing in your tail and pulling our whiskers in our sleep.” Slenderoak said knowing restless nights were coming. She looked down at Waspkit who was falling asleep while still chewing on her father’s fur

Owlstar had also turned away, walking back to where Wren awaited him. He looked over his shoulder at the tom and mewed, "Starclan chose you. And they were right."
Eveningbreeze's fur warmed with a nervous embarrassment she hadn't felt she she was a Paw desperate to prove her worth. Her eyes half closed for a moment and she looked over at Moosecharge shyly, unsure what to do or say.
Bluesmoke nodded while she talked. He was surprised she didn't offer her own self to the position. "Those are good candidates. I was looking for someone a bit younger though. Someone who would lead for a long time." He was interested to see her thoughts with that.
