I'd recommend giving it a try, it sounds like an okay book series

Absolutely. It's far better than Survivors and Seekers. The characters are excellent, the pacing is very good, and the two villains in my opinion are the second and third best villains written by Erin Hunter, period.

It's definitely worth reading, the writing and plot are excellent, and the twists, as @punz said, are very good and unexpected.
