I'm fine with getting right into it! Although I must ask first- if I were to give my character a power, what should it be?

Great! Then unless you can think of anything else we need to finalize first, I'm ready!

Matthew's feet landed lightly on the thing layer of snow as he made his way to the bus stop. He had just recently finished work and was fairly eager to get back home and relax for a bit. However, despite his dreariness, he made sure to wear a warm smile as he walked along the sidewalk. His fingers grew cold and stiff quickly, so he stuffed his hands in the pockets of his jacket, and curled them into fists, rolling his shoulders slightly as he slowly began to use power to slowly begin warming his hands. At one point as he walked, his shoulder brushed someone else. He jumped slightly, as he had started to lose himself in his own thoughts, but he quickly put on a makeshift grin and tipped his head down a bit. Trying to ignore the man's bitter look that was stabbing into him, Matthew said briefly, "Sorry!" Before continuing on. The brief shock had fallen from his shoulders. Now that he had been snapped back to attention once again, he was more aware of the desperate mewling noise somewhere near him. He looked around, then down at the walkway to a business, which he paid no attention to. Crouching down, he very cautiously reached out one precarious hand towards the stray cat sitting there. Jax had always been a lover of animals, so he felt horrible for this feline that sat lonely and beaten on the brutal streets. He could only hope that the cat would not bolt as he reached out slowly.
(ah, sorry that took me so long, I'll try to hurry from now on. I just had to kind of gain my bearings real quick.)

As the delicate white feline's fur brushed against his hand, he felt a more genuine smile tug at the corners of his lips. Cautiously and still with slow movements, he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around the cat, worried that he may hurt it. It was so frail and seemed to be so desperate, that it made him concerned even more now for the stray. With his hands still warmed from his power, which allowed him to heat up the air, or create flames if he wanted to, he pulled the small creature close to his chest and smiled softly down at it. As he stroked the cat once more, he noticed the cruel collar on her neck. If not for the extreme cold of the metal, he probably wouldn't have even noticed. He examined it closer, gently pushing the cat's chin away to look at the dirty tag for a name. "Winter," He murmured softly, "Delabrie," Jax paused for a while, questioning why anyone would give a cat a last name, and why they would force such a horrid collar onto any animal. Still holding the cat close to him, he swiftly began walking again, hurrying to make it to the bus stop. He paused there, thankful that the bus had yet to arrive. However, he was unsure if the bus would allow him to bring a cat on with him, especially one appearing to be a stray. It wasn't something that had ever crossed his mind before. Not wanting to take any risks, he shifted the cat over to one arm and shouldered off his backpack. Taking a seat on the cold bench next to him, he unzipped his backpack and pushed things aside to make room. He felt bad about doing that to the cat, but couldn't think of anything else to do, so he gently placed her inside. Slowly, he zipped the backpack up again, leaving a bit of it open for the cat to breathe more easily. He peered inside at it, a frown etched across his lips, "Sorry, little kitty. Do you think you'll be okay in there?" The bus arrived at the stop, surprising Matthew with its screech as it slowed. Quickly he boarded, and took a seat near the back, clutching the bag close to him. Still, he was careful, and still, he felt bad for the cat. (No, it's no problem! Ah, sorry, I've tried to include something to give you more to build off of, but it's a bit difficult in this situation. Also, I don't mind short responses, mine aren't really all that long and will probably get a bit shorter eventually. Agh, and sorry about me, I'm trying to settle on what font to use.
