When to bump a thread [Simple, friendly reminder]

Just a friendly reminder.
Do not spam threads with bumps, whether it is your own or or that of someone else. It is spam, and will be counted as such. Plus, all it does it clog up threads with unneeded posts and make it look ugly.
So when should you bump your thread?
My advice: only bump it if the thread has fallen off the first page of its category. Depending on your category, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two (or longer) for this to happen. This variation is mainly due to activity and popularity of different threads. That means in a very popular category, if you want to keep your thread up on the front page, you just need to bump it every time it falls off the page.
Again, don't bump it continuously. This is just spam, simply put.
