So I'm rereading avos and i realized I didn't give it the attention it deserved the first time around. Of course, I know what happens in the rest of the books, but shattered sky is SO good. Darktail is an absolutely horrifying villain, and i can feel the desperation and fear that every cat had. This might just be my favorite book, because dang. It's so good.

If AVOS had kept up the same energy it had with Shattered Sky it would have been on track to become one of the best arcs in the series (imo), but kate and cherith really dropped the ball on darkest night and river of fire. and who knows whats even going to happen in the next book. its a shame.
sorry to be negative, I really did enjoy Shattered Sky. Darktail was just the right amount of creepy, and the scene at the lake was really well done. Violetpaw's feelings of terror when she realized she just earned her only friend a death sentence... that was a fun read.

I like the way Darktail's arc came to a close personally, but I feel like he kept things interesting in a way. I haven't started DN yet but I hardly remember the book, I just know the conflict moves to a SkyClan arriving, but there's so much more they could have done to keep the pace going.
