Gemeyes hadn't expected there to be a good edible snake, and his eyes lit up. He stopped in his tracks as he spoke his idea aloud. "Hey! We should get a hunting patrol, you know, if we can find willing cats, and try to catch the black ones!" He meowed.

We should get a hunting patrol, you know, if we can find willing cats, and try to catch the black ones!" He meowed. "Not a bad idea, Gemeyes! I'm all for it. There's no way Redstar would deny us the chance to at least offer an option! Besides, I'd be more than willing to show everybody the right snakes! My mentor was real quick, and showed me lotsa methods of catching fast prey. Snakes are fast, you know?" Nettlefrost grinned. "How about we hunt a bit, and then we can offer the idea when we get back?"

Gemeyes nodded enthusiastically, excited by the idea that he and Nettlefrost might help show the clan something new. He couldn't resist the attention it might bring to him. He started to pad on again, as they moved deeper into the thickening pine trees, marking how close they were to the opposing clan's territory. "If anyone asks though, it was my initial idea," He meowed in a low tone as he kept his ears alert for sounds of prey. To show that he wasn't being that serious, he gave another wink.

“Tough, I’m taking my credit, tom-cat.” Nettlefrost rebounded with an innocent smirk. She lifted her nose and paused, eyes hungry. “I scent a bird nearby. Let’s snag it.”

Gemeyes could scent it too, so he nodded. Staying quiet underpaw, he padded slowly onward, his senses alert for the prey. He paused on the pine needle covered ground when the scent became stronger, and his gaze turned upward at the sound of rustling in the branches above. He glanced to meet Nettlefrost's gaze.

Gemeyes smirked. "I wasn't worried, but fair enough." He meowed with a nod, his gaze turning back up toward the branch where he could scent the bird. "Go for it." He added in a whisper.

Blackfeather stood beside Redstar, looking upon Cloversong with deep concern in her eyes. "Dear...if you're not up to it, there's no shame in taking the day to rest," she assured softly. She knew the warrior suffered from chronic pain, and nothing triggered her maternal nerves more than a hurting clanmate. Cloversong shook her head. She felt guilty lying to Blackfeather, but she desperately wanted to do this. "I can make it, I promise."

(All is good, I'll just make a starter.)
Badgerspark trotted into camp, a rabbit hanging from his jaws. The tom quickly dropped his rabbit with the other prey that had been caught. He happily laid down besides the prey pile, stretching slightly as he basked in the sunlight.

"Everyone is scared of it."Heavyfoot joked."There's only a bunch of deadly snakes in it."He said stumbling.

Rattlethroat paused in his step when he saw Heavyfoot stumbling over the terrain he used to charge over much easier. He blinked in concern. "Should I slow down?" He asked cautiously. His young energy and strong muscles naturally made him very fast, even if he was a bit lumbering.

"As long as I can get out or my nest in the morning no one's slowing down for me."Heavyfoot replied with a chuckle. He picked up his pace and carried on.

Rattlethroat nodded, admiring Heavyfoot's persistence. He wasn't sure he would be up to continuing his warrior duties when he got older. But, of course, that was a long way away. When they reached the outskirts of the quarry, just beyond the valley of rocks where many snakes hid, he lifted his nose to scent for any signs of prey. He guessed that rabbits or mice must also take shelter in the rocks.

After a few moments of searching,Heavystep spotted a small mouse scrounging around. He dropped into a crouch and stalked towards it.He had forgotten to test the wind's direction and the mouse scented him,and scrambled back into it's whole."Rats!"

(Oof, yeah xD Redstar is Stoneclan's uncle, that sounds better.) Onepaw nodded, but that didn't stop him from casting an accusing glare at the approaching patrol in the distance. He shook his head, forcing himself to pay attention to his mentor. He was here to learn, and there was no one to impress by trying to challenge to bordering clan. "Uh, so... Fishing." He mewed, still distracted. One of the patrolling cats was impressively large, and he thought he might have seen them before at his first gathering. "Fishing!" Pebblesprout finally nodded, crouching at the edge of the riverbank. He could see minnows trailing their way through the water, but he wanted to give Onepaw the opportunity for something bigger and easier. The short tom glanced downstream, and he could see some darker figures beginning to swim their way. "Okay Onepaw, luckily there's a school coming our way. Watch my paws..." Pebblesprout muttered, planting his back feet firmly in the pebbles. He unsheathed his claws in preparation to strike. "Judge where you think the fish will be, and that's where you want to...." As the school of perch edged closer, he calculated approximately where he should strike his paw.... slap!Pebblesprout struck the water with almost lightning reflexes. He felt his claws dig underneath the oily scales of a fish. Reeling back, the perch flew back onto shore, flopping along the pebbles. "OK! Now, like any prey once caught, we must bite it!" Pebblesprout explained hastily, mounting the wriggling fish and burying his teeth into its neck. It soon fell limp.

"You would have got it if it wasn't for that wind." He meowed. He turned his attention back to creeping along the rocky surface, scenting for prey and keeping his senses alert for any tiny heartbeats. The scent of rabbit got his attention and he followed it carefully, finding a crevice in the rocks where the swift animal must have been hiding. He sighed, lingering downwind from the spot as he waited to see if the rabbit would come out from hiding.

He mewed, looking down at the caught fish. He swiped his tongue across his whiskers. "I think I'll try." He meowed, feeling confident in how easy it looked. He crouched close to the edge of the water, his eyes trained on the water for more fish. When he saw the shadowy shapes of more perch, he readied himself to catch. As the fish he wanted to catch swam closer, and he chose where he thought he could snag the fish, he almost unconsciously stretched out a paw over the surface of the water, casting a shadow over the river. Before he even got a chance to strike, the school darted away from his shadow with perfect precision, and he thrust his paw into the water with no fish to catch in his claws. He quickly drew his paw out of the water and shook it out, giving a growl of disappointment.

Rattlethroat, grateful that his old mentor had discovered more prey other than the well hidden rabbit, nodded enthusiastically. He padded quietly to hide under and overhanging rock that would be out of sight to the birds, but still open enough for him to lunge and snag one.

Sagepaw ;; { 👻videocassette👻 - stoneclan territory }
The apprentice had the mind to roll her eyes at Raggedfur's daily accusation of RavenClan. Sure, the senior warrior had a rough past with the clan, but how long could she hold a grudge? It seemed tiring to Sagepaw, to hate a group of cats for eternity. The grey feline wasn't alive to experience the drama involving Raggedfur's kit and RavenClan, but she heard enough about it to feel like she had been there. "Yes, Raggedfur," Sagepaw, having more to say but decided against it. Her mentor was grouchy enough and Sagepaw didn't feel like furthering her own bad mood. Honestly, she wasn't grouchy until she had gone over to Raggedfur. The apprentice's heart dropped; she hoped she wasn't becoming as moody as her grumpy mentor. ( all of my kitties but sagepaw and berryfrost are open )

Firestorm sat, tail curled over her paws, on top of a rock in the StoneClan camp. The sun warmed her ears and she purred for a brief moment. As much as she would have loved to sit there and sunbathe for a while longer, she knew there was work to be done. The ginger cat stood, stretched out her spine, then leapt down. She gazed around camp, looking to see who was around that could go hunting with her.
(^ an opener for anyone who's looking!)

The short tabby blinked expectantly at his apprentice. "OK...so, what went wrong?" he mewed, seeing the frustration in his gaze. He felt the tom may learn better by explaining his errors himself.

"Okay then," she sighed, touching the younger warrior's forehead with her nose. "Just... be smart OK? Every warrior has their limits--even the strongest." She cast a sideways glance at Redstar, emerald gaze warm.
