Before it was revealed that Hollyleaf killed Ashfur, who did you think his murderer was? How did you feel about it being Hollyleaf?

It was always obvious that it would be a protagonist based mostly on Leafpool's reaction. It was obvious it wasn't Sol. Hollyleaf is a pretty easy guess.

I don't think I ever put much thought into it. I just went along with the books. But I loved the development it gave for Hollyleaf, even if the planning was poor.

I figured it was Hollyleaf based on their interaction before he was found dead and how she never once wondered to herself who the killer was.

I remember thinking Squirrelflight killed Ashfur because of her being gone during his murder. But I think that was on purpose to throw people off. I don't remember what I felt about the actual murderer. Shocked, I guess.

I'd say both of them were red herring, just that Sol was much more obvious. Actually, Squirrelflight had disappeared around the same time as Ashfur and was covered in mud, claiming she was gathering herbs for Leafpool. Also, her more fiery personality makes her more inclined to fight back, therefore probably more capable of killing someone then say Leafpool. Also, just the fact that Squirrelflight had more personal stakes in it than anyone. Honestly, if she had done it, I wouldn't of been that shocked, only surprised the Erins decided to go for such an obvious choice. If you look at old artwork/comments from around 2008, you'd see alot of people actually thought it was here.

yep, I thought it was Squirrelflight too considering she was practically hyperventilating when Firestar suggested a ThunderClan cat did it, as well as disappearing on the night of the gathering and being covered in mud. Pretty sure Holly being the murderer was spoiled for me bc I don't remember having an actual shocked reaction to it

Knowing myself, I always went for the more outlandish theories, because I desperately wanted a actual surprising plot twist out of the Erins for once.
So I guessed maybe someone like Brackenfur, thinking maybe Hollyleaf had accidentally slipped the truth to him, so he wanted to protect his former apprentice. Or maybe the three's unknown father are the time, who I of course, didn't want to be Leafpool and Crowfeather, as once again, too obvious.

i had read the Omen of the Stars series before any of the others (was the only arc that was at the library at the time), so i already knew that Hollyleaf killed Ashfur.
if i started from the very beginning though, i probably would've guessed that maybe Lionblaze killed him.

I thought either Squirrelflight, Lionblaze, or Hollyleaf did it tbh. It was pretty obvious who the killer would have been. Though as the book went on, it became super obvious that it was Hollyleaf.
