"Do you think we might find something?" Willowpaw asked excitedly as she followed the leader out of camp, trying to withhold her eagerness.

Hailclaw raised his brows and asked, “Well how about we go hunting? We can see who catches the most.” He looked over to the decent-sized fresh-kill pile and added, “We could always use more food and you can spend some energy.” <iframe width="15.840000000000032" height="3.680000000000007" style="position: absolute; width: 15.840000000000032px; height: 3.680000000000007px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_5745333" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="15.840000000000032" height="3.680000000000007" style="position: absolute; width: 15.84px; height: 3.68px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 740px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_52575446" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="15.840000000000032" height="3.680000000000007" style="position: absolute; width: 15.84px; height: 3.68px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 124px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_12191777" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="15.840000000000032" height="3.680000000000007" style="position: absolute; width: 15.84px; height: 3.68px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 740px; top: 124px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_92419275" scrolling="no"></iframe> "Hm, I wouldn't mind going out and stretching my muscles." Skyrunner got onto his paws and shook his pelt. "Is there any place you think we should go?" As Hailclaw finished his mole he thought about the different places to go hunting. “What about near Abandon Farm? Maybe not inside it, but I’m sure there’ll be lots of rodents hanging about,” the large tom managed to say through his last bite of his mole.

"That's true, I can't argue with that," Lakesong admitted, flanking her friend's side. "But I just hate the smell of wet fur, and I don't want it to be all over me. So you can swim, and I'll check for lavender and chervil. Skyrunner warned. He remembered an elder once telling him how a dog suddenly burst out of the barn without warning. "Make sure to smell the air before getting ahead of yourself." He strode out of camp with his head held high.

"I'm not boring!" Lakesong meowed, running after Ottersplash with a laugh. "I just don't like smelly fur!" She quickened her pace and ran ahead of Ottersplash, reaching the river in a very short amount of time.

Hailclaw nodded at the older tom’s advice and closely followed Skyrunner out of the camp, admiring the way he held his head high. Once outside, he took a huge breath, enjoying all of the mixed scents. He set a quick pace towards the farm since he was eager to start hunting.

Redflight gave a curt nod to her leader to show she was on board with the patrol plan. Willowpaw’s eagerness slightly spooked the she-cat, but as she’s not a big talker, she gave a small smile to the young cat, but laughter shone in her eyes.

She quickened her pace and ran ahead of Ottersplash, reaching the river in a very short amount of time. The Crippling River's waters ran smoothly along the path the earth has created for it, twisting and turning in different directions. Sunlight made the water sparkled as fish swam with the currents. Ottersplash bounded forward with excitement twinkling in her eyes.

Skyrunner felt his pelt prickle with unease as they came to the Ash Field, glancing at the dead piece of territory. So many cats have been buried there and he would notice clan mates coming to pay respect to their family and friends. He turned his gaze to the large, old barn that loomed ominously.

Hailclaw recognized Skyrunner’s uneasiness, but he did his best to swallow his own fears. ‘It’s not like anything’s actually going to happen, right?’ Hailclaw reassured himself silently. “Well, are you ready to hunt?” the tom asked, already catching the scent of a nearby rabbit.

Skyrunner nodded briskly as he lowered himself into the hunting crouch, letting the scents around him bath on his tongue. He saw sudden movements out of the corner of his eye and lightly treaded the ground while he kept his belly lifted so it wouldn't make noise. A brown figure scurried beneath some grass a few feet away from the warrior. As swift as the wind, Skyrunner ran forward and pounced, killing the mouse with a swift nip of the neck.

Hailclaw was tracking down the rabbit when Skyrunner caught his mouse. He had his mouth open slightly in awe. He knew he could never be as agile as the older tom, definitely not with his size and thick fur weighing him down. Instead Hailclaw did his best using his size as an advantage and rather use strength to overpower the opponent. Hailclaw had to shake his head and get back to the matter at hand - finding that rabbit. The grey cat crouched more and more as he closed in on the fresh scent. When he finally saw the tips of the rabbit’s ears, Hailclaw quickly pounced on the rabbit’s neck, instantly snapping it.

Lakesong rolled her eyes, spending a moment to lick the water droplets off her fur. When she was done she returned to the chervil bush and started pulling off leaves, occasionally glancing up to look at Ottersplash. "I just realized how fitting your name is," she called as she set the herbs in a neat pile a safe distance from the water.

Hailclaw felt a raising sense of happiness at Skyrunner’s approval at his catch. He watched the older tom go closer to the barn and Hailclaw was hesitant to follow. However, he could already smell and hear dozens of little animals scurrying about near the barn. With a big, deep breath Hailclaw followed Skyrunner, ready to push down his fears in turn for more prey.

Skyrunner lowered himself as he crawled along the floor, keeping an eye on the opening to the barn. The large twoleg den had been rotting away ever since the twolegs left it moons ago. His pelt prickled with unease when he heard scurrying inside the place, narrowing his eyes.

(Do you want anything to happen or just keep it calm? I’m good with anything :’))
Hailclaw was trying his best to stick close to Skyrunner, but when he heard the digging of a nearby mole, the young warrior dared to breakaway. He did keep an eye on the black and white cat, to make sure they don’t lose each other in this dangerous area. His mind focused on the mole, the sounds coming from it making Hailclaw sure it was pretty large, a definite treat for any clan cat.

Skyrunner eyed the warrior as he stalked the mole. He appreciated the tom for helping him ease his mind about all the nightmares that crowded Skyrunner's nights. As he went forward further towards the opening, small beady eyes began to appear from the dark insides of the barn. A cold ball formed inside the experience warrior's belly as a swarm of rats suddenly leaped out of the den. "Watch out!" Skyrunner yowled as he shoved Hailclaw out of the way. The rats slammed into his flank and forced him to the ground, covering him with bites. He snarled as he raked at one of the rat's face.

(I like your style ) Hailclaw was ready to pounce on his prey, completely oblivious to the rats, when Skyrunner shoved him. He was shocked and time seemed to slow down as he watched rats pour out from nowhere. The tom was brought back to reality when a rat tried to bite his leg. For once m, Hailclaw was thankful for his thick fur. The cat struck out his back leg, launching the rat across the barn. He tried his best to clear a path to Skyrunner, thinking it’d be best if they were together, making it easier to escape the barn through the rats. Hailclaw didn’t get far when a couple rats began climbing his fur onto his back.

Skyrunner struggled beneath their furry bodies and kept kicking them away as best he could. One of them bit his hind back making him hiss with pain. "There's too many!" His voice tried to reach Hailclaw from the pile of rats. Every part of his body stung with pain from the rat bites and many scratches they gave to him. He snapped his jaws to kill at the bodies before his muscles screamed for mercy. Skyrunner felt his vision go blurry as his legs buckled underneath him and the rats covered his body.

Hailclaw could barely hear Skyrunner’s words as the rats finally learned how to get around his thick fur and began their biting and scratching. A growing fear rised in him as he watched the endless, oncoming waves of rats, however he kept on trudging through. As Hailclaw looked up to locate the other tom, he realized he wasn’t in view. After shouting his name a few times, Hailclaw spotted a lump in the rats and with a surge of new energy began batting rats out of his way. He rushed to Skyrunner and threw off a couple rats, one leaving quite a nasty bite on his paw. “Skyrunner, are you okay?” he yowled while continuing to keep the rats off of his body, but his new energy seemed to be running out and he wasn’t sure if he could keep fighting for much longer.

Skyrunner didn't lift his head for good solid minute before heaving himself up. He knocked over a few rats before pushing his way out of the swarm. "Hailclaw, we need to leave before it gets even more dangerous." His voice had a hint of fear laced with determination. "We fun as fast as we can to get away." The warrior leaped a good tail length away before bolting towards the direction of the Boiling Lake, hoping the rats would lose interest in them.

Hailclaw felt a wave of relief wash over him as he watched Skyrunner get up, but the feeling was short lived as he watched the other tom Tun away. Hailclaw wasn’t exactly the quickest cat and doubled with the throbbing bite on his paw, he knew he couldn’t run fast nor far. Swiping away a few more rats, Hailclaw did his best to run from the rats. The majority seemed to give up once he was a few foxlengths away, but a couple stayed right on his tail. He was losing energy, but Hailclaw swiveled around and was able to break one of the rat’s necks with his paw and the other left another nasty bite on his front legs. With one last surge of energy from the pain, the tom stomped on the rat’s head, instantly killing it.
